Changes for next week

You're right, Kepler has been unfairly treated by most posters on this board. I think your analogy of sheep was spot on.

He was superb for the falcon's this week, and yes he does offer us something - 200cm and very, very mobile! He can play ruck and be very mobile like all of the best ruckmen in the comp atm, but he can play forward or back as well!

Sheep have eyes...
Have you watched him play?
The only decent game I've seen him play was as forward in Hird/Sheedy's last game.

Regulars facing the axe after Tigers loss: Harvey

16th April 2008, 10:15 WST

Several regular starters for the Fremantle Dockers are facing the axe after Sunday’s dismal loss to Richmond, coach Mark Harvey said today.

Harvey today flagged several changes to Fremantle’s line-up after Sunday’s dismal performance on Sunday.

He echoed captain Matthew Pavlich’s sentiments by saying the Dockers lacked competitiveness and weren’t proud of their performance. Earlier this week, Pavlich said there were no excuses for the Dockers pathetic showing against the Tigers.

Much-maligned forward Chris Tarrant will be “in the mix” for selection while Des Hedland will be assessed at training after pulling up sore.

Neither Brock O’Brien nor Andrew Browne are a chance to play despite solid early form in the WAFL.

“Because of the pace and fitness of the game, these guys have to play four to five full games in the WAFL before we even look at them,” Harvey said.

Harvey revealed that Heath Black has a partial tear in his quad that will prevent him from returning to the line-up this week.

SHAYNE HOPE

-------------------------------------------------------------------
No Brock, no Browne, no Black but there will be "several changes".

Get ready for McManus and MCarr to be named tomorrow... :(

Matt Carr  step backwards
Browne  step backwards (see Thornton's game last week)
Ibbo  (more deserving youngsters than Ibbo at present)
Black  (Needs another 2-3 weeks building fitness)

I might be one of the few that see the value in a quality tagger. Carr may cough the ball up two or three times a game, but it was quite apparent there are another 14 players that will fill that void in his absense anyway.

So I say Matt Carr deserves a spot. I don't care if it is backwards. I say losing to Richmond by 60 points at home is going back to the twighlight zone. If he plays it frees up one of our players to be more attacking and it negates one of their best.

Browne is not a step in the wrong direction IMO. Have you followed his career much? Even if you watched the WAFL GF last year he was pretty much the best in the losing side. If he could get a run uninjured I believe he would be a very good player at AFL level.

I am pro-Ibbo. I think he will adjust to the tempo of AFL, and he is a straight swap for Peake.

You are right on Black, as IP pointed out. Shame that.

Injury Update has MiJ as ready to play this week. That seems logical. It seems everybody is beating for the Drumster to get a run, apart from the coaching staff.

____!

Major step backwards, you are right IP it really looks like that will be the case, however I don't see how that supports the whole "altering the line-up to combat the Crows running power" thing

Sheep do have eyes but very small brains ,
How many games have you seen him play?
By the comments on this board I/d say not many ,
he dominated VFL last season something Murph and Campbell couldnt do,so stop relying on other opinions, you know they will bag anything purple and support the guy,he just might surprise.

I agree that a lot of posters are bagging him without actually seeing him play. He is very athletic and probably offers more than either of Murphy or Campbell at this stage. Which is a shame given how promising Murphy looked only 18 months ago.

He seems to make some poor decisions at times but if we can keep him out of key defensive roles, it shouldn't be a major issue. Everyone remembers that kick across goals in the ANZAC day game last year, what about the mark before it running back with the flight of the ball?

Bradley could quite easily play a role similar to what Richo did on the weekend. Hell, Bradley and Tarrant could take turns at it.

I think that is our problem, we need 2 guys to handle the job that one should be capable of.

Headland shouldn't be dropped from an outsiders point of few. Against Richmond he hurt his knee which would have to be a contributing factor in how he played.

If he doesn't play for any reason other than injury, it will be unjustified in my opinion.

Best of luck to turning the year around!

Until round 11 of course ;)

Agree. Browne is very hard at it, in and under ball winner. IMO EXACTLY the sort of player we need to bring into the team. Never takes a backward step. If we could keep him on the park he'd be a gun.

Campbell has the turnaround of a mack truck - i reckon he would just get exploited a-la Fraser Gehrig with adelaide's runners off half back...

Drum...ok agree there...but he is a defender & a defender must miss out if Drum comes in...enter Thornton (pppppplllllllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeee)

Foster...only played teh 1 wafl game, & if Harve is saying that Brock needs 5 games in the Wafl prior to being looked at, foster has no hope

Michael Johnson?> surely

Cows have Griffen and Tippett as rucks and Maric as an emergency. Warnock I think needed to play.

McManus I think adds fight and intensity. M.Carr I'm not convinced of but then we're missing Headland, hopefully Ibbo gets the nod ahead of Carr.

Hinckley and Drummy I hope play. Brock if he needs game time wont travel, if he does he'll play.

Tazza I think a little unlucky although probably left out for family reasons.

The crows rucks are hardly Dean Cox and Mark Seaby though.
