Knights was fantastic for us against the Dockers, imo he's now a walk up start at the AFC. Douglas has bounced back after a tough game against Sydney and so he should be rewarded with a guernsey next week. For mine Vince and Porplyzia are the ones who will struggle to keep their spots as the bulk of their abilities are useful in the midfield (where Goodwin and Edwards prevent them from getting an eye in); these guys, along with Pfeiffer, are real shows to force into our best 22 once our older blokes move on. At this stage they're being rotated a lot between the midfield and forward line, so they're not getting "comfortable". Douglas had the same problem and has now found his spot in defense.

Executive summary: I see Vince and Porplyzia out, Bode and Welsh in, and Pfeiffer in for Reilly. You read it here first. :D

Are you saying for the sake of being different or do you genuinely believe he has earned a spot in the side?

Little from column A, little from Column B.

Im not privvy to the training information etc, so i wouldnt have a clue if hes earned his spot. I do know this, i couldnt give a rats -complete Blighty quote to win secret prize- about SANFL form to be honest.

That’s a bit simplistic don’t you think?

As everyone knows the main thing holding Jericho back is his hardness at the man and the contest. He simply doesn’t go in hard enough and he is too lackadaisical. If he can improve on these areas then perhaps he could become a decent AFL player. However after watching him play twice on ABC he has not attended to these issues so any hope of him becoming the player the coaching staff believes he could be has been dashed.

Drummond, clearly he has earned a spot in the side. That dash, that hardness at the footy, those silky skills...

As for Jericho, he phails. ;)
:p

Surely Kenny comes in :thumbsu: Although I do think it might be a bit soon, if anyone can do it Kenny Mac can!

Of course its simplisitic to look at the SANFL form only, yet you keep quoting the one kick game.

Its interesting how two people can watch the same game and get a different opinion, i watched the West vs Sturt game, and thought Jericho played a good game, meanwhile he was getting the crap bagged out of him on this board for it. I think given the opportunity, Jericho could still have a role to play within our team, that could contribute to some wins. That Craigy persisted with him this year might mean he sees something as well.

Hinge, Jericho and Pfeiffer. You’re in charge of selection, who do you pick?

Who am i replacing? Its not that simple.
I’m making it that simple. You have the choice to bring in only one of them into the side, who would you pick? Jericho has been playing mostly as a running defender over the past 9 months, and both Pfeiffer and Hinge can play in defence. Actually all three can pretty much play anywhere.

But all things being equal, who would you prefer in the side?

At this stage... Reilly.

At this stage? Welsh ;)

The point i was trying to make, is that i think there might be different roles the players are suited to. Id probably favour Jericho in a more attacking role, but either Pfeiffer or Hinge in a more defensive role etc.

Unfortunately, it will never be that simple. Team balance is more important than your like or dislike of any particular players.

Fine forget it, it's obviously hopeless. You can forget his 1 kick performance all you like, but I know I wouldn't want to see him being rewarded for games like that.

I actually answered your question partially in the post above the one you quoted.

If he is 'rewarded' it wont be for bad games. At the same time, i dont like the idea of a player being overly 'punished' for having a shocker. Jericho was made the scapegoat of last years NAB cup grand final, and that really wasnt fair.

The people had their say... ;)

That's the thing though, nothing has changed. He has these “off days” all too often where his commitment can be questioned. He won’t make it because of this.

The people are frequently wrong ;)

See: Matthew Clarke, Scott Stevens, Ian Perrie, Robert Shirley, Matty Bode, Brett Burton and more.
Here we go again; it's always the same argument every time with Jericho fans. All those guys you mentioned may have been bagged at various stages of their careers, some still are, but you could never question their commitment whereas you can with Jericho. He has the skills, but not the heart. He just doesn't seem to want it; either that or he has a weird way of showing it.

Now thats just flat out wrong. Many of those players have been called soft, lazy, and had their overall commitment challenged.

Look at all the bagging of Scott Stevens after the West Coast game last year, he was called soft, weak and everything else under the sun. The fact is, alot of Crows have been bagged unfairly after losses, and alot have proven the baggers wrong. I wouldnt mind adding Jericho to that list.

Fair call on Stevens, I'll pay that.

Jericho won't prove me wrong, fact. I shall leave it at that. ;)

No?!

So those posts labeling Hentschel as soft, tentative, dud etc from his first few games have all of a sudden disappeared?

I am not saying Jericho should get a game. I have struck up for him in the past and god knows my patience is at a breaking point but a lot of players from this very list have been questioned about their lack of heart, perceived softness and what not.

Jericho has his chance to deliver until the end of the year. If his intensity and ball handling don't improve, its time to go Jericho ;)
