Waterman and Ah Chee out for Jones and Yeo, ideally.

Brander had a crack but was damn frustrating yesterday. He was getting caught in the tackle time and time again. Either too slow to get it away or trying to take on tackles which he just isn't strong enough to break. A couple of brainfarts thrown in for good measure. He stays in for mine but another sub-par performance and I'd think real hard about giving an opportunity to a young mid.

In desperate need of some more run and mids:

FB: Hurn, Barrass, Cole
HB: Sheppard, Edwards, Rotham
C: Brander, Sheed, Gaff
HF: Petrucelle, Darling, Cripps
FF: Ryan, Kennedy, Allen
Foll: Naitanui, Kelly, Redden

I/C: Jones, Witherden, Hutchings, O'Neill/ Ainsworth
Sub: Ah Chee

In: Hutchings, O'Neill/ Ainsworth, Witherden (if fit - otherwise keep Nelson in), JJones
Out: Waterman, Williams, Ah Chee, Nelson

Not sure if Hutchings is ready or not, but we are in desperate need of support in the midfield and his 28 touches yestday is a good sign considering the poor showing overall. It's time to get the balance right, I don't like Allen in the ruck but believe this is the best option at the moment.
Yeah lets “carlton” allen for a season thats already half shot

We are kings of sucking in a wet game. They keep trying to play a kick mark game, and our clearaces (outside centre bounces) and general loose ball get are poor. So wet games really suck for us.
So it'll come down to who sucks less in the rain. Interesting.

Not his best game but went in hard unlike some to influence the contest but lacked support

Just excited to see my favourite players Laverde, Snelling and Langford.
Ah, fridgey, I think youll enjoy how well Laverde and Snelling play in the wet. They're a couple of the few that play better in it than dry for us.

And let's not forget 2MP as well :)

Wont matter. We'll "come out breathing fire" after Simmo "gives the playing group a spray" and win by 30 points.
Then get rolled by Carlton the week after and limp into the bye in 8th.
I don't think Simmo does the spray too often; more the continual learning curve that never seems to arrive anywhere?
"Got to learn from it and grow and get better but we’re not going to completely dismiss this as a disaster, we think we can still take some positives from it...."
Has said the same after every loss..what else can a coach say?...
Begs the question when do they learn, when do they grow, when do they change and get better?
He seems so chilled about everything.
Am beginning to feel a sense of the inevitable...
In: Jones and Withers if available..

Good point.

Let's face it, we're not going to finish top four. We lost to St. Kilda when we should never have. We got belted by Geelong and the bulk of the team played poorly and simply gave up. Yesterday has again confirmed we're average, a mid-tier team 6th-12th at best.

I'd imagine Simmo gave a few rockets after the game. But in the boys' defence, we go in too tall. Have been for weeks. We've been getting away with it for most weeks, but we lack balance. Time to drop Brander and Waterman on balance.

You’re correct in summary of Branders game.

Probably had more attention put into him last game.

I feel we're one mid too short, and one tall too big.

If Mcgovern is good, he comes in for Edwards (unlucky for him, played a solid game for a very young inexperienced player).
XON for Ah Chee to fix the Cripps/Ah Chee mid rotation
JJ for Waterman (unlucky, but is the weakest of the big talls).

Witherden / Foley for Nelson

Waterman for Jones, he has to play we need that small forward applying pressure

I think we missed Witherdens disposal - we were unable to transition out of defence.
I am interested in him playing more of a defensive wing role to leverage his strengths. The pace of the game got to Brander but he is well worth persevering with.
Gaff was a contributor and our cleanest mid under pressure. He puts is body on the line but matched on their acting captain Ward (BOG) he was outclassed. Perhaps Gaff into the square more.
Waterman isnt up to AFL level - he works hard but so do I.
