Wasn't there talk earlier in the year about Lenny Hayes possibly getting an assistant job here under Lyon, starting next year?
If Kirk is off, I'd like to see Lenny coming over

Hope we keep Kirk & would have been great to get Lenny over too but he's signed on at GWS as an assistant coach

Could Bootsma take over Dawson's spot? We lose out on height but make up for that with better disposal skills.

Bootsma is 6'3 which is taller than Ibbo who something has to take the resting ruck.
I like him as 3rd tall. I don't mind playing Dawson, Johnson and Bootsma for 1 year and then replace Dawson with Hooker as free agent.

Apeness looks like he could be a bust .4 months in a knee brace doesn't say a lot about playing key forward.

It is clearly a major injury if, as someone reported, he does not think he will be back on the track until January. This puts any chance of him playing an early AFL game off the agenda.

If he's had a PCL reconstruction as reported, hes cooked IMO. Hard enough an established player coming back from a new PCL, let alone a kid who has already had an ACL and PCL before kicking an AFL goal.

Sigh.

I know that everyone has addressed our kicking but the other aspect that we lack is marking, now don't get me wrong i have been against Deboer all year but Deboer is one of the most reliable marks that we have when moving forward everyone else drops the mark under an inkling of pressure but Deboer over the past 5-6 weeks has taken these marks and propelled us into attack (or at least not let the rebound that kills us happen).
I feel he has really stepped up and whilst we should be able to improve with someone other then him he has shown that he is capable and great depth to have whilst blakely etc grow

Reasoned well, but any FFC team with DeBoer in @ R1 next year has just not moved forward.

DeBoer has always had extremely good hands. He's also a very very hard runner with a massive tank and is tough as nails. His issue is his kicking which is just average at best.

Interesting times for him and Mzungu too. Players that were on the edge and I would have said 6 months ago will likely be moved on, but they've both finished the season quite strongly. MDB especially, he had a pretty good finals campaign all considered.

Wouldn't be surprised MDB is offered another year, but he took a significant pay cut last year to stay on our list. I wonder if he'll do it again or try to get to a club that might offer him a couple of years.

I have been thinking about this over the last few days, but the biggest change I would like to see in round 1 next year would be a new game plan. Signs that we are actually trying something new, something different. This may be over simplifying things a bit, but its time for change. Been so close with Lyon's defense focused mantra, but now its time for a rethink on how Fremantle as a club play games.

Really not sure about Smith and Ballard and we need to move on from De Boer. I also think Pav should retire.

The team I listed would change a lot say if Pavlich isn't there or we don't get all three of the WA boys. That's why I said if only. As for Smith, I would be confused and disappointed if he doesn't get a crack and play from the get go. There's no way RTB is that in love with Dawson to keep him next year. I love Silvagni but his record for injuries may as well make a structure without him. I'd probably put Crozier in over MDB but he honestly hasn't been that bad. He's just not an impact sub which is why his year has been average, if he starts he plays and does his role.

Smith is a genuine KPD.

We need them and Zac's time is up.

Smith and Pearce should be first up with Silvagni and Dawson in the wings. We're not winning next year. We can build for the year after etc

On 6PR today, Langdon said S. Lloyd is off to Geelng, Kirk is going back to Sydney and our fitness guy is leaving too.

Would like us to get Mason Shaw on the cheap from Power, he's 197cm, put on 20kgs in the offseason and is a Freo boy.

Lloyd is a bit of a loss. Our fitness guy can piss the hell off though. Our players couldn't run out games this year.

If you want a better decision maker than Zac D ,Smith is not it.He is like a rabbit in the headlights with ball in hand. He has been 3 years on the list.If it was anyone else he would be a list clogger. Pearce jumped him in the pecking order after a season FFS.If he was any good he would have got the nod when Luke,Zac and Johnno missed games.

From memory Bootsma was pretty average at Carlton in the games I saw. Alex P for Mayne - Mayne for Dawson - Dawson out he's 30 next year and got 10 kicks this year

I'm no squad manager and may have this completely wrong but this is my point of view.
I think Pav's finished, obviously as per McPharlin. The dream is to land both Bennell and McCarthy which will improve our squad dramatically. Get some game time into Weller. With injuries I'd bring in Blakely, who needs to put on some girth, ultimately the Mundy replacement in a couple years, and Langdon. Gu should be gone, deBoer proved himself at the end of the season but as good as he was in the middle, we require quality disposal and decision making and Matt needs to be replaced with someone of higher caliber to provide that, ditto Suban. Clancee in the same boat as deBoer and Suban, fringe player who unless improves to early 2015 form and stays that way he stays out of the squad. I think Crozier has it in him, we were playing our best footy when he was in form and kicking goals, especially in 2014. Croz should replace Mayne because, as much as I love Mayne, is not bloody good enough. Crozier didn't help his case this year but as I've stated many times before he has potential, but potential doesn't mean squat unless you put the effort and hard work in.
