Changes for next week

Beams played a shocker and should be first to get dropped, but I wasn't all to impressed with Wellingham either. Gave away silly free kicks, didn't attack the ball and his ball use was terrible.

It's out of these three to make room for Fasolo:
- Beams
- Wellingham
- Brown (only good thing he did all night was gain 30m in the dying stages. Won't be dropped because Jolly/Wood would be the lone ruckmen).

Brown has to stay in, physicality, adaptability, folly to drop him.
Beams is just not part of the group it seems, body language, how others treat him from within the side... he's just not there. I would speculate about a trip north but there are bigger fish to fry this week.

Not sure about injuries to Jolly and Reid but assuming they play, I say start with dids and fasolo. drop beams and make goldsack the sub.

I tend to agree with a few others and think goldsack will replace beams. I like beams and I reckon we may end up losing him to the suns if this happens however I think goldy will come in and I think he will start and place as a defensive forward on corey enright. He is the man most likely to stop the ball entering or 50 and we simply cannot allow the ball to be marked time and time again by the opposition. We just need someone to make a contest and bring it to ground and give our crumbing forwards a chance and I think goldy is that man.

Dropping Beams after 1 poor match in 8 is why you guys aren't on the selection committee. Could go to the sub but has a supreme record against the cats.

No changes unless forced by injury.

Didak into the main group (because good kicking into the forward line is key)
Blair/Beams to sub

The funny thing is that both Dids and Beamer played relatively well against Geelong last time - and I reckon Mick will back them - bit of faith there.

All Dids needs is a goal imo, and could just ignite him. He has the capabilities to light up games.
Yep i've been on his case all year, but i feel he can deliver. Fas would be fine just his experience worries me.

If Jolls and Reid dont come up - Wood and Goldy seem obvious to me.

Dont like the idea of multiple changes going into a big game - back the boys ability to execute i reckon.

Any "omissions" will give Geelong a scent of panic.

Youre credibility is shot after wanting to drop Dawes.

Brown is 100% certain to play.

Rubbish, Dawes had not taken 1 contested mark in his previous 4 games and had contributed 3 goals and averaged 7 disposals, as i said in that thread, if we select him and he doesn't improve we will lose, and i was right, wouldn't you agree? Dawes kicked as many goals, took as many marks and had as many possessions last week than his previous 4 games combined.

Fact is Jolly is not 100%, i reckon we'll risk him though and if we do we must play wood for insurance against Jolly not finshing the game, if we don't play wood and jolly goes down early it is good night Irene.

Cant afford the insurance premium. You have to pick every player assuming they will get through the game. If they cant assume Jolly will get through then he's out and Wood has to play. We cant go in top heavy with two of them. Brown can still do more around the ground than Wood....even its the 1%'s like his hip and shoulder on Lewis or sheperdeing the ball through on the goal line.

The best insurance player we have is Goldsack as he can play just about everywhere on the ground. He should come in and he might even be the sub. If we get any injuries to Reid or Jolly or another tall, Goldy can cover all of them. I'd rather we used Dawes as a backup ruckman than select Wood "just in case" Jolly breaks down....and use Goldsack up forward.

He is a proven finals player and just needed game time. He was always going to come good but after missing 6-7 weeks it was going to take time.

I was glad to be proven wrong, believe me, but with his previous form questions had to asked, i never said i didn't rate Dawes, i just thought he needed more football than was left in the season to find form, luckily i was wrong.

Last time against the Cats we played all 3.

IMO Wood showed more during the last few games he played than Leyroy has lately, Leyroys form has gone to shit ever since he announced his retirement, i would play Wood ahead of him, wont happen though, just hope big bad Leyroy can turn it on in the GF like we all know he can.

There is no way known we will be playing all three of Jolly, Wood and Brown in the GF.

Leroy plays. Flip of the coin between Jols and Wood depending on whether Jols pulls up.

Starting to get my head around keeping Beams in the side purely on his track record vs Geelong where he is capable of hitting the scoreboard when we need goals.

However, I really think we need The Sack to play in this game.

If we are being honest, out of Jolly and Reid which one would you rather have out on the ground, and also which one have we got backup for?

We simply do not have another centre half back that is capable of playing anywhere near the level that Reid has this year, so Reid at 80% is better then any other option IMO.

As with Jolly, as good as he has been for us, we do have an adequate backup in Cameron Wood.

There was a reason why Cam played the last 2 games of the home and away season, and that was so he would be ready to go at any time in the finals series.

It looks almost certain he will play now, and I've always said we can win the flag with Cam Wood, as long as the rest of the team are there to support him.

I love Jols, but is a 60% fit Jolly, who might break down and leave us with Dawes and Leeroy as the rucks, a better option then a 95% fit Wood (5% off for not playing for a month)?

The Sack MUST play. Pressure will be key, and there a few better in our side than Goldy at providing pressure, anywhere on the ground.

I'd say Beams has to make way for him, because it also gives us extra flexibility down back if we need it [their forward line is mighty dangerous of late]. I love Beamsy, but he just didn't perform on Friday, nor last years GFs. We're not getting a second chance this year.... it will be won or lost on Saturday.

I'm starting to get more confident as time goes by. I know we can win this. We just need to string 4 quarters together.

Likely that Jolly won't play although Larkins is saying he may get through with a jab. Ottens looked old yesterday and I think Wood's ruck style might frustrate Ottens if he starts giving away the ruck infringements like he was yesterday.

The thought of Wood playing gives me nightmares. The reason why they smacked is in 07-09 was due to poor ruckman and thats the reason why we got Jolly. Jab him up and let him play.

Out: Jolly, Someone
In: Wood, Goldsack

with Reid heading in under an injury cloud, we could do with the backline insurance. Id start Goldy, perhaps in a tagging role which will give us the versatility to throw him back if we find ourselves under pressure or if we have an injury

Didak has been terrible and would be the only one I'd "drop". Fasolo has been good as the sub, but bringing him in for the grand final would be risky.

Obviously Reid and Jolly shouldn't play if seriously injured.

If Reid plays Goldsack could come in for Didak. He is a very useful player being able to play forward, back or in a negating role.
