I wouldn't mind Thornton coming into the side - his long accurate kicking would only help shore up our rebound capacity. He could allow Mundy to be moved onto the wing for longer periods which (If he can get into space and actually get the ball) should allow us to get better disposal into the HF/FF region.

Maybe Des needs something to play for again? He seemed to bring out his best against Melbourne after the Selwood incident. Is not winning games for Fremantle enough for Des to continue that form. 1 game out of 8 has been good.

Having said that, who would replace him? No one in the WAFL has the form to replace him. Except maybe Foster but he needs to be elevated.

I think Crowley is one of our major problems this year. Along with Mundy and to a lesser extent Johnson. The output from those 3 alone this year is a long long way off what we were getting from them last year.

I wouldn't mind seeing Scotty Thornton get a game in place of Mundy if he is fit enough.

spot on with crowls and mundy.IMO one of the problems is that one week certain players in the midfield go well eg.headland, macca, walker then the following week its jcarr,Mcarr, hayden but not all in the same week.Mcarr started on the bench and perhaps that was his last warning before being dropped.Out:duffield, mundy
In:hase,thorton

Mundy and Headland out
Hasleby and Collard in
Headland's form has been better than Mundy's so if Josh gets rubbed out Des gets one last chance, along with Matt Carr. Showers forecast Friday, Dessie never gets a kick in the rain anyway.

Long range forecast is for showers increasing Friday night.

So if it's horses for courses assuming Josh is gorn....

Out.
J. Carr. suspended
Omit Duffield .

In Cook, Hasleby.

If Josh plays omit Warnock.
Warnock might yet be replaced by Gilmore.

Oppositions seem to rate Dessie highly enough.
Mark Thompson said that Max Rooke was bought into the Geelong side this week with a specific aim of stopping Des Headland.

"We thought Des Headland was a pretty dangerous player for them, and we brought Max back in to do a job on him," he said.

Hang on - what has Cook in the WAFL done to win a place back in the side over Duffield?

Exactly. Don't tell our fans though.

Connolly said it well on 6pr when he said last week Geelong's half backs zoned off in front of Lynch and co and attacked through the corridor extremely well, which they did, so they played Des at HF so he drew attention from opponents and couldn't zone off in front of Tarrant and Pav.

Geelong got a less goals than the week before like that and Des had to sacrifice his game to some extent.

Who cares about the forecast, let's develop a good midfield rather than reverting back to the old crap one.

What are you suggesting Kenny, IMO Collard deserves a game ahead of Foster and they won't play them both. Unfortunately we may see neither of them this week, a loss on Friday night will make it very hard for Connolly to keep his job beyond this season so he'll probably go with the tried and tested players in Hasleby + Cook/Gilmore rather than roll the dice with Foster and Collard. Credit to Connolly for having the courage if he does choose both of the young fellas.

I would have agreed before Josh Carr got suspended. If he fails to get off we are down 1 midfielder possibly 2 if hase fails to come up this week. Foster would need to come in to replace one of them especially if we lose both.

Remember the saints are down to 24 - 25 players to choose from this week. Riewoldt went off for scans too.

Foster won't get a game because CC will rely on the same old players to play another ordinary game. CC doesn't think the season is gone yet and so he will not throw caution to the wind and give these younger players a game.
It's a shame that good form is bot being rewarded at the moment as one of these young blokes should be given a game. The experienced players have always been baked by CC and I don't see that changing now.

Gee Dominguez - Mundy out, a tough one. IMO a class act and do not think he has been that bad. Agree Headland out and keep him out. For me Walker out and Hasleby and Collard in.

Mundy's body language has been shocking. He might find some urgency oif he spends a fortnight with Parker at Subi.

Definately, but IMO Mundy is the worst. He is also the youngest, so if we nip it in the bud we can sort him out.

Headland is a passenger. One of CC favourites who always gets a game. As a senior player, no idea on how to lead by example and do the hard thing. Most leave it to Bellie to try on his own.

Cook didnt lose his spot on poor form. He just happens to be a horses for courses player.
Duff will no doubt one day be a walk up start and therefore is a still a work in progress imo. If the forecast is correct we will need someone like Cook and Duff is the only option. If I'm wrong then OK. If we give Duff another run win lose or draw he (duff) should be in the side for the rest of the season.
I'm a Duff fan. But if is raining big time then Cook is a proven on the ground player.

Dugrene - I am a Duff fan too. Needs game time to develop.

But it is not how CC manages a team. Regular non performers get first choice and the likes of Duff and Murphy are dropped for no real reason. Should stick with some of our young blokes.

How is Headland a passenger?

He,
a) attracts the best or 2nd best tagger week in, week out. Against Hawthorn, was tagged by Sewell (close to best tagger in AFL) and got us back into the game. He was tagged by Rooke last week and played at HF so Geelong's HB didn't zone off and get in Pavlich/Tarrant's space. If someone else had been playing there, wouldn't be tagged/ playing closely and would be directed to float in front of Pav/Taz.

b) has some of the best foot skills in our side

and,

c) been one of our best players in the previous month.

????

If Headland was dropped, the opposition coach would send CC a basket of homemade cookies, and an early christmas card. Headland is easily one of our most dangerous players.
