Keep Mayne he was decent last night kicked 1 more goal and it would have been considered a good game.

I feel after last night he might surprise us this year.

Goldsack has escaped scrutiny - apart from his long bong from 55, I thought he was garbage. Barely saw him all night but when he was there, he just didn't win the contests. Dunn is a far better option, and I think that switch needs to happen on Wednesday

I don't think he will surprise anyone, but that's not a bad thing.

If he averages 1-2 goals a game (25-35 goals) and tackles like he did last night, I'd be quite happy for him to play 15-18 games this season.

Has to play next week, can't drop one of the few forwards who actually did their job on the night.

Varcoe likely to get suspended it seems, so;

In: Aish
Out: Varcoe

Out: Blair, Varcoe (Suspended), Goldsack
In: Aish, Dunn, Broomhead

Aish for composure and kicking skills.

Dunn to release Reid into a free / setup role. Goldsack offers next to nothing.

Broomhead for pace and kicking skills.

If Elliott is fit then he comes in, probably instead of Broomhead.

The experiment is over.

In: Someone else
Out: Cox

You do realise that Cox's stats were on par with Tom Boyd's last night. You know, that million dollar man. More disposals, same marks, and slightly less hit outs.

At this point he has performed better than Moore over the preseason and Rd1. If we are going to drop any tall he is the one that deserves it most at either end of the ground.

That's rubbish. He's a 20 yo with a tank that can accumulate at AFL level. Just needs to tidy up his disposal.
Can he defend? No. Can he kick? No. Can he hurt a team going forward? No. Does he have some sort of X-Factor? No. Is he good under pressure? No. Is he quick? No. Can he win his own ball? No.

I always recall chatting with a bloke who worked at the Saints in their data analytics department, he said that in the inner football world, its a myth that having a huge tank and running 20kms a game makes you a good footballer. They rate players who can run 5kms for 15 disposals over players who run 15 for 20.

I could care less how much he gets and how far he runs if he does nothing with it

Well if you say that he can't do any of those things after SEVEN games then it must be true. FMD.

Cannot believe the Blair play no more thread was closed with the words 'way too early to be talking about ..'. Way too early why? We know he's shit and we know he is always going to be shit. What is premature about declaring now that he should be dismissed from the seniors never to play again? Are we going to be referring to him in eulogies in 6 weeks time, forever thankful we kept him in the side and closing threads demanding him gone. I doubt it!

If Varcoe is suspended then i want Broomhead to play. We need a skillful ball user with some pace. Hoping Broomy had a good VFL game.

I also think Blairs daysbare very numbered. He played because we were short of midfielders. Aish comes back so takes his spot.

Would like to see Elliott return but i get the feeling they will go conservstive with him.

Having said that, he had a full pre season and has trained well this week. As a small forward, i dont see why the risk wouldnt be taken.

Bucks mentioned we rotated a tall off the bench. Realistically you dont want to waste midfield rotations, so we may be better to just go smaller. Although, Cox did give us some ruck ascendancy. But i reckon Grundy prefers being a 90 % ruckman.

Explains a bit.

Broomhead didn't play in the VFL game, but I hope he's an AFL inclusion next week along with Aish. Both will develop quicker in the seniors.

I am taking the conservative approach!
Aish in probably in at the expense of Mayne due to the fact he doesn't rotate through the centre.

Dropping Mayne is a difficult one because he played alright last night, was one of the few that showed composure with the ball.

Blair gets another gig because he can play through the centre. His decision making and skills last night were poor so I expect him to bounce back this week.

I don't understand why we played Cox last week, I've already posted that another quick forward who can rotate through the centre was my preferred option. I would have played Broomhead.

This week I have Cox in just to make Rance accountable. Cox, Moore and White combo really troubled Richmond in the JLT.

Need more midfield class so only one change Aish in and Mayne out.

I think Varcoe will play!
Excuse me from jumping in, Cox, White and Moore would prove a challenge for the Tigers defence due to size as Richmond only have two tall backs in Rance and Astbury.

Both Richmond and Collingwood got exposed similarly when the ball suddenly went back the other way, both weren't sound defensively. Big difference though between defending the reigning premiere and defending against the Blues though. Carlton destroyed their own good chances whereas the Dogs punished on the opposition on theirs.

I thought the Pies looked very good last night. Highly competitive, the midfield was strong. If they bring that next Thursday I think the Richmond defense will get overwhelmed as it's not a great backline.

Let's see which of these two underperforming teams comes out on top. The Tigers certainly played a significantly better brand of footy offensively a couple of nights ago than at any time last year. The Pies too look up and about.

Out: Blair, Mayne, Goldsack
In: Broomhead, Aish, Dunn

Blair really just needs to go. Adds absolutely nothing. If this game doesn't justify dropping him then unfortunately we'll just be stuck with him all season again. Basically playing 1 man down.

I don't really understand the hate on Cox's game though. It wasn't a KPF game at all. No KPF had an impact. I felt like he actually competed quite well up forward and had some deft taps and touches. He had much better game than Million dollar grand final hero Boyd.
Cox should be pardoned in my view. Gives ruck options and very very tall.
The opposite in height well just No!

Out: Blair, Goldsack, Varcoe (susp)

In: Elliott, Dunn, Aish.

Clean up our kicking and we will pulverize the Tigers. Only reason we lost last night was our kicking at goal (and the dogs seemingly magical inability to miss).

Anyone else dislike it when fellow supporters get into the lynch-squad mentality over one of our own players? Blair really frustrated me last night, and criticising performance is important, but all the over-the-top personal abuse of one of our own disappoints me.

Moore is a 20 year old footballer with a huge upside. Cox is a wanna-be footballer, who can't mark, can't chase, and is a liability when Collingwood don't have the ball. Last night when Cox was in the ruck he was the best tap ruckman (against the poorest ruck combo in the comp) but what else did he do? In modern day football, where attacks begin deep in defence, you can't carry a 210 cm lumbering forward with no defensive attributes, especially when our future key forward is also struggling.

So what do Collingwood do? Drop a project player or drop a future star and potentially the best key position player on our list?

I would like to see how we defend with a leader like Dunn in the side, but i liked Schades game so for me

Out: Goldsack, Cox, Varcoe
In: Aish, Dunn, Elliot

It allows us to play Reid as a swingman, stuff this settling in thing, if its not working up forward, move Reid down there. Otherwise, we play small and hope Mayne and White can bring the ball to ground.
