The biggest mistake we could make is to have wholesale changes further unsettling this poor bloody team! :thumbsd: Make the changes that are necessary - not just because.

Out: Bassett (inj) Roo (omm)

In: Goodwin, Burton

Move Bock or McGregor back to plug Bassetts loss. Burton to the forward flank, Goodwin to the midfield.

If Roo gets dropped he will retire i.e will not happen

I don't think at least I hope he wouldn't put himself before the team. What the team needs is more important than one mans ego.

If Mark Ricciuto get dropped it will be a ****ing disgrace – pull your head. We have bigger problems in the midfield than the poor form of Mark Ricciuto

That's a very ordinary comment.

I know you don't think Roo should be in the side, but you cannot possibly question his motivation, and saying he's playing for his own ego is a massive insult.

Can someone please tell me why Welsh is still in our side?

He should be the first one dropped; someone with some stats post up his performances this season. They have been disgraceful.

FFS Welsh has kicked more goals than anyone else in the team! Nuff said about that.

I didn't say Roo was playing for his ego... I suggested that if he were asked to go back to the two's to see how he went, that he would do so for the good of the team. If he said "stuff you, I retire" as you seemed to suggest he would, then he would be playing for his ego and not the team.

It will be more of a disgrace if he's not. Why should we play with effectively 17 men on the ground?

Throw the same side in again...it's not like the forwards earn their spot at all and there has been none of the regulars down there omitted at all.
Bock/McGregor probably going to be exposed for pace wherever they are put.
We don't have any height once again and apparently we are to omit Griffin by some peoples suggestions?
How about the side is made to look like a football side instead of utilities and tryers with poor skills and poor mobility.
We have talls and KPP sitting around waiting with better skills and mobility, sure players are not performing terribly but they aren't performing well and mediocrity just doesn't cut it at the highest level.
If you can't make an effective stab pass what are you doing in an AFL team.
delivery is poor yadda yadda, what forward is making the kicking easy? They are poor targets...and they are getting outmarked by backman in 50/50 contests its shocking.

He was forced into defense after Bassett went down which hurt our forward movements; he was particularly damaging earlier in the game and set up a beautiful goal for Reilly.

Porps is not a defender and it showed today.

Putting Porps down back was a mistake. He showed Wirrapunda a clean set of heels every time...If I submitted votes this week he wouldve got the lot.

The other change that needs to happen is Roo to Westies...perhaps Burton can replace him. Roo got into the game a bit in the second quarter but has struggled since his return and needs to be dropped.

Up until that comment I respected everything you have said even wanting to keep Wall in the side, but that comment is a disgrace.

His efforts have been very good going in hard for the ball. He has taken two very hard knocks when he returned, and in an interview last night, you could see a 4 to 5 inch scar on his forhead. Those knocks would have laid others out cold, he took it, accepted it and is trying his best.

More I could say about a couple of others.

I did say to you earlier, lets not start a pork poor "Kick Tredders while he's down" thread and you replied you are not going to do that.

You have started.

Not happy Jen.

So because I am questionning your apparent favourite players ability, you now don't like me? :( I am not kicking him while he is down. I will say what I always say Mark, I call it how I see it. That comment above has been taken out of context, it was in response to someone who has blind faith that the great man will be great once again - but at what expense? IMO Mark's efforts have been not even one fifth a shadow of the ability he has been. He can't make a tackle stick, he certainly can't run and can't turn. He is struggling with every aspect of the game. I would never question his endeavour. He tries, he really tries, but that is just not good enough at the moment in a team that is also really struggling. If it were anyone else Mark - or we were playing like we were last year - ask yourself honestly - would you still be screaming for him to be there? If we weren't struggling Id have no problems with him finding form within our team, but he is - quite badly - and his inability to play at the moment is leaving us a man short. We need to make the finals and I can't see us doing that playing a man down.

It will be more of a disgrace if he's not. Why should we play with effectively 17 men on the ground?

Because it called having faith in our best ever player and captain to turn around a poor patch of form very quickly.

FFS he has played 4 games this season and you want to drop him, have you forgotten about the other 300 odd good one he had played and built up a bit of trust and respect that he can actually play this game.

Our midfield was smashed last week (and it wasn’t the first time this season either) and much to the chagrin of some, Michael Doughty, Robert Shirley, Nathan Van Berlo Marty Mattner and even Chris Knights would get dropped before the great man Mark Ricciuto.

