oh and he mentioned the chance of Siddle out for Hilf but that seems very unlikely to me.
Considering Siddle is the bowler who looked respectable in Brisbane, I'd be shocked if Johnson or Hilf came back in for him.

On the other changes

Johnson for Bollinger - as bad as Johnson was in Brisbane, we need to get him back in which will help his confidence. To win a test you must take 20 wickets and Bollinger isn't good enough to take 5 in an innings.

Hauritz for Doherty - although Warne has called for Beer and O'Keefe is also in the wings I think he is the right choice. Took 5 for at the WACA only a couple of weeks ago and will help strengthen the tail which was incredibly long at Adelaide.

Hughes for Katich - as any reading my posts will know I don't think he is batting well enough at the moment, but saying that I conceed that the selectors are going to pick him as he is 10 year+ player for Australia. Hussey has proved a lot wrong so far, so hopefully Hughes can prove me wrong.

Smith/White for North - North is dead no matter what who replaces him is still up for grabs. White is playing against England and if can score a another century against them he will jump over Smith, fail with the bat this weekend and Smith will get the nod.

yours is entirely one-dimensional, are you?

no Troll.

The overhaul in cricket in Australia needs to start with the forced resignation of James Sutherland from CA..

He sets the platform..

There needs to be a re emphasis on Test Cricket and

A look at the Selection Policies and Team

(the Greg Chappell - "I don't have Foxtel" is a sad laugh. "I turned my phone off and went to the movies so I didn't know Mitch Johnson is dropped" - is a farce)

A re-look at the Centre of Excellence..

A re-look at the relationship between the State and National Boards..

in other words; a total overhaul of it.

I could see this happening 2 years ago.

Meanwhile James Sutherland, in his role as Nero; kept on fiddling while Rome burnt to the ground.

Forget this series and start playing cricketers who will be there in 4 years time, when we need them.

Starc
Cameron
Hughes
Watson
Smith
Keefe
Usman Khawaja
Marsh
Paine
Ferguson
George

They are the future of Australia..

Until they are played, we are just going to go around and around in circles.

It's hard to argue with people who simply refuse to acknowledge that haurtiz had a decent last 18 months...

35 with the ball and 35 with the bat, when he was selected out of nowhere everybody would have said that 35/35 over an 18 month period was better than you could expect from haurtiz but he got belted in India (just like murali and warne i should add) and suddenly he's the reason for all the failures, never mind our more credentialed quick's who have let the team down badly since the start of the 09 ashes lets blame the spinner because he's not shane warne.

Just ask yourself a simple question...if the Indian tour never happened would hauritz have started the ashes?

We all know the answer is yes which means he was dumped for being mauled in a place where every spinner for 20 years has been mauled.

Agreed.

The stupidity of going to India on a hit and run mission, only a few weeks before a home Ashes series is mind blowingly DUMB...

CA again...

The leaders have no idea.

How the hell is it possible to justify selecting Johnson?

It's extremely hard to fathom considering how bad he was in the first test.
But the chances of us winning the Ashes now are absolutely shot unless some miracle happens. Mitchell Johnson hitting top form, whilst a long shot, could be our only chance..

if he gets a run he better come out hard and firey. none of this shoulder slouching feeling sorry for himself timid rubbish. get out there and go for the throat. they should employ someone to get him angry before the game.

ferguson has just hit a nice ton against the mighty mighty blues btw:thumbsu:

hauritz still wicketless half way through the second, smith with 6 for the game so far

do people seriously think the selectors can make 4-5 changes to the team? i mean i have my ideas but i can only see the selectors making the following changes:

katich for hughes
Bollinger for Johnson
Doh for Hauritz
North for smith
Siddle for Hilf....

you reckon the selectors will gutsy enough to do even that?

I'd still prefer Smith ahead of Ferguson at number 6. I think Smith's bowling seems to be coming good at the right time, and he's shown he can bat.

We need wickets. And unless we've got a Copeland at the other end going for <2 runs an over (which I'd like, but the selectors won't pick him), Smith is too expensive to be the specialist spinner. But at number 6, he's perfect.

So Ferguson will be in the team? Awesome. He's not ****ing bog average and statistically behind numerous other batsman at all

He is as bad as every other middle order batsman though- between his hundreds he has 5 scores of under 20. That screams Marcus North MKII to me. I want Ferguson to play a season of FC cricket where he averages 50 before he gets a test spot!

They obviously see form as an important factor.

Wish Dussey would get a game.

Dussey just about 3 years to old to bother with now. We should be picking younger players, certainly nobody over 30.

I'm tempted to say nobody over 25.. but I doubt you could find 11 current shield cricketers matching that criteria. :o

I could live with that but I think we would struggle a bit too much to make it worthwhile.
