Changes for QB

Can we afford to not select him, in the monetary sense. We have an opportunity to make some extra money. It's still a game of footy, albeit a more intense game. But with limited game time I'd back Watts in to get through the game unscathed. No risk, no reward they say.

Our posters are saying he doesn't deserve the call up and are disappointed, but all the MFC reports are saying he's put himself on the selection table...I think everything points to his selection and I think we'll find out early/mid week.

Cheney has to get a gig. Poor kid is busting his guts to get a spot, and isn't doing much wrong to lose it when he finally gets in. Bell gave very little on Saturday night.

I don't necessarily want to drop Miller, for one thing the bloke runs and tries his guts outall day for the club, but he just isn't getting the reward.

Same with I'm not convinced of the Stefan Martin Forward Experiment. Probably a testament to Warnock holding down full back so well that he isn't being able to get a possie. I personally think he's wasted up forward, and if he isn't getting a job in defence, then shouldn't be in the 1's.

i think watts will be in this week guys... its time, big stage and a massive home game for us... plus its against the scum and with robbo to come in and play along side him could be a fantastic day... if they play him i think miller needs to stay in as well because the larger body and his physical presence is needed to protect watts, especially against the scum... get on us this week boys, pies back out of the eight...

shattered as hell thou if watts does get the call up because i have an exam at 2 on monday and will miss the game (seriously considering jinxing the exam...) but just hope we role them...

Shane Valenti – Shane was excellent. He was very good in the clearances and in the clinches. He continues to maintain a good standard in that area. He kicked a good goal and set a few up as well.

I would love to see Watts play, or Jurrah. But if their not ready etc etc yadda yadda yadda...

Bottom line, i just want to see someone new. We've seen heaps of Bennell, we've seen Maric, we've seen Grimes, lets put someone else that we havent seen in to freshen it up a bit. Im not saying any of the above get dropped, far from it, i would just like to see some fresh faces, or "Glimpses of the Future" as i like to call them.

Puckled, if Jurrah gets a game he could do anything, a real wild card as long as he's allowed to play his game abit. he's the livewire tall forward option. maybe even ahead of Robbo (as much as I hate to say it)

Who is going to be our Kane Corns this week? ie who will get the blanketing role on Leon Davis? - it has to be someone with a good tank but can also hurt him going the other way. Dane Swan is coming into some good form as well, we can't let him run riot either.

Killing it against a shit side in the VFL doesn't translate to a real game. Dunn and Cheney played much better games which would have been a lot more effective in the 1's.

Im not arguing Dunn and Cheneys game. Im highlighting that his own coach said he was "excellent." If German had of said he was "pretty good" or "OK" then I wouldnt have made the comment.

From what i can gather, Germans a pretty tough judge of character. He doesnt give too many pump ups and is pretty honest in his appraisals. So for him to say Valenti was excellent at VFL level, against a shit side, would translate to Shane being serviceable at AFL level, and worthy of a shot at a "real game."

I think dropping Bell after one week is harsh, I think he'll be gone at the end of the year but he should get a few games to show what he's got.

I agree but I also think we need Robbo and Bartram in as well. Robbo took 12 marks for Casey and thats what we are missing. Bartram needs to provide the tag on Davis. Id also like to throw Jurrah in there just to see some magic. Therefore my changes this week would be:

In - Cheney, Watts, Robbo, Bartram, Jurrah
Out - Miller, Bell, Bate, Maric and someone else

Maric is beginning to show us just how good he is and Bate started to build up some solid form after a shaky start.

Making 5 changes is too extreme, Bartram won't come in and I highly doubt they will pick Jurrah.

It's too hard to predict because there's quite a few pushing for selection and not enough spots but on the other hand I applaud you for trying because it is easy sitting back and criticizing.

Watts and LJ will not debut in the same week.

LJ will certainly not be debuting on QB weekend in front of +60K. The kid would have a conniption. His debut would be better suited to an intimate gathering of dedicated MFC and 3 Freo supporters.
