Ladson played ok for the 1st Half.

OUT
Peterson - not good enough tonight
Bateman - Something wrong, no hunger? Skills seem to have abandoned him
Osborne - Gave too many silly free kicks away, no impact.

IN
Renouf
Mitchell (obvious, if fit)
Muston

here is the press conference, i would like to ask the question,

"was renouf sick/ ill at 1.59pm yesterday? if yes, why wasn't lisle held back from box hill and sent to tassie as a stand by. A key question, that needs to be answered

Dead right. The failure to support Renouf this season is criminal. Coaches don't seem to realise that rotating Hodge, Roughy Buddy etc through there means they're too stuffed to finish off games.

Man I wish everyone would get over this Lisle crap - the guy isn't ready, no way in hell.

Ins for next week:
If any of Renouf, Mitchell, Hooper are fit I want them straight in.

Outs
Rioli - really don't want to ruin this guy.
One underperforming senior-ish player
Peterson. Has had a good season but I'd prefer to nurse Youngy up to speed. Having the two of them in (as they're both not quite up to the required AFL match fitness required) isn't a great thing imo.

What was Roughy's performance like in the Ruck today? Wouldn't mind seeing Morts or Dowler come in to play the second forward role and give us two bigger bodies in the middle.

As the weeks drag on, I am leaning more towards thinking Roughy should be thrown into backline. He plays well back there, has a good long kick out, and it makes our defence seem a little more beefy...

Put Dowler or Morton, whoever is most ready, up front with Buddy. They might get a few easy possessions/goals as defences push all the resources to Buddy. If they get their hands on the ball, they surely would have better accuracy than Roughy right now...?

Unsure about the Lisle situation. It's patently obvious we need a back-up ruckman (if only because occasionly your only ruckman does get sick before the game and pulls out). But yet they still don't select him, even though the situation is dire and there are no other options. There must be good reasons for that...

JKT, Shiels and Stratton should stay, Sewell good first up, solid efforts tonight I thought. Feeling sorry for Hodgey, last two weeks he has gutted it out, and been let down by some fellow players...

Schoenmakers and Peterson need more work. Good signs though.
Disappointing few weeks from Young (probably expected), Ellis, Birchall, Bateman, Ladson, Osborne. Don't seem hungry. Guerra looks to be far too relaxed with the pill - up until the point where it's too late...

Maybe it's time to bring Muston in for another crack too? Great long kicks in the VFL. Thing is, we looked much better tonight when the ball was coming in long to Buddy, I always felt we were chance to goal in those circumstances, even if the mark is spilled.

oh and Mitch and Renouf would be great too, thanks...

Missed our chances tonight, especially in front of goal. I'm constantly whingeing about umpires, but I think they got gifted a couple of goals in 50-50 calls. Also, a couple of times I thought we got the free for high, only to find we were pinged for holding the ball!

Long year ahead... should take the opportunity to try out some different stuff... like kicking the ball long and fast inthe the forward 50 :)

Cheers

Paul D.

I said it once and I'll say it again, bring in Lisle!

I don't give a rats if he is not up to it at the moment. He's got height, he can jump, he can tap the ball, kick, handpass. Done! What more do you want???

No more of this 3rd man up BS. It's a waste! Roughy nearly injured himself at one point when came down heavily in a centre bounce ruck contest. Will it take an injury to make the well overdue change????

Roll the dice and bring him in!!

I think we need some height in our side we are playing like a side of short people trying to run the ball. I think we should have two of Dowler Lisle or morton in the side for next week. Hopefuly mitch comes up as well

Renouf and Mitchell should both come in.

Ellis out. JKT holds his spot - will be majorly pissed if he doesn't.

Whitecross may make way for Mitchell but I would prefer to keep playing him as he is part of the future. Maybe we will see a big name such as a Ladson or Guerra out of the side? Peterson is the other one who may go back to Box Hill but if we were to drop him I would bring in a tall such as Dowler.

Young had 10 touches and JKT 26 and a goal, yet you want to drop JKT? Am I missing something?

JKT played rather well, although disposal still needs work. I only said JKT out on the basis that he was an emergency this week. Could be anyone out of today's team bar a few who played well.

I'm more interested in the IN's. If Hooper is ready I'm tempted to do as another poster suggested above and rest Rioli for Hoops to come straight back in. Should Mitch be right for next weekend? He was only a late withdrawal after all...Renouf should be over his virus and Muston definitely made a claim with his efforts for Box Hill.....

Purely a guess here, but I can't see the coaches dropping Ladson, Birchall, Young, Murphy etc. My uneducated guess is still Renouf in for JKT and if Mitchell is ready, he comes in for Peterson. If Hoops or Muston get the call up, I have no idea who else is dropped. Not necessarily what I'd do, but what I think might happen.

In Mitchell, Renouf and Lisle
Out Peterson - useless tonight. Murphy, sorry but we look so slow with him fumbling around laterally. Ellis - is butchering the pill and needs to fix it in the magoos. KT was better tonight and deserves his spot.
I want us to play our players in there rightful positions and not compensate for ruck deficiencies. I don't care if Lisle is not quite ready, he's a big lad and only needs to contest and bring the ball too ground.

It will be a farce if JKT doesn't play next week. Ellis is in no mans land as a footballer. Jack of all trades master of none. We need him to develop a specialty - he needs time back at Box Hill.

Too many players out of form at the moment. Ladson, Ellis, Birchall & Osborne are all testing my patience, but you simply cannot drop them all.

Chance Bateman is a real worry. What happened to this bloke? Just constantly turns it over, even when under little pressure.

