Lonergan gets a rest at Bendigo a few times through the year and is almost 26 now, he is still more inconsistent than Melksham.

I've said many times in other threads that if we're serious Lonergan has to go for the exact reason you said, but if he is still in the squad and getting selected on a semi-regular basis, these are the conditions to select him.
I've tried to be patient with Melksham, you would be lucky to find a post by me bagging him all season, but enough is enough. I predict he will do 1 or 2 good things in the first 5 minutes, I will then think "this is what we've been waiting for", then he'll be unsighted for the remaining 95 minutes. But hey, he's got 2 legs that haven't broken down all season so he probably gets a game on the back of that.
You're not wrong there, Melk has been consistently crap all year.
As weird as this sounds I hope so, I really want to see him running around for us next year.Reimers hasn't even been name for Bendigo. Maybe he's injured?
This year will be good for Melksham, despite not being a good year for Melksham.
That's some inception shit right there, but it's true.
Good points, but last year most of us said that 2012 would be a break out year for Melk, and, frankly, he hasn't delivered at all. The past 5-7 weeks have been so horribly frustrating to watch - I'm a huge fan of the kid, and I think his best is very good - But his current form certainly doesn't warrant a place in the starting 22.Despite his stats saying his year is about on par with the last season, albeit kicking more goals and getting a few less tackles and touches (almost like he's been playing up forward?).
I admit. I expected more from Melksham this year. But it's not like he has been awful (though the last 5 weeks have been poor, for sure). He's just never managed to play 4 quarters in the one game.
He put on a fair bit of weight last time pre-season. I expect now that that is behind him he will bulk up more reasonably and get a lot more run back into his legs for 2013. He obviously been very tired, and fitness was never his best asset.

Fair point. That aside though, you can't say Melk deserves his spot- He has been our worst player, consistently, for a fair while. I'm in no position to say who could take his spot, because I'm not sure we have the cattle, but his output is almost embarrassing.I would say that it does. Who else deserves the spot more? Steinberg? Lonergan? Half of the injured guys?
The fact is that Melksham, despite the haters views, is still contributing, and that we don't have anyone else who is fit enough or in good enough form to push him out.

What's he contributing, in your view?
As long as it's with white shorts I'm fine with it.Will we be seeing the Red and Grey jumper tonight? I hope not.
Does he need to have an injury to be dropped? There are players in the reserves who would be dying to have a crack at the big time, Melk looks totally lazy in his current role, like he just doesn't give two shits. He hasn't been out worst player, consistently, for a fair while.
You drop a player for a reason, not just for the sake of it. No one who is suggesting why Melksham should be dropped has any reason other than "I think he played bad". That's not the kind of thinking that makes a good footy team.

We don't need that sort of mindset in a professional club.
