Changes for Perth

OUT: North, Doherty, Siddle, Clarke
IN: Smith, Hilfenhaus/George, (any two specialist batsmen - frankly, I don't actually care who any more)

I'm having a huge belly-aching laugh here at the people who are still including Siddle in their next Test XI.

FFS: how long does it take for someone to prove he is a total and utter dud and nowhere near Test standard as a pace bowler for some people to wake up to that fact? His length and line are consistently schizenhausen, and he barely ever even moves the ball a centimetre. He is also absolutely useless with the bat, and as slow and cumbersome as a wet week in the field. In 30+ years of watching Test cricket, I don't think I can ever remember seeing someone so out of his depth be given close to 20 Test caps.

That said, the selectors will still probably keep picking him. They absolutely love him - though God only knows why.

Yep agreed, Siddle is a large pile of faeces I must say.

I'd go further and also send Katich to pasture.

Watson
Hughes - Katich doesnt look fit
Khawaja
Hussey (VC)
Ponting (C)
Smith
Haddin
Okeefe
Johnson.
Harris
Hilfenhaus

I like the look of this side a little more than the one at the moment, even if it will never take to the park :D. Plenty of bowling options with openers Hilfenhaus and Harris the swing bowlers to take early wickets, these two specialise in this, something Bollinger isnt capable of, hence hes dropped. Early wickets will allow Johnson, Okeefe, Smith and Watson to do the rest. Batting - needs a shake up, North to go regardless, Pontings form is worrying Id move him to five to protect from the new ball. Hussey to four due to good form and smith comes in for North who will more than make up for the bowling and batting of North whilst adding some much needed enthusiasm and TALENT in the field to energise players like Ponting, Hussey ect. Overall this side has a drastically improved fielding unit, a greater chance of sustained success with batting and a much more potent attack which would work well together.
Johnson gets a reprieve as we need him to fire if we're to regain the ashes I think, take the risk. Hopefully he finds form between now and the third test.

I reckon the standard of the Sheffield Shield this season so far has been below average in comparision to previous years. Which could be one reason why the Australian selectors are struggling to not only pick a bowling attack that can take 20 wickets for a test match-whether it's in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney, but also a side that can win the Ashes as well. In retrospect Australia didn't plan for life after Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist and Justin Langer. The selectors just assumed that the team would keep winning, when in reality, the side would start to struggle from 2007 onwards. Ian Chappell got it right a few years ago, when he said once Warne & McGrath retired (as well as Gilchrist, Langer and Matthew Hayden), the team would find it much harder to win games and Test series now than in previous years.

johnson needs time and work. He has already said that he needs to get his head straight, I cannot understand how he is going to do that hanging round a very nervous team with no confidence. Plus getting him away from Cooley would be a start.

Very funny. Though in all honesty I see no reason why they would do any worse. Actually just so we can keep a leftie, bring in Ryan Duffield for Swan/Hilf. He's a complete left-field pick, but what the hell?

Yep, you've nailed it, couldn't have done better myself. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

However, I suspect they will recall Hauritz and Johnson and won't do anything positive at all. Gayness sadly. :(

Some wholesale changes being recommended. We know there'll be 1 or 2 max...

My 2c is that we need to bring in a future gun batsmen at 6, as we already have an all-rounder in Watson and playing an all-rounder at 6 leaves our batting too thin... IMO.

What i think we'll see:

1) Katich
2) Watson
3) Ponting
4) Clarke
5) Hussey
6) Khawaja
7) Haddin
8) Hauritz
9) Harris
10) Hilfenhaus
11) Bollinger

12) Siddle

IN: Khawaja, Hauritz, Hilfenhaus
OUT: North, Doherty, Siddle

Surely the biggest certainty in the history of the world is Doherty being dropped. I will be furious if he ever gets near the baggy green again. Not his fault, but is nowhere near test cricket standard.

North is not far behind. However if he bats well in the 2nd dig he's a chance to hold his place. They may also take 4 quicks into Perth and in that case retain North to bowl predominantly... however as i said i think our batting is too thin...

Can't wait until this series is over and we can see the likes of Khawaja, Hughes, Smith, S. Marsh, M. Marsh, Paine, Copeland etc stru their stuff...

Lots of kneejerk reactions here. I think we nee to calm down and just address the areas that are struggling.

All we need to change is our batting, bowling and fielding. Do that and we will be in a good shape.

People seriously want johnson back in for perth?

The bloke could barely land the ball on the pitch at the gabba but serving up a few drinks in adelaide has fixed that?

I guess cricket really is a curious game....

How about Brett Lee? Had a good game the other day picked up 3 wickets in an ODI game.

Id back him over any of our other fast bowlers at the moment.

Odd isn't it? He should have been dropped properly and set back to Shield cricket. Cooley has not sorted him out this year so he is hardly likely to sort him out in a couple of weeks.

Hauritz might be back but I think that will be the only change in the bowling unless Harris is destroyed by this level of work.

Not that i agree with him being there, but have any of these bowlers really shown they deserve a spot there more than him?

I can understand him coming back in because they think he could potentially take wickets where these ones cant.

Lets be honest, none of the pace attack have done well at all.

Bring in Shaun Marsh and David Warner and either Lee, Nannes or Tait, or bring them all all in! would be explosive

If north goes then clarke needs to as well, his form has been worse then North's in the last year.

He's looked the least threatening of all the quick's this summer.

he even admitted himself that he has a lot of work to do, pretty sure he meant actual bowling work in the nets in the shield games ect not tom cruise in cocktail work.