Ok after thinking this through and being totally objective

Ins
Renouf - given only ruckman we have

Mitchell - if he is fit

Dowler - We need some height in the side and we need to see if he has it in him over the next few weeks. He can play high half forward.

Lisle - Need him to do 5% and share with hodge roughead etc plays the rest of the time in the forward line

Outs

Peterson - needs a rest running on empty

Ellis - Needs to go find some form at BH ( i will go cheer him on down there)

Clinton Young - Need his dash but since he is no where near the player we require at the moment and since we have JKT he goes back to BH and tries to force his way back in

Cyril - need to rest him before we ruin him

Osborne would have been my other choice if Rioli stays in has not been providing us with anything meaningful and is hurting the side with the free kicks and 50 meter penalties

Forgot Ladson he would also be a likely candidate

who cares who comes in not like they wil want to play anyway
Besides clarko is stuck in a time warp
season over simple as that, just start playing the kids rebuild for 2011
and while we are at sign up paul roos, clarko can build you a team but he sure as hell coach it:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

OUT: Resting on the laurels of 08, Overuse of handball, stupid decision making

IN: HEART, TACKLING, HARD BALL GETS

Lisle, Dowler, Morton? Not up to it. You guys are ridiculously knee-jerk.

In: Mitch, Renouf
Out: two of Ellis/Peterson/Whitecross

Peterson most likely to stay for (relative) pace against fast Bombers.
Talk of dropping Birch or Guerra or Ladson or Bateman shows you are either too upset to think sensibly or have little idea what you're talking about. Or you're drunk.

Making the eight is far from a forlorn hope.

Ok, people will probably question a few moves here but this is my opinion as I sit here pissed off about our performance against North

In: Mitchell, Renouf, Muston, Breust, Dowler, Moss
Out: Ellis, Schoenmakers, Gilham, Stratton, Whitecross
, Murphy

B: Guerra, Roughead, Muston
HB: Birchall, Hodge, Ladson
C: Lewis, Mitchell, Kayler-Thompson
HF: Osborne, Franklin, Breust
F: Brown, Dowler, Rioli
Foll: Renouf, Sewell, Shiels
Int: Bateman, Young, Moss, Peterson

Top 10 Reasons For Team Above:

1: Hodge took ownership of the back half and carried us to a premiership. Let him do it again.

2: Lets get a third tall defender that can run and create. Murphy, Gilham and Stratton do a job but wont run and create.

3: Lets play someone at full forward who can kick straight.

4: Lets play a KPP down back who can actually back himself to take a mark. Remember Croad - Roughead can do that.

5: Lets play as many potential goal kickers as possible. Breust and Moss can kick goals, lets play them.

6: Schoenmakers needs a rest. He will be a good player but lets give him a break for a week and then let him spend a fortnight taking 15 marks a week for Box Hill.

7: Ellis needs to earn his spot. He doesn't do enough and his light frame makes him useless defensively.

8: Lets give Peterson the gig as back up ruckman until we get Taylor, Skipper or Bailey back. He has a leap and would obviously beat his opponents at ground level.

9: Keep Rioli close to goal until his tank is ready. I hate seeing him on the bench while the ball is in the forward 50.

10: Get Franklin Mobile!!! Why does he want to wrestle everyone these days??? He has been given the most athletic, tall, body in AFL history (along with Nic Nat) and he wants to play like Plugger!

In: Mitch and Renouf. (Although Im not certain about Mitch returning, it is Hawthorn we are talking about after all)
Out: Peterson and Ladson. That kid needs some time in Box Hill.

The rest of them step up, play like we know you can! :thumbsu:

!

Absurd amount of changes there. The one thing lacking at the moment is consistent four quarter efforts. Replacing a quarter of the team is not exactly going to promote consistency is it? Mitchell and Renouf to come back in, possibly Breust for Osborne..but I would be against making wholesale changes. We don't want to lose to Essendon.

I agree 6 is usually too many but I think the team I have named is better than the one that ran out sunday night so I would do it.

Lisle, Dowler, Morton? Not up to it. You guys are ridiculously knee-jerk.

Knee jerk??? I like many others having been calling for Lisle to come in to end this 3rd man up crap for the past couple of weeks. It's not working!

Renouf needs help and wasting the likes of Roughead, Hodge etc does not help the cause. And like I mentioned earlier, there was already a bit of an injury scare when Roughead landed hard on the centre square after a bounce and was clutching around his knee. We simply cannot afford to risk Roughead in the ruck and have him out with a knee injury of all things.

Lisle has the height, has some experience rucking, all he needs to do is provide a contest and free up the other guys. It's not rocket science.

B: Guerra - Gilham - Brown

HB: Stratton - Roughead - Hodge

C: Birchall - Sewell - JKT

HF: Moss - Franklin - Lewis

F: Rioli - Shoenmakers - Osborne

R: Renouf - Mitchell - Shiels

Int: Lisle, Ladson, Young, Muston

Out: Ellis (omit) Peterson (just needs a rest) Murphy......? Actually thought he played alright last night, but I couldn't fit him into the team and Bateman (where has his skills gone?)

I would rest rioli too, but even he just stands in the square we will win

Lisle and muston just have to come in, regardless of form. We at least have a better structure and while muston may turn it over, a turn over after a 60m bomb towards our goals > stupid handballs from Ellis.

Probably too many changes, but thats what i would like to see

Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

After watching us play North and them getting smashed by the Blues, I don't think either teams could beat an egg right now.

Still, something has to give. The loser goes 1-5 and fair to say, can effectively start booking their off-season.

Questions to ponder during the week:

- Will Mitchell return?

- Will Dowler or Burgoyne trip over a daisy and further delay their return?

- Will more ruckmen get injured and will Shiels become our new ruckman?

Will certainly be a fascinating week.
