YepAgree, our depth was what really suffered with the five that left for home.
I think that we are maybe a couple of years and 2 or 3 smart acquisitions away from consistently challenging and beating the top teams. I think that people forget that we haven't been an aging team for a couple of years now, and are in fact among the youngest, yet still compete well against the experienced and finals-hardened teams.
When Rocky, Zorko, Mayes, Aish, Lewy, Rich etc etc are all 26-27 you'll see a formidable engine room
I know I've missed players here but you get the drift.
Our forward line is the interesting piece to the puzzle.
Can see McStay and Gardiner being major contributors down back with Close and Freeman most likely 2 years away from impacting at a dominating force up forward. To me that's why 3-4 years is about right, not to mention Archie ( reckon he may be ok!!)
Ps my opinion is that my boy is around mid season ready to step up.
Probably play 6-7 games first year
He's getting better and better each hit out
Got his GPS figures yesterday from Leppa in the team meeting , covered 13.9klms with 6.5klms at 24klms per hour!!
Not bad!
His body's good and injury free so that's good.
