Something tells me this will be a fairly big topic this week, so it might be best to get it started early. Also, it will give people a place to bag players in a constructive way.

Out: Murphy, Thornton, de Boer, Hayden (inj?)
In: Campbell, Pearce, Foster, Broughton/Walters

Obviously Murphy has to be dropped, there is no way the selectors could possibly keep him for next week. I think we need to bring in Campbell, as I don't think McPharlin is a key forward. Campbell will offer something different, and should compliment Headland and McPharlin quite well.

Thornton was good as a defensive forward, and he was even kicking a goal a game. But, he is worthless as a defender. All he can do is run through the centre square, but Pearce can do that. And would surely be a better option.

de Boer has been ok, but he hasn't really done all that much. He just isn't finding a lot of the ball, and his disposal efficiency was the worst of any player today. I think he might benefit from returning to the WAFL for a few weeks, and this would give us a chance to see Foster back in the team.

While if Hayden is injured, I would bring in Broughton or Walters. Depending on whether he would have played as a small forward or small defender.

I'm assuming there will be people calling for Hinkley, Dodd and Grover to be dropped. Personally, I would keep all three. Dodd provided us with some good run out of the back line, although he did make a few mistakes. But more importantly, he beat Aaron Edwards and kept him to just 1 goal.

Grover had an off match, but he had been good in the last few weeks. He is a senior player, and you don't drop them after just one quiet game. The option is to move McPharlin back, and bring in Clarke. With Johnson rotating between forward and back, but I would prefer to just stick with Grover. Give him the next couple of weeks before the break to redeem himself, if he hasn't improved by then...

As for Hinkley, being his buddy I might be a bit biased. But, I thought it was one of his better games. Before you start, I know he made a few mistakes and his kicking was generally quite poor. However, he never stopped taking the game on. This was my biggest criticism of him this year. He backed himself in, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. You can't teach a player to take the game on, you can however teach a player to kick. Hinkley will only improve, and I think this improvement will be a lot quicker in he continues in the AFL rather than dropping him back to the WAFL. Anyway, that was my buddy defending for this week, so feel free to bag him as I know most will.

The one other player I would like to see given a shot is Clarke. He has been ready for a month, and it could well be his time. But the only way I can see him playing, is if they bring him in for Murphy. With Johnson playing as a permanent forward, but I would prefer the variety that Campbell brings.

I can't wait for Brock, Mayne and Ballantyne to be fit and ready to play. I think all three will add a lot to the side.

Definite out - Murphy

Maybe out - Hayden :(

I'm with Chris here...and I will admit that I have always liked Hinkley. He needs to stay in the team and I can see improvements in him as each week goes by.

Thornton - well I think he was played in the wrong position...play him at hf or not at all.

If Murphy and Hayden out then I would want Clarke and Broughton in.

Hinkley made a few mistakes?

Geez, and the Titanic was just a little bit sunk. Horrible

Out: Murphy, Hinkley, Thornton

In: Zach Clarke, Broughton, Clancee Pearce (rookie upgrade)

Lol . Yeh he had a bad one but he has played pretty well in past weeks . dropping players for one bad one and we wouldnt field a team .

What we need to do is get rid of the proven rubbish

Out: Thornton , Murphy - both never to return ! Ever .
In: Broughton , Pratt or a potentail young crumbing forward.

Walters would HAVE to offer more that Murphy now with Headland back?!?!!??!!

Son son should get an opportunity against Richmond!!!

Freo Salvos to pay out their contracts at the end of the season so they can pay uni fees for their life after footy [we couldn't get a can of coke for them right now anyway] :thumbsu:

Out: Thornton, Murphy giving us absolutely nothing! there is no upside here!
In: Kiwi for Murphy and ANYONE for Thornton!! take your pick from Broughton, Pratt, Foster...

ps cannot wait to get Mayne's run and intensity back and we sadly missed a crumbing forward today so surely Ballantyne has to be a huge chance as soon as he is fit

Nah. Hinkley was crap, and has been crap previously. Was on the borderline as it was.

Didn't think Thornton was that bad.

Those saying Campbell really aren't thinking. Clarke offers our team SOOOOOOOOOO much more flexibility, and results, it isn't funny. You guys obviously haven't been watching.

Out - Murphy, Hinkley, Hayden :(, Grover

In - Broughton, Clarke, Walters, Pearce/ Pratt

Out - Murphy, Thorton, Hayden

Hinkley would be lucky to stay in his kicking was horrible but I think we should give him 1 more week. Would love to bring Campbell back in but his form hasn't warrented it.

Murphy - OUT! OUT! OUT! AND STAY OUT!!
Hayden - Out if injured
Hinkley - Out if Hayden manages to stay in the side

Broughton - In
Walters/Pratt/Ruffles - In

Good game by Headland today.:thumbsu:

.

Clearly not being at the ground you didnt notice but de Boer did an awesome job against Wells after he toweled up Hill at the start of the second quarter. If it wasn't for him they would have been 3 goals up with Well's dominating. Should not be Dropped.

Out: Murphy, Hayden (inj.)
IN: Campbell, Broughton

The reason i wan't Kiwi in is because he may only get the same amount of possesions as Murphy would but gee wizz! at least he will create a contest rather than float away like a puff of dust!! MURPHY is the fairiest fairy of them all! Not Good enough!

Walters /Ruffles for Murphy
Broughton /Pearce for Dodd. I love Dodd's shutdown game but his errors are bordering on farcial. Turned it over at crucial times.
McPharlin back to defence, Jonno forward, Clarke for Thornton. To play forward and have short spells in the ruck.
Foster for Hinkley Unless his disposal / decision making improves he's not up to it.

His job on Wells was quite good, and he kept him to his career average in regards to disposals. But to be a successful tagger in modern football, you need to be able to win the ball yourself. At this stage, de Boer isn't quite capable of doing that.

I think he'd benefit from going back to the WAFL and winning a heap of the ball there for a few weeks. And that would allow us to play both Pearce and Foster next week.

Win the ball when playing in defense??? Wells dominated at CHF and de Boer went to him and stopped him. Pretty much what Dodd does to other fowards. Did well and shouldn't be dropped. IMO.

You're way off the beat here like a wacky metronome.

Very annoyed with half the team after that effort. Possibly our worst for the year considering the below average opposition and our 1/4 time lead.

Out: Murphy (2 handballs....that is all), Hinkley, De Boer, hayden (inj)
Ins: Clarke, Foster, Pearce, Broughton/Walters (depending on matchups)

Campbell has done nothing and doesnt deserve a gig. Bradley is close but needs another good wafl performance. Thornton is on the border to be dropped. Mundy is struggling also.

Time to play some more youngsters...if we cant beat North without Harvey we mite aswell play the kids.

When hinckley was running with the ball he looked like a rabbit in the headlights. very hesitant to release the ball.

What part am I way off?

That successful taggers need to be able to win their own ball? That deBoer isn't winning the ball enough at the moment?

de Boer did a good job on Wells, I'm not arguing that. It's just that I think he needs to win more of the ball himself. My reason for dropping him was purely that I would like to see both Pearce and Foster play next week.

I don't think going back to the WAFL for a couple of weeks and getting a heap of the ball would hurt him at this stage. But I wouldn't be disappointed if he played for us, for the rest of the season either. As long as we don't pigeon hole him as purely a stopper.

1) We don't have a tagger in our team.

2) He's in his first year, only had a couple of games.

3) Hinkley would be miles ahead of him, to be dropped. De Boer might not get it much, but at least he wins his own ball, and doesn't look out of his depth... unlike a soft outside receiver with pee wee skills.

4) His tackling pressure is usually brilliant.
