the question is are you risking him? if everything is right you get him in as soon as you can in order to find form and be gelling with the forward line as best as he possibly can be. If there is questions in regard to his injury then you leave him out. If he has ticked all the boxes then its just stupid to 'give him another week' just because
I am conservative with injuries of this nature because historically, there have been countless incidences of players coming back too early.

I am not casting any aspersions upon our medical and fitness staff whatsoever, we have them in those positions to give us the best possible advice but for me and given who we are playing and the advantage of having two weeks plus one week off before the finals campaign gets under way, I would have erred on the side of caution - that's just me but I see that the medicos & fitness specialists have given him the green light to resume and the coach has agreed and I have every faith in their judgement.

Go Robbie. Go Port.

Happy with that. Robbie back is excellent, Marshall dropped because they clearly think we'd lack for forward pressure if SPP goes out for Gray and Marshall is sadly the worst of our forwards now that we're getting players back.

Looking forward to a continuation of the last 2-3 weeks game plan of playing on and run from behind.
Really been noticeable that off many marks and free kicks our ability to give off to someone on the move.
I know plenty won’t want to hear it but Bonner has been a huge catalyst in this style of play together with Burton.
It is for that reason I don’t see the current backline 7 changing for the rest of the year other than for injury.
A key component to this style of play though is that the forwards provide pressure to lock the ball in and it is for this reason Marshall will be Sub.
If we master this style of play this week I can see a minimum 10 goal win.

Hmm I think we match up OK.View attachment 1197091
Their midfield core is ok. Smith, Seedsman, Sloane, Keays, Laird. That's a 'competitive' group. I'd take Seedsman in a heart beat in particular. However outside of that they fall off a cliff.

Out of their forward line Thilthorpe would be the only one we'd consider, and even then still behind Marshall and Georgiadies at this minute.

And really only Doedee from the backline. Their bench has nothing of interest.

There's never been a better time to grow that Showdown advantage and grab some percentage. Let's hope our boys are switched on and absolutely go for it.

It's undoubtable that since his return hes made a huge difference to our ball movement. He had a game in the SANFL where he did similar, but still made some massive blunders. They then took the punt on him regardless and so far he's been really good. Can he sustain this level though is the thing for him??

Bonner has many strengths that he brings to the team, but his weaknesses - esp when under pressure - are dreadful. He is probably the worst offender for wildly kicking out of defence (last week sideways OOF). And it stands out more when you see young Bergman in the same situation, act more maturely, thinking his way out and looking for better options.

I like the guy & wish him well, but geez he can be frustrating at times.

Bonner is the club whipping boy, every club has one, but it's always been a bit harsh because he does a lot of good things.

His defensive efforts remain an issue though, i don't think many players have issues with breaking through one of his limp armed tackles, and you don't want him caught out in a one on one marking contest deep in defence.

but hey no one is perfect in all areas of the game. you've got to take the good with the bad, and their is definitely enough good in Bonner for mine.

His first game of the year for us was like having a new player - he was excellent in comparison to the player he was last season where he was not up to AFL standard. He then gets injured, unfortunately, and when he gets back into the side, he's been somewhere between OK, good and terrible. I don't believe he is in our best 22.

He looks like more of an afl player the further he physically is from the defensive goal square.

I'm as big a Bonner critic as anyone, but if you can't see how good his last three weeks have been then you're not paying attention.

Don’t get carried away with Bonner. As soon as the heat is turned up even slightly, he will turn to water and kill us once again.
Pleased to see you have so much faith in our players. I really don't understand why supporters death ride our own players.

If he's not at full back, I think he'll be alright.
