Why are you all so certain Jolly will be dropped?

Strap him up, pump him with painkillers, and get going!

Pain killers are not a magic injury fix. If he is not 100% likely to make it through the game we would be stupid to risk it.

Too ready to mothball Jolly, lads. He'll come up. But what to do with Beams? Does he merit another chance? Can you take the risk that he'll finally click? Surely Fasolo is as much of a gamble.

I'd keep Beams because he was decent against West Coast. I doubt he'll play as bad again as he did last week, and he has a good record against Geelong.

Is Caff a smokey to play?

It's a really interesting question. I wonder if he is fit? I suspect the coaching staff would be dubious about stepping into such a big game having sat out so many leading in.

But I tell you if he were fit for it I would seriously consider it. We could use the extra marking option and tackling pressure up forward and I think we could really use him. He also had a very big grand final last year from memory?

You would think it's Beams vs Fasolo vs Goldsack for one spot in the team.

So, here's their reasons why each of them plays;

Beams; Had a very good home and away series, and has a good record against the Cats. Also can play midfield giving us more rotation through their, the other 2 can not do that.

Fasolo; Future superstar, I think we all know that, his 5 goals versus the Bombers showed how good he will be. He could be the sub, his explosiveness, and ability to impact a game in a short period of time is unmatched by the other two.

Goldsack; The best defensive player of the 3 by a mile, and also the most versatile. He can play forward, back or mid, basically in a defensive role on any of Geelong's stars. He also provides direct backup for Reid if he happened to break down during the game.

Verdict = Goldsack.:)

Caff hasnt played senior footy in AGES, his no chance to get in the team. Fasolo goldy wood are the chances. Jolly and beamz would be the biggest question marks.

31 players have been training in september, apart from the 22 and wood goldsack fasolo, who are the remaing 6?

Sinclair
McCarthy
Buckley
Keefe
Rounds
Caff

At least they were the six last Friday at the last training session.

Tend to agree with matty but think broader team balance issue. For me;

Jolly will play but they will need to take Wood in as insurance. Brown can't play that role for sustained periods so a spot needs to be found for Wood and for me it would be Brown....

Scarlet needs to be negated with someone that can potentially out mark him and match his initial speed. Only blokes I can think of are Caf and Goldsack. I think it's Goldsack. Gold sack will also act as cover for Reid.

For me Fasolo just is to much of a gamble given how he went vs Cats. Did was ok and coach confirmed that. Beams I think would be unlucky but he is the obvious one.

So out for me is: brown and beams
And the ins are: wood and goldsack

Out: Jolly, O'Brien, Beams
In: Wood, Goldsack, Fasolo

I would expect a comment like the above about O'Brien from an anti-Pie troll, but from a supporter!!!!!!!!

In my opinion O'Brien has been the best HBF in the game for the last couple of years. Would love a player like him in the hoops.

i think that makes sense given that we will be up against Ottens and West, Jolly could spend time on the forward line with Cam in the side. Goldsack is would also be a good inclusion.

i wouldnt think we would be making any changes outside the 22 and 3 emergency from last friday

Not commenting on injuries because we wont know about it til late in the week. My main move would be Fasolo for Didak. I see no way in which Didak can help us in the grand final. As a sub he doesnt have the spark. He is also a player who i believe will crumble under the pressure from Geelong. Make no mistake, they will come out to crunch someone like Didak and i feel he has shown that he cant deal with that.

Fasolo on the other hand, sparked us as the sub, and is young. He will be bursting to make amends for his last performance. Id have no issues starting him even.

Guys like Harry O and Beams, well you have to trust their history and recent form. Beams has been great for a long time, and is another who is not scared to get involved.

Interestingly, Id like gold sack in the team, as a defensive forward to ensure we dont have uncontested marks, which would kill us with Geelongs rebound. He also just can provide defensive cover. I just cannot work out who i would have out for him. For mine, Kraks as the sub, and either fas or goldsack for didak.

Gee beams and didak are the interesting ones aren't they. Dids being named as the sub shows just how close he got to missing out

Beams had an awful game but his work coming back from injury has been stellar.

I still think that goody has to come in despite others suggesting fasolo. Really like the kid and he'd probably be next in line (maybe he'll be selected ahead of dids next season, who knows) but godly did his job on embly and can perform a role for us against Geelong

They seem like the most likely changes. I'm hesitant about bringing in Fasolo though.

We can't genuinely consider dropping brown, wood will be murdered in the ruck against the two of them. Who'll be relieving him? Dawes?

I missed the Sunday Footy Show this morning, what was the go on Jolly? Definitely going to miss?

Goldsack has to come in for his tackling and versatility- he showed that in the West Coast final against Embley.

Fasolo would definitely bring the hunger and enthusiasm to the side, but would he start sub?

God I wish there were no subs in the G.F, what a shit rule. The sooner it's gone the better.

- Jolly has been average to poor all year,he isnt that big a loss as people are making him out to be.Id prefer a 100% Wood to a 50% Jolly who is a fair chance to break down early

- Fasolo shouldn't of been dropped. Its time to drop the hammer on Dids he is just completely out of sorts and we have waited and carried him all year. A Fasolo coming off the bench In a grand Final when it opens up could be a match-winner.The funny thing is Fasolo is closer "model" than the the old didak we all love want firing than the 2011 didak

-Beams just had a shocker.Need his run and goal kicking power.

The good doctor said he was a 25% chance to play, which basically says he won't play. They showed terrible vision of him during the game. It would be suicidal to pick him. IMO. Larkins also thought Reid was 80% and SJ 80-90% to play. Claimed that Johnson is walking around quite comfortably already.

That leaves us with Cam Wood as No.1 ruck. He will be absolutely monstered by Ottens just like round 8. I was hoping we would never go into a GF ever again with a ruckman who lacks physical presence after the monstering in 2002 and 2003. Our mids will have to be really smart to negate this huge advantage to the Cats.

IMO, Brown has to play. There were will be a lot of physical targeting early in the game, we need him to be out there. Sit all the slight bodies on the bench until the game settles-Wellingham, Thomas, Didak or Fasolo if either plays.

I think we need to physically target Scarlett, by starting Brown on him.

We have to drop Beams IMO. He has a shocking finals record and is too slow. Given the age of Geelong, pace is one thing that could unsettle them.

Surely Brown stays in, purely for the fact he is going to have a 'get the f**k out of my way or I'll smash you attitude!'

Totally agree, last game, what has he got to lose? 3 weeks? He should go our as a bowling ball and roll a few.

Assuming Jolly and Reid play, my outs would be Beams and Wellingham (however he does play well against Geelong, so might keep him in). One player I would squeeze in is Goldsack as can play him as a forward tag.
Not sure about Fasola as he seemed up against it in round 24. I would keep Dids in but start him on the ground not as a sub.
