Changes for R4 vs Sydney

Nicoski must be dropped he cant play defense! gives away to many free kicks. gives us nothing.

Which is exactly what Priddis does. He just bombs the ball or palms of a handball but at least he chases, tackles and gets the ball. So why should Rosa stay out of the team for the same reason Priddis keeps getting a game?

Priddis wins clearances, Rosa does not.

In a nutshell SA. :thumbsu:

I hope Rosa plays next week - we are gonna need runnner on that big ground in Sydney.

Hopefully Kennedy gets a game - I bet he is itching to go and have a big one!

Rosa is soft as butter.

Weak perfomances in his WAFL outings have shown that.

Kid needs to grow a set, and kick it better.

Big Man,

I think you need to read my last post to see what I actually meant by comparing Rosa and Priddis.

Let me make this clear - I am not Rosa's biggest fan, I do like him though, but above all I love the eagles and that is what is important - not a single player. However, I think Matty Rosa and Staker, to name two, get some pretty tough wraps on this board and feel like I have to say something before it gets to the stage where we have 3 or 4 players who are under "RoJo criticism". So here goes...IMO Rosa is not as soft as butter, he throws his body in when he needs to (i.e. without being reckless), he presents, chases, tackles, he can kick a goal, he can run, he provides the pivotal link on the wing - something I think we are lacking at the moment.

From what we've seen of him so far he is an outside mid - not an in and under player like Kerr, and he can't make a clearance like Priddis and he is certainly not a superstar like Juddy and Cuz, but we need something back in this team and whilst a few of the senior guys have decided not to be interested so far this year then I reckon someone like rosa deserves another chance.

There are plenty of people waiting in the wings who are capable of coming into the side and making an effort whilst those others aren't - Rosa is one of them, he had a pretty good 2007 and has only had one chance in 2008. He was obviously dropped for a reason but if Hansen, Embley, Fletcher, Nicoski etc keep getting chances why can't he have a second chance?

If we have debut after debut without giving 'experienced' fringe players another go, soon enough people will think we're doing a Carlton and have given up.

You know what? I think it's time for Lynch to have a break. 4 goals in 3 games, wheras McKinley kicked 3 today. I love Lynchy but I don't think he's doing his job. Try Kennedy.

But as we know the Eagles are conservative with making changes. Sigh.

Lynch has been our best forward so far

FAR more mobile than Cox/Seaby/Hansen (who are about as mobile in the forward line as a tree swaying in the breeze)

give it a year and:

Lynch + Kennedy: Talls

McKinley + LeCras: medium

Defensive Crumber + Creative defensive Crumber:Smalls

do that and I think we have a decent (competitive) forward line

People who say Hansen Fletcher Lynch or Embely will be dropped have absolutely no idea what so ever.

I don;t think we need to re furnish the whole team.. I t just think the WHOLE team needs an absolute spray like they've never recieved.

We were so soft in patches today it was embarassing, we played for parts of quarters but we couldn't capitalise.

Our midefield needs to hit up some targets.... Our back flank needs to create some run... Brett Jones can't run the back half by himself while minding Pav, FFS boys use yout F***ing brain.... Honestly it is so frustraing often we turn it over between half back and half forward.

Out- Hansen, Fletcher, Ebert
In - Kennedy, McNamara, best performed of Masten/Rosa

Its not just a case of play the kids, I have very little doubt that McNamara and Kennedy would instantly have similar or better output than Hansen and Fletcher right now.

Hmmmm..
Fletcher and Hansen will be fine.

Yer i wont be dropping Ebert. he had little game time saving him up for Sydney.:thumbsu:;)

Rosa isnt nicknamed "Petal" because he is tough.

Ordinary fringe player at best. Does possess a booming kick at goal but i struggle to see anything else remotely positive about this guy.

One change required to take on Syd barring injury to Hunter

OUT: Embley

IN: Masten or Jmac

Ember was nowhere to be seen today, not good enough to hold his spot. Has been unsighted most of the season, not damaging enough for a senior player.

If Jmac has shown somw defenced in his WAFL outing this week he called be recalled. Otherwise give Masten another go.

Hansen and Fletcher werent as terrible as some are making out, just convenient scapegoats imo.

Kerr should be fine in regards to the Palmer incident.

To me it doesn't look like Embley trusts his body to hold up. He used to be quite a physical player in the way he laid shephards, tackled etc. But after a couple of years of injuries it's like he doesn't want to do that anymore for fear of being injured again, if that isn't the case he has become just plain lazy.

Out:

Hansen - no need for a CHF in Sydney, not an out of form one anyway
Fletcher - how he can't kick on his right side and has zero defensive pressure or pace is embarassing
Nicoski - is really struggling with the new rule changes, needs to build confidence in the WAFL

In:

Kennedy
J Macnamarra
Spanger / Schofield - need someone to take O'Keefe as Bones will get O'Louchlin

THe game is at ANZ Stadium (formerly Telstra Stadium) probably one of the biggest grounds for AFL - close to Subi dimensions.

We will need a leadng centre half forward - Hansen will play no doubt!

so fletch cops it because of a kick were he shouldnt of even recieved it from kerr, but when kerr gives away the first goal of the game it is all ok?

I agree with you to some extent, Kerrs disposals put everyone under the pump, he is one of the worst offenders of the "lets handball it to a stationary player with an opponent breathing down his neck" brigade. AFAIAC he has not played a decent game yet this year.

Kerr seems to be holding back a bit, obviously worried about his hamstring going again. It may actually run a bit deeper than that though, its like he thinks he has to preserve himself for the good of the team, however if he isn't playing with 100% committment, what is the point?

Comparing him to Fletcher though is a bit rough. At least Kerr is still trying to some point, Fletcher is just plain lazy. He doesn't run into a contest, doesn't run at all in fact. Sort of prances around on the outskirts waiting for a cheap possession. Oh and if he actually laid a tackle, that would be cool.
