Sorry but I don't like the habit of bracketing "Atley and Drew" together.
Drew is a great prospect IF he can get fit and IF he's played on the ball and not pushed out to the wing or HFF. In particular, his ball use in traffic is as good as anyone on our list.
Atley is nothing like that and has a long way to go.
I think with a pre-finals bye and 7 day breaks, we settle the team down and try and get 3 full games into what we see as our best 22.
For me, that's getting Houston in, Farrell in and Ladhams next week. Going out should be Bonner, Sutcliffe and Westhoff. Arguable too whether Georgiades could come in for Ebert.

Right now we should be trying to get our best 22 settled for the run into the finals.
As such should only be looking at 1 or 2 changes each week as players either get over suspension and injuries.
Going to be some big calls regarding Hoff and Ebo I think. Part of me says that we should be looking at replacing them with the younger guys but I also think they may be assets in the finals.
Ebo as we all know will give 110%.
Hoff is still a victim of his laconic game style. He’s not in his best form but he’s also not as bad as some suggest. In my opinion his versatility will save him. Also don’t think Ladhams has enamoured himself to the coaches with his suspension.
Ken has proved over the last few years that we don’t rest players. I think we talk about it more here than the Club itself.

I wonder to what extent we factor in the risk of Ebo getting a head knock early in a final and leaving us one down for the rest of the game?
I know it can happen to anyone but some are more likely to end up concussed than others.

I think Ebert is still just ahead of Georgiades but if there is any risk whatsoever you can’t take it with Ebert.

Sidenote- Polec seems to be getting a lot of crap recently in general afl talk as he can't get into north team. As a former Port player, I feel for the guy. I still think he is a quality footballer who does the attacking side of the game very well. He's been dropped by the worst coach in the AFL because he isn't doing defensive things he's never done anyway. Was probably in their best 3 in the game he was dropped against Carlton. Thoughts?

I didn't blame him for leaving with the offer he got and the age it was always going to be difficult to say no.

The idea that North would be paying 25%? of his salary should we ask Polecat back holds plenty of appeal.

I would like Woodcock to be given a chance. If not I would prefer keeping Sutcliffe over Motlop who has been poor this season. In the last 4 games he's played, Motlop has had <10 disposals. Sutcliffe has only played 3 times this year against GWS, Richmond and Sydney and we've won all those games. Selections won't be too important this round though as North look despondent and terrible. They've lost 10 of their last 11 games with that 1 win coming over Adelaide.
