I'd like to see Muston come in. A bit of that exuberance and dash might rub off on his teammates. (Fingers crossed.)

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

Ellis, Ladson out,
Renouf, Mitchell in

Assumption is Mitchell will be right to play. If he doesn't then Dowler comes in.

Ellis has been poor and needs a run in the twos to either get confidance or get the message that he is struggling and needs to lift.
Ladson has been poor and again, needs to go back and find the footy.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

Win, lose or draw... season already over.

Hopefully we get a few more injuries so then questions can be thrown around.

Poor form. Yes, we've had a shocker of a start to the season, for various reasons. We're only 2 games out of the 8 though, with 17 games to go.

Chin up. Have faith. The boys will be back to their best.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

in Muston,Dowler,Lisle,Renouf,Mitchell.

out Ellis,Ladson,Changa,Peterson Young.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

We can't afford to lose changa - but yes he does need to lift.

In: Renouf, Mitchell
Out: Ellis, Whitecross

Young gets one more week to find some form in the 1s.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

Young hasn't played footy for long time,it will take a few weeks to get back up to normal.
Dowler and Renouf need to come in.
and Mitchell if he is ready.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

OUT
Ladson.
Peterson
WX

INS
Sammy (if hes right) Dowler if hes not.
Renouf
Lisle (we need a back up ruckman, just in case.)

i dont understand calls for Youngy to be dropped he has been out of it for so long, he can be forgiven and truthfully he didnt play bad.

Ellis for me i like him no im not saying he has played fantastic every game but his form for me doesnt get him dropped.

Bateman if he's injured give him a rest, if he's not kick him up the ass and just pray that it makes him play better.

Ossie will get a go simply because we have no one to replace him with.

Clarko needs to wake up, he cant keep players in just because they are premership players or because he has a soft spot for them.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

Clarko hasn't been in a position to make a statement at the selection table for some time. Ratten dropped Waite & Thornton a couple of weeks back and the Blues have looked good since.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

ellis, ladson, osborne, bateman and birchall are a shadow of their former selves....obviously we cant drop them all but i do believe a message needs to be sent and perhaps ellis and/or ladson should go to box hill

they need to find their form and earn their spot back on merit, not just play by default. i know our list is spread pretty think at the moment because of injuries, but hopefully mitchell and renouf are fit this week as they are straight inclusions

i watched the box hill v coburg on the weekend and it was a very scrappy game due to horrible wind conditions. but dowler was servicable given the circumstances although he didnt do any spectacular. given our plight, and the fact that dowler and muston have been in our system for 4-5 years now, surely its time for one or both of them to step up and contribute

hopefully we can have a settled forward line this week with roughy and buddy running rampant up front against the dons.

hopefully....

Do you actually understand what you posted ?

I have been fortunate to miss the past few games due to Australia Network's kind match choices, so basing this on radio, newspapers and BF.

But... I would include whoever, literally whoever, is the best tackler in training this week. Tell them that today, and let everyone go at it - best tackler is in regardless of size, age, position. Play tapes of Melbourne's matches since we beat them - we have the list to do that at least!

Kind of like the idea of Muston for enthusiasm and long kicking too.

Outs - NOT the usual whipping boys. Drop those who are genuinely out of form / not fully recovered.

There's not a lot of love for Brendan Whitecross. Am I the only one who thought he went ok?

he was good and solid. still believe he needed some time at box hill to gain confidence. but, done well yesterday, composed as well.

Not saying he won't be good down the track but I thought White-X was ordinary last night - not bad (there were worse), but ordinary. I didn't see an upside to his being out there. I am not a huge Suckling fan but I believe that, despite being slower, Suckling's kicking would have made him more valuable running out of defence last night than what was provided by White-X.

He does a few okay things.

My main problem with him is he's fundamentally tiny, easily knocked off the ball.

second, I just don't see that he has any particular outstanding attributes.

Only his second game so hopefully still has a lot more to show.

Re: Changes vs Essendon - Losing team's season is over

Vs the bombers we need pace. And another fwd target to really stretch them - they will be really buddy concious. Would be nice for ac to drop some senior players to shake things up a bit. We also have too many half fit, tired or out of form players in the team.

INS Mitch, renouf, breust (reward good bh form), muston, dowler, hooper
outs: Ellis, young (needs game time at bh), Peterson (needs a rest), ossis (terribly out of form/fitness), guerra or ladson, Murphy (we are geting killed by turnovers and lack of run from defense - unfortunately he is culprit in both)

Geez some people here need to learn something about the word team stability. Also learn about roles players play. Here are some of the players a lot of people are calling to be dropped.

Murphy - Will play every game this year. Has done a decent job this year playing on the mid and small forwards. The day people learn this and get off his back will be a marvellous day. Particularly as we have no one else to do the role.

Ellis - Much better this week then against the Pies. He was not brilliant but really did have an improved game. He was out for a long time last year and is really starting to show what he can do. Would be 10 times the player though if he grew into his body. Give him time.

Goo - This is the worst one I think. Usually a great kick and another player who does well on the smaller forwards. Will never get dropper on form.

Ladson - Loved by the coaches because he is given a role and he does it well. Great kick and good speed. He was out for a long time and is really starting to show glimpses of his 2008 form again. Stupid name to throw up to be dropped. Also another irreplaceable defender.

Peterson - Not as applicable as the others but he has been used in the last couple of weeks more in a KPP role when Roughy is going into the ruck. This is just not his strength and people need to understand this.

The rest I can understand peoples thought about. For me though.
OUT:
Young - Needs time for match fitness and the learn how to find the footy and use it again. He was out for a long time and needs to adjust more.

Ozzie - Just not up to standard. Send him to BHH to find form or his footy career may just be over come seasons end. He does not have the pace he used to have.

IN:
Mitchell
Renouf

Team stability is a very important concept and if 90% of the people in this thread where the coach of the Hawks then the team would struggle to win a game as many have no sense in there thoughts or the consequences

i honestly think he should not be let near our best 22. good kick hmph every kick he had last night was a turnover, he needs to be droped, he should of been dropped a long time ago, he cost us three goals yesterday.

i agree with mostly everything else you said, just not with that.

One of the reasons for Buddy kicking 100+ goals in 2008 was Ladson. His kicking is brilliant and a huge strength to the side. The thing is he needs support which he is not getting. That and he is only just coming back from pretty much a year off the game. Can you really expect him to walk in and play like he did in 2008 straight away? As I said he is showing glimpses and every game showing them more and more.

The problem is however if he is dropper it would mean Muston would come in. Now if you are worried about Ladson turning the ball over then just you wait for Muston to come in and turn the ball over.

One worryinfg thing is the heat will be on the bombers this week. It should be on us but our game is being described as an 'honourable loss' even thogh north had probaly more lids in than we did.

Also the game is bing built up something rotten which is not warranted. A bit hypocritical given the AFL have got stuck into both Hawthorn and Essendon for the infringements which are now being glorified

Could it be that there were more than 1 player ill yesterday?

I pose this question because as I was heading to my seat in the Gunns Stand yesterday, Mossy walked down the stairs past me. I read earlier he played at Box Hill on Saturday. I understand we may have had him fly over as backup because Renouf was ill, but if we were going to fly someone over wouldn't we have flown over an extra tall, given the Kangas have lots of em?

Rioli, Bateman, Youngy all looked flat to me. Even Hodgey looked as though he was struggling at times, fought like hell mind you, just looked a little under the weather?
