I wouldn't mind Rockliff going head to head with Ablett.
People seem very caught up on the idea that our defence was too tall this week. I’m not actually sure either way but we ran with a similarly tall backline most of last year.
Rockliff should play his own game I feel. Raines can sacrifice his own to stop another.

Playing head to head does not necessarily mean sacrificing your game. It just means being accountable for your opponent. If Rockliff is going to be our next captain he needs to do stuff like step up and take on a superstar like Ablett and do a good job for the team.

Would be very surprised if Golby was dropped. He was ordinary today but decent enough last week, and is almost as entrenched in the senior lineup as someone like Merrett now. I'd have thought it would take a lot more to see him dropped.

I feel if we are to drop Golby, there are two things we have to look at.
1. is his DE/marking etc that bad.
2. Is he doing his job (defending their small forward and stopping him get goals etc.)
Yes his DE is pretty bad but l feel his defence is pretty good, Anyone know who he was on?

Rich needs to play HF I think... he is more the capable at leading at the ball. Getting the ball in his hands within 60m of goal must be a blue print priority for this year and beyond

Rockliff was set to play on Stevie J so it might be his role is changing and a job on Gablett isn't out of the question
Unless it is a confidence issue, I wouldn't drop Golby. He is already a good defender with a good rebound ability, if we pump more games into him, he will become an all round quality player IMO.
I am looking forward to seeing how our midfield go this week, against a building but lesser team then what we have played so far.

I really think that we have played some great footy in the past two weeks and we should win this. Mayes and Taylor look great and should delliver for us in the future. We have a great future with these two. I hope we can keep these two.

jeez a lot of you rate golby pretty highly. I really dont see why. turns it over a lot, makes crucial defensive errors, drops marks, and didnt improve his game at all last year really. very ovrrrated on this board imo..

You can turn it around and see why people like him - fairly safe with the ball (73% disposal efficiency), locks down his player well, averaged almost 20 possessions last year (it was only a few years ago that we were struggling to get players with 20 disposals in our midfield, let alone off our back line). He didn't make as big a jump between 2012 and 2013, but they were still only his second and third years in the seniors.
Couple of shockers this week for Golbs, but he'll be back.