I am not saying he is immune from being dropped but he has build up enough trust and respect from the players, coaches and even us supporters to get a bit longer than 4 bloody games of poor form

So do you think the way Roo is playing he deserves his place in the team? I reckon he is really struggling with the pace of AFL & would benefit from a game or so with Westies.

IMO, it would be a mistake to play Douglas as a permanent forward. I don't think there is a place in the midfield & defence is easier to play. My understanding was that he played in defence earlier in the season when I was overseas.

I agree he hasn't done anything to retain it, apart from being Roo, he just won't get dropped

I think all the above posts have talked about Douglas enough but I do believe they are trying to get him to beable to play as a crumbing forward/ midfielder (well so i'm lead to believe) so considering out weak goal scoring why not continue to development

Roo won't be dropped on form - end of story.

When Goody and Burton are fit - they will come in for the likes of Porplyzia and Massie

When Bode is fit then players like Doughty will have their form scrutinised more closely

Perrie - who I think is still part of our best 22 should re-boot the radar in the SANFL while Gill is given a run. We need to answer the Gill question over then next 9 weeks....definitively.

With Stevo struggling physically against the bigger forwards he needs to become our third tall forward.....or he probably doesn't have a spot. Sure he's good value as he can pinch hit down back - but other than that he is worth more up forward.

After being a "Bock for CHF" fan he needs to to go back to cover for Stevens.

so for this week it's

Out Bass
In Gill

Stevens Rutten Johncock
Mattner Bock McLeod
Massie Reilly Doughty
McGregor Gill Edwards
Ricciuto Welsh Porplyzia

Hudson Thompson Shirley

Griffin Knights van Berlo Torney

but working towards including Perrie, Bassett, Goody, Burton, Bode at the expense of Gill, McGregor, Massie, Porps, and maybe someone like Doughty.

all this ignores the good form of Douglas who probably deserves a spot...and assumes Edwards is ok

FFS Welsh has kicked more goals than anyone else in the team! Nuff said about that.

It's not exactly impressive that he's kicked more goals than anyone in OUR team.

Once again, where are the statistics on Welsh this year?

Someone posted them somewhere else - he has kicked a couple of bags, either when they game is already done and dusted, or against pathetic opposition.

Against good teams, he has done nothing, and his efforts have been sub-standard.

Well he saved our bacon about 3 times this year. But I do agree. Mind you we dont have much else really and as I said earlier he could just as easy come out this week and kick another bag.

Roo would serve us best as our entry man or long field goal kicker, he might as well just run along next to Knights and Shirley and get the hand ball from them all game as I don't like what they do with the ball though they get it well.
Porplysia is underkicking it very often not getting the distance something is dodgy there his tackling is also weak, Edwards tends to be overkicking it... Do they have some kind of eye disorder messing with their depth perception or something?
Thompson could stand to be told to kick the freaking goal not look around for nothing.
We have a problem in Doughty and Mattner, Doughty isn't damaging or defensive enough to be put on the wing and Mattner can only do so much in defense a position where Doughty would likely be out of his depth height-wise as well, he seems to have taken on more of a previous Shirley role and is not up to it nor has he ever graduated into a ball winner or line breaker or receiver he really doesn't add anything but a an in between hand ball link man that is not a notable tagger where as Shirley would win it.
Mattner can play the role that Bassett plays but he can't match up on way taller leadout opponents that drag him back to the goals nor can he tackle people in that spot I'd even like to see him up forward.
The only place for Doughty would seem the HFF with his ability to be invisible...If he could be omitted for Douglas it would be preferable.
Douglas should be rewarded and put down forward, however there is not much he can do if we don't have someone playing a battering ram roll.
Welsh would be fine if he knew that when he closes his hand it makes a fist.
You do not get outmarked as a forward it's a disgrace.

When?

Against Richmond, when else?

4 in the last quarter against the Roos and Carlton. Now I realise they are not quality defensive sides and perhaps against the Roos we may have won anyway but at least he stood up then. Look he is so inconsistant its almost unbearable but when we are so thin on forwards at the moment hes gotta play.

Frankly we cannot afford to carry him for any more games. Particularly now we lose Bassett for 8 weeks. If he doesn't perform this week, he should be - no, MUST BE - dropped back to the twos.

What does losing Bassett have to do with Roo losing his spot? We lose one of our most experienced players, so we should also lose a second?

What happened to faith in the captain? I think people are over-reacting cos of the WCE loss. VB gets 15 possessions and everyone offers him their first born. Roo's presence on the ground is invaluable.
