Hille deserves a farewell game. They probably will want to do it against Collingwood as it is a home game.

McVeigh will just have to do a lap in a car, his body won't hold up to play.

Slattery will be delisted at seasons end- will they give him a last game as well?

We cannot go man on man with Richmond's midfield especially when most of our midfield can hardly break into a canter.

It was when we departed from our defensive midfield structure that Richmond's midfield started to shred our basically first choice set up which was fully fit at the time. I'd hate to think what they would do to us this time around.

We need to get numbers around the ball and clogg the game up which is where Watson, Hocking, Lonergan, Lee and co can break even with Cotchin, Martin, Tuck, Deledio and co.

I see your point and agree. Actually i always agree with your posts...

i was more talking about at the bounce, i've still got images burnt into my mind of Carlton walking away with the 'clearance' every time because we were all standing on one side of the circle and them the other. That second quarter was torture to watch! all i wanted was somebody to stand next to a man in the centre! At least try to stem the bleedeing for a bit.

im all for clogging every contest with numbers.

AMAZED noone on the team figured out that every. single. time. the ball was bounced, Carlton sat out the back and got the clearance.

Who knows what happens at centre bounces. If we win the taps which we generally tend to do we should at least be able to control the movement of the ball and get in place to block the opposition if things go wrong but it rarely happens.

As fas as I can tell, our centre bounce strategy is really simple, and it hasn't changed all season. We put everything into winning it, and so if we do, the other team better watch out. And if we lose it, we're ****ed. Sometimes either side might not get a clean break and we do it all over again. But this is pretty rare. We really don't force another bounce following a centre bounce much. Likely for us, early in the season we were winning these battles, although we failed a couple of times. GC were basically only able to stay with us for so long because Ablett kept on getting away, and Richmond were able to fight back in the 3rd quarter last time we played basically purely to this. It's possible even Knights was more defensive here. And as those examples sorta point out, we don't change it if it starts to consistently fail during a match

edit just checked. ablett had 13 clearances in our match. i was expecting a bit more tbh.

I'm not a tanking fan, but it would also lower out later round picks. (Plus very slightly increase the chance that he might slip to a second round).

Neither am I but there could be 2 reasons to think about it nowdays.

1/ Draft picks
2/ play GWS & GCS twice

Although the way we are going at the moment, winning No:2 may be no sure bet.

Just as a side point.... If we are following the Geelong blueprint too a tee... (which we are) i think its at the end of this year that we have the massive review, shit gets said, people get upset, then we move on. And step it up a gear. For memory about this time was the time bomber was thought to be close to the sack and was peeved at having to have been in a review. It was apparenmtly turmoil at the cattery.. then began the dynasty!

Bring on the sweeping review!

Actually, that would be the end of 2017. :)

Bomber started coaching in 2000. Sweeping review was the end of 2006.

So we've still got another 5 years to go...

Fairly sure we do play in the grey this week. Very excited to see if obrien gets a run. I'd look at bringing in riemers , kav and pears aswell. Just three names I'd like to see get a run. Can't think of who they come in for.
