Last chance before a spell in the magoos; Osborne, Bateman,
Shoey to be groomed properly in defence one on one at Box Hill the moment we have a second ruck option.

In; Dowler, Morton, Muston, Mitchell

Out; Ellis, Murphy, Ladson, Shiels,

FB: Guerra. Roughead. Stratton.
HB: Muston. Gilham. Birchall.
C: JKT. Mitchell. Bateman.
HF: Osborne Morton. Franklin.
FF: Brown. Dowler. Rioli.

Foll: Renouf. Sewell. Hodge

Int: Schoenmakers, Lewis, Young, Peterson.

Dowler, Morton and Muston all need to be played to see how they go.
Morton’s strength is his running not 10m leads so use him to run his opponent into the ground by being the get out option up to the wings and back.
Franklin never seems to miss from left HF so play him there and MAKE him run or proper left FP because that’s where teams leave the space because he’s a leftie.
Dowler is a far better kick at goal then Roughie and it won’t hurt to have the big Roughs size down back and to give Dowler a bloody go. (Dowler should always get better delivery at senior level then Box Hill which will be better for him; ATM that might not be true:eek:)
Shiels turns 19 tomorrow so he has plenty of time on our list yet, so let’s see what else we have first. (Any doubt on Mitch and Shiels deserves to keep his spot)
Peterson still gets a gig because we have to know what we’re going to do with him at the end of the year.

I’d prefer Morton to do some around the ground “ruck work” and be told to FIRE up and run off rather then risk Rough, Hodge, Shoe or Dowler. That is of course if his stuffing his been put back in after having it knocked out at Box Hill last week. And Shoe to fill his CHF role when Morton is tearing it up in the ruck. :D

Ellis and Ladson do not deserve to be dropped. Both tried very hard last week, but their disposal was just off by 5%. Ellis actually got a bit of the ball and was often first to lay a tackle after the ruck contest.

Ozzie, Goo and Youngy offered nothing. Yongy might escape the chop considering he is comming back from injury, but no excuse for Oz and Goo.

I'm sorry but this is madness. Guerra is the thin stubborn understain holding the underpants of our defence together.

Dropping him would be catastrophic.

I agree, why the **** would you drop your designated kicker...the player who runs through packs at a whim and provides hardness around the ball...

my god there are some dumb bastards on here

i'd consider unleashing shiels and making changa tag stanton/whoever.

always been an advocate of roughy down back too but not sure if that will ever permanently happen. would he be a good match up for neagle?

I think neagle playing is a good match up for us...therefore neagle on neagle should be a nil all draw :p

I concur.

hehe, funny thing is you could say the same for most of their players but.......we still need to win.

despite how the season has panned out thus far i remain confident of a comfortable win, this match is gonna have a hollywood ending.

Please, Please, Please.............

Clarko name a second ruckman tonight. Let our forwards be forwards, our mids stay under the contest and our defenders defend.

1 Ruck hasn't worked and the time has come for a traditional setup.

The second ruck only needs to be able to provide a body at the contest for 8 minutes a quarter.

Re: Please, Please, Please.............

um , there all injured or not strong enough core wise

Re: Please, Please, Please.............

I think Clarko should consider withdrawing both Renouf and Roughead to take advantage of this loop hole we are so obviously exploiting.

Re: Please, Please, Please.............

And we should withdraw Buddy, Hodge and Rioli too as Essendon will have been planning for them.

What it will be:

In: Renouf, Mitchell
Out: Whitecross, Osborne

What I'd prefer:

In: Renouf, Mitchell, Lisle
Out: Murphy, Whitecross, Osborne

In: Hard tackling, Ferocity at the ball, Goal kicking accuracy
Out: Over-handballing, Roughead in the ruck, Hodge in the ruck, Congestion around the ball

I love it when people come in 'why would you drop so and so' but they miss that you’ve also dropped another player and brought in another player.

Been reading these BF team selections for quite awhile before putting up something that is highly unlikely to happen, but the one thing I have noticed is how many people want to drop the bloke who has been our most consistent defender over the past 3 years.

Is it Goo’s fault nobody was running and giving him an option to kick to, which seems to be the big whinge by the people who are calling for him to be dropped, but the same people forget what he does DEFENSELY or how many times he does hit a target when there is someone to hit.

By the way what do Ladson, Murphy, Ellis and Whitecross all have in common?

Staggering that in a midfield that lacks run and pace people are dropping Shiels and some even Clinton Young.

I am somewhat looking forward to seeing our selection moves if both Renouf and Mitchell come back in. Will we make a stance and drop any regulars? If we want to bring Dowler in for structure then 3 changes will be made.

Possibly two/three of Peterson, Ellis, Ladson, Murphy, Whitecross need to be dropped. I would think that Stratton is safe and I will refuse to go to the game if JKT is not in the side. He led the stats for 'metres gained' last week for Hawthorn. Enough said.

The obvious 2 are Peterson and Whitecross. Tough gig for Whitecross as he is clearly underdone when he was selected a few weeks ago and has struggled with form. I think we need his zip moving forward though so if he can find form in a couple of weeks at Box Hill he should be a permanent fixture for Hawthorn for the rest of the season. I have been disappointed with the use of Peterson - would like to have seen him played as a leading forward rather than flanker/midfielder as he has been. Hopefully he can kick some bags at Box Hill if he ends up there.

If one more has to go then I reckon Ellis and Ladson are under the gun and deservedly so.

Nev - you really think Ossie will be dropped for Essendon ? Sticking with Peterson ?
I love Chubbs and completely forgot about him. He probably needs a rest, but Osborne has done sweet FA to maintain his selection and by dropping one of our 25-28 years olds in the team we'd be sending a message that no-one's spot is for granted.
