Preview Changes for Preliminary Final (who holds their spot?)

I agree with most on here, Johnson straight in if he is good to go, unfortunatley Tommy looks the most like to make way.

Would love to see Ibbo back in the team but only if he is 100% good to go, who makes way though? Neale and Sutcliffe have really earned their spot at the moment but those two would be the most likely I'd imagine to make way if Ross did take a punt on Ibbo.

I think just the one change at the moment would be about right.

RTB said on 6PR yesterday that Ibbo 'needs to get moving'... then started saying 'some good news on Garrick Ibbotson today..' then he was interrupted about something else.

Couldn't catch exactly what was said but sounded like Ibbotson might be fit for the game, just a matter of how well he can slide back in or if he should be risked under our current winning formula.

In my opinion he can add a great deal, his form is similar to McPharlin's in that he can come in and make an immediate impact. If he's played then he's at least got one game before the GF to readjust, and boy wouldn't it be great to have him fully ready for that.

Sheridan would make way for Johnno and Sutty would make way for Ibbo. Tbh those two have been great, but I don't think it's ridiculously damaging to our overall structure. We'll still have speed through the midfield in Neale, D. Pearce, Hill, Suban and Walters.

I'll give it a shot:

IN: Ibbotson, Johnson
OUT: Sheridan, Sutcliffe (both omitted)

B: Ibbotson, Dawson, Johnson

HB: Spurr, McPharlin, Duffield

C: D.Pearce, Fyfe, Mzungu

HF: Crowley, Pavlich, Mundy

F: Walters, Mayne, Ballantyne

R: Sandilands, Barlow, Suban

INT: De Boer, Clarke, Hill, Neale (Sub)

EMG: Sheridan, Sutcliffe, Silvagni

If I end up getting the teams right, damn it I deserve a prize! :p:D

Good luck in the Preliminary Final Fremantle! :thumbsu:

Duffield in danger of missing out in my mind, instead of Sutcliffe. Let's wait and see though. Duffield doesn't win many one on one contests in the air against opponents. Has gotten used to the runner off half-back role. Same role Sutcliffe played. One of those two to go out of the side if Ibbo comes back in.

I think if Ibbo is healthy and plays Sutcliffe in would make more sense than Lachie
Sutcliffe can cover Mid ,running back and pinch hit forward
Love Lachie and what he offers but just think that as a sub Cam is a little more rounded

The prize will be playing us in the GF ;)

Youre not serious,Duff is the designated kicker and can cover at a pinch on one of the talls
Would be a certainty to be in the side

Wha? Duff is miles ahead of sutcliffe in the selection order.

Or Sutcliffe misses, Neale stays in the 21, and Suban is sub. He has played this role well in the past. Depends on weather though - I'd have Suban in the 21 if it's a heavy track.

I actually agree with the Duffield on thin ice sentiment. Sutcliffe was superb in the half back role against Geelong. His game was certainly superior to Duffield. Sheridan when he came on was a non event. He'll be omitted for Johnson. I'm finding it hard to find the right person for sub but Sutcliffe seems most appropriate.

Ibbotson may have to fight past one of the aforementioned. At the moment he can't crack the team for mine. If we have an injury against Swans/Carlton he may find he's playing the GF. Otherwise it's a sad case of injury at te wrong time.

Is there a chance that half of our team having 2 out of 3 weeks off could hurt their momentum ? Or just make us fresher ? Interested what you all think !
I thought the same thing but with Ross staying in town this weekend I'm sure he is all over it. Additionally, the Hawks said they weren't really challenged against the Swans last week so they are worried about going to the next level. We SET the level for the final series so far. I'm quietly confident the boys won't take a step backwards

This is a much different situation to our mid-year bye lapse, which saw a lot of boys come back from their holidays down south a bit groggy and looking like they'd eaten things growing out of the fields of Balingup.

A prime example is resting the bulk of our guys last week; many came back fresher than ever. I guess it's just the stakes this time, I'd say our entire squad is unbelievably focused at the moment. There's no stepping off the pedals or trips away from home this time.

This looks like a very good side, but I do not see Neale as a good sub. Sutcliffe has been the spot his own during the year, and makes a real impact when he comes on.

If both Johnson and Ibbotson come back in, then there will be two really unlucky people who miss out.

I am so so nervous. I know we can
Do it, but the stakes will be ginormous for both Teams. We showed anything can happen in Finals. A GF appearance would mean so much to our long suffering supporters. I'm so nervous/excited, I just wish this game would hurry up already !!!!

Depends who we face in terms of the sub I guess. If we face the Swans you would have to go with Neale. Going hammer and tonk against Jack and co. all game is taxing and to bring on some fresh legs who goes in as hard as anyone would give the boys a lift.

Reckon Ibbo is fighting an uphill battle to get himself right. Achilles injuries are notoriously complicated/prolonged, even when minor.

Johnson for Sheridan seems the most likely change, which is shit luck for Sheridan. If Ibbotson is ready, then it's obviously between Neale and Sutcliffe. Of the two, Sutcliffe's excellent field kicking and endurance is more suited to the sub role, but it's hard to make a case to drop Neale after his last couple of months.

I don't envy the selection committee one bit.

Sadly it doesn't look like Ibbo will come up. He's really hobbling in all the footage I've seen. I think he'll go in for surgery over the off season.
