These players must be considered for selection

Marsh - When he's fit he scores runs.
Khawaja - Great early form but needs to keep making runs.
Blizzard - averages nearly 60 in FC cricket and is making plenty of runs this year.
Robinson - Is opening for WA and making some handy scores.

Quiney - Made more scores over 50 this year than any one.
Copeland - Bowling well.
Smith - A better all round option than North.
O'Keefe - Seems to be able to bat and bowl quite well.
Oh god no! The pace at which he bats isn't suitable for even Test cricket. He scored 39 off 201 balls the other day at a strike rate of 19, that is just a guy wasting space.

If you're going for young cricketers, throw Chris Lynn and Ben Cutting into the mix.

I mean every other first class cricketer under the age of 26 has been mentioned in this thread.

If Xavier Doherty plays in Perth, I will not watch 1 ball of the whole match.

He gets spanked. Krezja was dropped for getting spanked and he managed 13 wickets in his 2 games.

We need to find a way to allow Watson to bowl more overs.

Hughes at Perth?
I thought he had a big technical problem with short pitched stuff?
Perth must be the wrong place for him to come in.

His strength is playing off his back foot and he absolutely dominated Steyn and Morkel.
The team should be
Watson
Hughes (Katich unfit)
Marsh
Ponting (He needs to drop down the order a bit)
Hussey
Smith (Best young batsmen in the country)
Haddin
O'Keefe
Harris
Siddle/Bollinger/Hilfenhaus
Copeland (give him a go FFS stats speak for themself)

Clarke is clearly not fit to bat

OUT: Katich (inj.), Clarke (inj.), Harris (inj.), North (shit), Doherty (fed to lions), Siddle (R.A.P).

IN: Hughes, Khawaja, Copeland, Smith, George, O'Keefe

Watson
Hughes
Ponting
Khawaja
Hussey
Haddin
Smith
O'Keefe
Bollinger
George
Copeland

I haven't seen Copeland before..

But f*ck his stats are impressive.

3rd most wickets in 2009/10 and he played 5 games.

Possibility for Perth?

What does he bowl? Can he swing it? What pace does he bowl at? Tall?

Lets see how Clarke goes this innings before we drop him, he may not get a bat even and will have 2 weeks to recover. He will only not play if he is injured. I'd be bringing Hauritz back in before O'Keefe gets a game IMO. Would love to see Copeland get a game but I wonder if he is on the selectors radar.

12th man. Whoever is the best fieldsman in WA cricket.

IMO
Siddle deserves to stay after his performance in the 1st Test.

Johnson shouldn't come in until he finds some form. Katich and Clarke look absolutely wrecked which will save north

I honestly can't see more than a couple of changes, though there is certainly a case to be made for many more.

North I think is a very strong chance to go. His batting form is just not good enough for a number six - he needs to be able to anchor an innings, and just can't do it. Losing his spin would be a substantial blow, considering the lack of other options, so a like-for-like - O'Keefe, Smith, White - would be logical.

Doherty will have to go. Hauritz I think would be a safe option from a limited field.

I'd certainly think a pace change should be considered, to keep them fresh after so much work if nothing else. Copeland or Cameron would be slightly daring choices, but justified. I heard Kerry O'Keefe talking up Swan - perhaps an option if there's likely to be swing around?

I honestly have no clue what pacemen to pick. I think Harris is the only certainty. Looking at the others vying for those two other spots:

- Siddle: Has been crap since the first innings at the Gabba. Hasn't even looked likely.

- Bollinger: Bowled really poor in this game. But do you chalk it up to the fact he's underdone and the overs will mean he's better in Perth? It could be more than that though, he struggled to reach 130kmph this match.

- Johnson: I don't think being dropped for one game will fix his problems.

- Hilfenhaus: Didn't look threatening at all at the Gabba.

Then the new comers:

- Copeland: Untried at Test level. I haven't seen him bowl much but from what I've read he sort of only bowls around 135. I don't think that's quick enough if the pitch doesn't offer assistence or he doesn't have Glenn McGrath levels of accuracy. If he gets wickets in the Shield game starting tomorrow he could be in.

- Peter George: Did nothing in the Australia A game. From what I saw in India, he needs to work out how to add a yard of pace to his bowling before he'll really be threatening.

I guess there's a couple of other left field options, like Swan or Cameron, but I really doubt the selectors will pick them.

Katich's injury looks nasty. Hard to see him playing in Perth, or possibly even the rest of the series. Achilles tendon injuries mend slowly.

North must be within a whisker of losing his spot, if it is not already gone.

Doherty was ok on debut, but has looked out of his depth this test. He will go, IMO.

If those three are the outs, then the slectors may go with:

Hughes
Watson (would rather he play down the order, but that will not happen).
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Hussey, D. (surely they would prefer his FC experience over a younger guy, given that the series is still there to be won)
Haddin
Hauritz
Harris
Siddle
Bollinger

Not convinced about Siddle at all, but his hatrick will buy him one more Test.
Not really convinced Bollinger is a better option than Hilf or Johnson either, but they will not bring those guys back after just one test out.
