Luthor, i don't see it as a totally unrealistic idea, would be the only opportunity to see whether he has the capability to play as a tall forward. He is a good mark and has a very good kick on him. I am sold!:D

He is a good mark and has a very good kick on him.

These are the factors that attract me to the idea of giving him a run as a forward.

He's shown excellent closing speed as a defender but appears to struggle if it's a body on body situation.

Also, as a defender he often looks indecisive with ball in hand.

As a forward, there wouldn't be too many variables for his brain to have to cope with....just boot it at the goals.

That booming kick would be an asset anywhere within 60 meters from the big sticks.:thumbsu:

Your sig is good luthor but the spelling mistake is annoying ;)

I think this week will be the perfect chance to give Tom Rockliff a go - even if Hendo is available. Pearce would also have to be in contention.

I know this is a big call but if both Rhan or Trav don't get games in the next week or two, they may not play too many more with us. I think the club(Vossy) has nearly decided that enough is enough both of these guys. Hope I'm wrong with Rhan because he definitely has potential to give us the 'X' factor a team needs to be successful.

Agree with CTD. I thought Ace was only just there on debut and has been remembered more fondly than he deserves in many people's minds because he kicked a couple of goals. Not saying he wont be a player in time, because i hope he will but in all fairness there are a fair few in front of him in the pecking order at the present time.
I respect your opinion Jackson7 but having watched Cornelius in a few ressies matches (earlier in the year, I'll admit) I have a lot of faith in this kid. He is so versatile: good strong hands; trusty kick; cool under pressure; effective in the ruck; reliable in defence or attack; mature minded and a bit of a leader out on the field. I know his time in the firsts was patchy but if Cornelius has been impressing in the ressies again of late, give him another chance in the seniors I say.

Guys I think where all forgetting that Hooper is only 21 and he was outstanding earlier on in the year. He is a great player at his best and I think it could be a bit to early to call for his head!

Exactly. If Henderson and Bradshaw are out, than I don't think anyone is higher than him in the pecking order other than perhaps Scott Clouston who has been injured and won't be considered. The only other person would be maybe Tyler who in my opinion isn't higher than him in the pecking order.

Depends on whether Brennan and Henderson are fit - 2 key players in doubt is a big variable, as their availability have consequences in the ruck, midfield, forward and defence (in other words, every part of the field ;)).

For example:
Brennan in, Henderson out - Brennan may play forward.
Brennan out, Henderson in - Henderson may play forward.
Brennan in, Henderson in - Brennan to do his usual ruck/midfield thing + Henderson forward
Brennan out, Henderson out - Notting to fill in ruck (vs Geelong), Lions to go small up forward with only Brown, OR bring in another marking option - but there the selection is less obvious, with Tyler and Cornelius both showing something but maybe not enough (and Cornelius has been played in defence recently).

See? Hurts my head just thinking about it, so I won't speculate on the changes. :p

While Bradshaw and Brennan are two massive "outs", they can be covered.

To cover the loss of Bradshaw: I suggest moving Joel "Speckie" Patfull to full forward and replacing him in defence with Roe. For all those Fitzroy supporters with a good memory, remember the very occasional move of the brilliant defender Chris Smith to the forward line? Paid off every time.

In place of Brennan: Matt Austin

These changes wouldn't unsettle the team too much and it means we don't make the mistake of giving Travis Johnstone a game on the back of other players injuries rather than his own form.

I am very optimistic that we can not only beat the Roos but we will "pants" them, despite the loss of Bradshaw and Brennan.

I'd keep changes to a minimum:

OUT: Bradshaw, IN: Hendo
OUT: Brennan, IN: Tippett???

Tippett will be a very good in because it will be good to develop him now rather than later and also it will give Mitch a rest and will free hime up. Also do any of you know if brennan will be back for the collingwood game??

I share very similar thoughts but with a slight alteration.
-Put Browny to the true full foward position, isolating him one-on-one as he was in the latter stage of the Fremantle game (when tarrant was off injured).
-Patfull at CHF as a lead up player as he has fantastic hands and is very quick.

Patful started his career for us as a pinch hitting foward and I believe the transition would not be overly difficult

I agree with you but i dont think vossy will reshuffle the backline. I think he will bring Hendo in and put him into the forward line.. I dont care if he doesnt play patfull in the forward line this week but he should play him there when we play against Collingwood and Essendon or else they are just going double or even triple team Browny.

Throw Drummond up forward. We'll go goal to goal in 2 kicks.

Rich to take the kick-in, take two bounces and release a thunderbolt from defensive 50. Drummond to mark it in center square, take a bounce and release a monster from just outside forward 50.

Perfect. :D

Wishful thinking.
