Reckon Yeo might spend more time forward than we think. Allen back means the forward line won't be too tall

Does Allen play back? I reckon they might let Rotham/Shep handle Wright when he's not rucking.

I have been hard on Waterman and sorry he misses game against his brother but we are now much better balanced side,
and he was horrible last week.

Don't mind Brander playing half back flank its a area we need some run from, so if he can provide run and carry and
keep using his good foot skills that would be a bonus.

Would love Jones to come in and play, maybe Nelson gets a one week injury early on and Jones can come on and provide those
clean ground ball gets he is so good at.

Being Doug Nicholls round would be nice if all our indigenous boys selected get game time, this is normally my favourite round of the year

A little worried second game back Hurn and Ryan being sore, but they where both so bad last week shouldn't be too sore

Hopefully Yeo gets through unscaved and pulls up after game with no groin soreness

The guys selected are all playing. The sub comes from the emergency list.

Excited to see Yeo’s name back in the In’s, thought we would give him another week in the WAFL. Not expecting the world just yet, but I don’t think it can be underestimated how much we have missed him. Even half fit, he adds a bit of mongrel we just lack.

Jones I don’t think deserved to be dropped, either, so happy he is back in the side.

3 talls in the wet may not be ideal but I feel the balance is slightly better this week.

Pretty shocked we've actually dropped Waterman, thought Ah Chee would go out before him.
Would be pretty gutted about not being able to play against his older brother this weekend.
I feel like he will be the medical sub so he still might

Even Yeo said he expects another week in the 2's, they had agreed on 2 weeks in the Wafl, so surprised to see him included? But he's raring to go...!
Team looks much better than last week, just need Duggan back...remember him?
People forget duggo is one of our fittest players and covers a lot of ground . Miss him badly

Waterman and Rotham are not talls. One a forward one a defencer so their selection is not relevant to the midfield were we are weakest. Waterman to me isnt a AFL level regardless.
Brander is a young mid who shows enoung to be persevered with.
Edwards is tall and is not ready for AFL but has to play because we dont have Fatty. We need the height to combat the 200sm ish forwards our short opponents seem to have.

Given that I cannot see how a bunch of players that cannot perform unde rWAFL level pressure should be given a go over players who are doing ok at AFL level in relevant positions.

Waterman and Rotham are not smalls or medium nor midfielders either.

190ish and 193cm.

Rotham has been decent, Snake needs to get a bit more match fit and get played as a lead up 3rd tall.

Jones for Waterman is a no brainer in the wet. Sorry its against your bro but team first.

Yes, article by Paul Haselby outlining his struggles with OP. He talks of how much it incapacitated him and that it took him two years to get over it. Main point - don’t expect too much from Yeo too soon - the condition is very debilitating. Hence, don’t expect Yeo to be our ‘saviour’ this year.

I think it was less OP with Hasleby and more getting his tackle caught in his shorts that caused the discomfort in his groin region.

Allen sh*t canned again to plug a gap. A likely 50 goal a year forward if left there, what a shame! Yeo rushed back, Hurn and Ryan underdone and a couple of blokes being gifted games because we have no alternatives. What a cluster.

2 things:

First: How's the young'un going?

B: Allen was drafted as a utility. Certain if either of Kennedy or Darling were out he'd be up forward but has been pushed back for our needs because he's quality wherever he plays. Ie: Shit-canned is a bit of a misnomer in this regard.

Beautiful has had a few complications and some follow up surgery, but she's a fighter and has had a really good week. Out of ICU. Less pain. Up and mobile. Good spirits.

Agree with the term "shit-canned" being a bit rich when applied to Allen. We/wCE are all being a bit robbed? If we didn't have to use him to plug gaps in defence or the ruck, ideally he would be a third elite tall forward and good luck stopping that. Just a shame we are so decimated by injuries that we see so little of the three great ones working in consort.

Waterman yes but Rotham has more pace than Nelson, Cole, Witho, Hurn and moves a shit better than they do. In fact his defending of tall forwards has been the worst aspect of his short AFL career.

I'd genuinly love to see Rotham used as a natural half back flanker, reckon he's thrive play a more attacking role.

Perhaps the penny has dropped after all.

If Allen plays the majority of the game in defence whilst Naitanui is on the ground, then this becomes a very balanced squad.

Brander finally named in the backline, it will be interesting to see if that holds true during the match - I have long believed that a rebounding role from defence is the position he would be best suited towards, so I will be keeping an eye on in regard to this.

If both Allen and Brander are being used as defenders, then it frees up Nelson to go as a run-with player through the midfield - most likely to Parish (who since Round 3 has been averaging 33 disposals, 8 clearances and 8 score involvements per game).

When Parish has had 30+ disposals this year, Essendon are 4-1; with the lone loss being by 2 points to GWS away.
Conversely, when Parish has failed to get 30 disposals this year, Essendon are 0-5.

Shut Parish down and the midfield battle should fall our way, allowing the forwards opportunity to be decisive in determining the result. With a healthier array of ground level players, the team's forward half stoppage game will also be far more imposing, which will translate territory dominance into scoreboard impact.

If the weather does not intervene too significantly I would not be surprised if this ends up being the club's best four quarter performance of the season thus far.

Who is to say that Yeo hasnt already been held back a few weeks? Maybe he was right a few weeks ago for wafl run. Ryan and Hurn were prob rushed back to get experience back in team but this week all 3 have a game under their belt so should all be that much better for it.
Think Ah Choo Will go ok as well this week staying more fwd than mid.
