I'm predicting only 1 change.

OUT: Peake
IN: Farmer

Peake has been great for us, but still needs more time in the WAFL.

It will actually be pretty tough this week to pick the team. I think thorton and polak would be looking over their shoulders though, both had terrible games.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Unless there's another injury to creep in there then that's quite likely. He does suit the running game style we adopt on Subiaco oval though.

Depending on how bad Pavlich is, we might see young Murphy get a game, even if Pav still plays. Or Polak to spend more time up forward.

Yeah, I think Peake may be the unlucky one. Farmer in, him out. Richmond has successfully played tall against us in the past. That will save Polly I reckon.

Peake spent a lot of time on the bench which is often an indication you are about to be dropped. With some physical games on the horizon his time in the 22 may be up, though he has barely put a foot wrong so far at the highest level.

Thornton provides plenty of run and always kicks the ball long, but is suspect at times one on one. The goal he conceded was embarrassing but hopefully he will learn from that and throw himself at the ball next time. Polak has been struggling, but as hoss mentioned the tigers play a tall forward line so Thornton and Polak will probably stay in the 22. If Richo doesn't play either Polak or Thornton might make way for Hayden. If Gaspar doesn't play we could really stretch them at the other end

Hayden played well and is ready to return to the AFL. Finding him a spot is the problem. The derbies are usually physical games so 2 or 3 changes might be a good idea for the saints game, with Hayden a good option for Milne/Guerra.

Long range forecast for Saturday is cloudy and 20'.

You guys are certainly playing alot better and more direct without the angry man in the side. The extra space created has made Medhurst look more dangerous as the lone small forward. A much better balance IMO.

Lets wish Jeff a speedy recovery and hope he's back just in time for round 20 ;)

It looks like Farmer will have a week to warm up for the derby, because he's due back this week. Prior to his injury he was our best and most consistent player, which is a big call with the month Pav has had.

But hey this isn't a derby thread, one week at a time eh? ;)

Medhursts problems have come from Medhurst himself. It's been a development year for him in the senior side and he looks to have gone full circle, he should be ready to go.

The big problem is finding someone to drop. I can actually see Johnson coming into the side if Richmond go tall.

What a crockWhy would Thornton be looking over his shoulder?Polak maybe but certainly not Thornton. He is cemented in the side.
There will be only one change for the weekend and that is Peake to make way for Farmer. The kid is a bit stiff but I think he is just about due for a run with the mob from the Aquarium. Not because he has been bad but Farmer is a far better option and will kck a swag first up and second up as well.

IMO Farmer & Johnson will come in for Peake & Crowley.
Richmond will play three talls up forward, Richardson, Stafford & Symonds, they killed us last time. Johnson, Parker & Polak will have to do the job or else MacPharlin may have to go back, but I hope not.

McPharlin in my opinion when he isnt getting the ball for an extended period of time should always be put back in his best position.

I thought that too until he took a screamer 20m out.

1 goal is almost worth 20 minutes of few possessions when its made out of nothing. I think it shows balls just leaving him there and backing the midfield in to win the ball and the young defense to at least break even.

Also ensures they cant triple team pav, safely anyway.

I agree that this will probably happen and as much as I think Farmer is a legend and a required player when fit, I think we'll be losing a fair bit by dropping Peake that won't be replaced by the Wiz.

We'll gain goalkicking power but is anyone else concerned about losing Peake's pace in the middle?

I'm not saying leave Farmer out, just saying that perhaps someone else should make way for him, Polly maybe? Or is losing a tall not a good idea?

Polak might actually do alright on Richo!

Thoughts?
