Martin unlikely as well, can't see Max Gawn coming from Casey's 2nds strait to Afl, Robbie Campbell might have to come in but he is probably under done, Newton looks like he is going to be our main ruck??? How would Jack Watts go? He did a couple of nice taps in Melbourne's forward line on Sunday.

B: Tapscott, Warnock, Frawley
HB: Davey, Garland, Bail
C: Jones, Moloney, Maric
HF: Green, Dunn, Gysberts
F: Petterd, Jurrah, Watts
FOLL: Martin, Sylvia, Bartram
IC: Wonaeamirri, Evans, Bate
SUB: Bennell
EMERG: Newton

Not a bad side really....Swap evans with Morton and play Juice in the ruck as Martins out. This side can take the 4 points and stick it right up the non believers...
Now we see how good our depth is.

Agree with these points. I can't see Evans being picked. I think he would be a good swap for Trengove as they play similar, but it's time for Morton to step up and be a man! He had 26 touches on the weekend for Casey and had zero impact. I didn't watch the game, but supposeldy he chopped the ball big time. With injuries to Grimes and the suspension of Trengove, his team mates will be looking for him to step up and continue the memnetum built on last weeks win! I'm confident Bailey will pick him. So Cale Morton, let's find out what you are really made of!

And yes, unfortunately it looks like Stiffy Martin is unlikely with bruised ribs. So our options are, as rediculous as it sounds, an underdone Robbie Campbell, a raw and untried Max Gawn, or god forbid Juice Newton! How did it come to this??? Personally, I think we have to have 2 of these guys play! Gawn is fragile and raw and is struggling for impact at Casey reserves. No way he's getting a game. Robbie Campell is more likely as he's played this level before and has the strength to cope, but is likely to break in half at some stage during the game. So, unlikely. Step up Juice Newton! Like Morton, it's time to step up and justify your spot on the list.

I'd play Newton as ruck, and have Dunn as back up. But like I said in another post, we need to have a 3rd guy come over the top in the tapouts or Goldstein will murder us. So I reckon Newton will come is as ruck, Bennell will come in for Trengove and Morton will come in for Grimes. Not sure what other options we have...

And you take Gawn being listed as second best for Casey on the weekend as struggling for impact how?

Macdonald will be an in for sure.

If this is the case, why in hell would we reward mediocrity?!? Actually mediocrity might be an improvement from Morton. Gifting players spots back in the side is not on & the tough stance taken last week should not waiver despite the injuries.

If any rookies warrant an upgrade they should be already pushing for selection, so they should be every chance of going into the team, well ahead of an under performing Morton. If they're not going to be selected this week I'd even suggest they not be upgraded straight away as there's nothing saying we have to make the rookie upgrade immediately

If we can't have Gawn in the team, what about playing an extra mid in the centre bounces with the sole purpose of sharking goldsteins taps, or forcing him to tap in a direction?

Comments from Casey Player review on Gawn
Max Gawn: Maxy went back to the reserves, so he could play a full game, because he’s been playing on and off the bench. He was in the best few players.

VFL Resi's, but still. Review said Campbell got through a half a game, not even close to being an option.

Also read that our other option Juice didn't play a full game as he had to be at the 'G as an emergency, but he did have to ruck against Hampson after the injuries to Gawn/Fitz, so had an experience against an AFL ruckman last weekend.

Gawn was listed as second best for the Casey reserves! I'm sorry, but I just can't see him being picked this week. But he is our only natural ruckman left on our list not injured. I still think Newton will get the gig. And if you have watched any Casey games at all this year, Gawn has had very little impact at all in the senior team. Too raw to be playing AFL. I'd rather throw Newton in there ahead of Gawn at the moment.

And I really don't like Macdonald coming into the team. Our back 6 did a super job against Adelaide and should go in unchanged. Warnock can take Petrie, Garland to Hansen, Frawley to Edwards. The only way Macdonald will get a game is if Kangas go in tall. And that is a risk they may take.

Yeh I understand, but he is actually a great tap ruckman, his work around the ground does leave a bit to be desired but he is no Spencer, he will improve in this aspect significantly

I don't want Macdonald coming into the team either, but i believe that in losing Grimes the match committee will want to replace him with an equally tough and 'stubborn' player (although lacking Grimes' class)

I agree with you, however, we are in an unfortunate position where we have 6 of our best 22 out injured. If Morton can't get a game with us in this situation, then we may as well ship him off to GWS right now. It's time for him to step up, and Bailey should let him know that as well. The team needs him more than ever, and he simply has to play his role. I don't see a lot of others putting there hand up! Bennell should come back in, but after that, no other midfielder looks likely. I think we need to replace a like for like, so we need 2 midfielders and a ruckman. Macdonald has played well for Casey, but I definitely wouldn't be adjusting our back 6 after last weeks super effort.

Agree with Gawn's tapwork, and maybe we could bring him in to do the taps, and have Newton run around the ground with Goldstein. Bailey has a lot to think about at selection this week. I wouldn't be surprised to see both Newton and Gawn named. This might mean Bate or Dunn misses. Really hard to pick which way Bailey will go, and also depends if Stiffy Martin pulls up or not.

As for Macdonald, unless we are prepared to play him through the middle, I can't see him getting a game. Grimes was named as a midfielder against the Crows, and Trengove being another midfielder, I think we need to go with a ruckman and 2 running players this week. Kangas have killed us in the middle the last few times we have played them. We don't want to go in with too few running players. That's why I would choose Bennell and Morton to come in.

Why is the club not releasing anything in regards to Jamar?

anyway think that Bailey may just through Juice in the deep end this week and we may try and use it to our advantage by running Juice and Dunn through the ruck and get them pushing forward as an extra runner...
If Campbell can get through a week in the 1s in the VFL think we'll bring him straight in... he is a fine ruckmen remember and thankgod he is eventually playing...
Other changes for me are Bennel and either Jetta or Evans... oh and Rivers if he is fit... Morton was very ave at the w/e so no point bringing him back yet when the others are playing better than him...

Can't agree with you there. I think Morton has been a fine contributor to us in the past & will be again, but he was rushed into the senior side from his injury & his current form doesn't warrant senior selection, regardless of our injury troubles. He's still pretty young & just because of injury to other players where we could really use him, doesn't mean we ship him off if he can't step up.

It's not like we've lost half our team, we've got 2 midfielders to replace who's spots he could potentially come in for, Maric played more up the ground than ever last week, Bennell in & the 2 of them can share one spot, I'm all for a promoted rookie taking the other spot, be it Nicholson or Evans. No room for an under performing player. He'll be back, he's a fantastic player when on song & I can't wait for him to hit form, but he shouldn't be back until then.

Not saying it won't happen but I'd say very unlikely, last week he played half a game of VFL reserves, 1 more week of VFL seniors is hardly going to have him anywhere near a fitness level required to play AFL.

It does look like Newton is ahead of Martin. I wouldn't play Morton, his disposal is poor and he simply isn't hard enough.

We have no recognised ruckman with Gawn and Campbell at least a week away from senior football we will have to be at our tackling best and both Evans and Nicholson are hard at it.

Evans is averaging over 20 disposals a game and Nicholson had 11 tackles on the weekend. I think one of them has to play with Campbell to take the other LTI spot when we are more than likely to be forced to rush him in.

I would even have MacDonald or Jetta ahead of Morton. Our pressure will be the key, drop off at any stage and we will lose.
