Changes For Round 23

Interesting game. We could probably rest a player or two and still easily win, but it looks arrogant and you can get embarrassed pretty easily if you're off. Not to mention the pre-finals bye.

But is the Optus stadium as hard and taxing as people are making it out to be?

Freo are in an interesting spot. Their season is over and has been for a while. They got absolutely embarrassed by Geelong. Do they try and save face? Farewell games for any players?

I just had a look and WBD play Carlton today, which no doubt they'll win. WBD will overtake Fremantle on the ladder, leaving Freo 14th with pick 5 (pre-compensation). Doubt they'll want to jeopardise that selection now will they?

Yep should be the only one, but I’m not sure he’ll get up for the flight over.
Some years ago after a game in Perth? we chartered a plane to fly home at low altitude - do the same now - refit with business class seats.. just for players and maybe coaches - never mollycoddle an official....

Not much comment has been made of Murrays omission for "personal reasons".

Firstly, I hope hes ok. Secondly, I wonder if he'd be brought straight in if ready due to him not just being dropped or rested but rather, unavailable?
I'd bring him in becuase we'll need his speed and dare across half back during the finals but I get the feeling he won't come in.

Changes I'd make for finals given availability/likely recovery etc are:

IN: Howe, Treloar, Murray, Moore

OUT: Oxley, Murphy, Magden, Sier

Emergencies: Sier, Daicos, Magden, Brown

As for next week if Dees win today I'd be tempted to rest a few and give a game to Blair, Fasolo and Brown in case they are called upon.

If not:

IN: Howe, Murray
OUT: Murphy, Oxley (for next week

In - Howe, Murray & Fasolo
Out- De Goey (Injured) ,Murphy & Oxley
De Goey a worry as leg injury appears to be lingering with rest the best cure. Greenwood to tag Fyffe.Murphy stiff to be dropped.Oxley has filled the void required for his last 2 appearances which we have won & no criticism of him from me.Fasolo to fire up in front of his family & to back up Bucks statement that he is still a required player.

I read it was a family bereavement.

Howe for Murphy.

Sorry but a couple of  to your post.

Sier is best 22 not going anywhere. If Howe and Moore get back no need for Murray. Sier stays.

If Dees win today we are a chance for top 2 and even less chance of resting anyone.

Why Sier out for finals? - He seems to do quite well in pressure stoppages - and there will be more pressure stoppages in finals

Am i the only one that realises if we win next week, regardless of percentage, we will finish top 4? Alot here saying we need to make sure we put up a big score to lock up top 4, which is incorrect.

The two teams that can catch us, if we win, are Sydney and Hawthorn, who are playing each other. They both can't win next week.

Lowest we can finish is 4th if we win next week. We should be resting players and getting a solid win, thats it. No need for some huge attempt at percentage boosting. We have a better percentage than Sydney and Hawthorn, and odds are we will beat Freo by more than they will beat each other by.

Give some blokes a rest, Jordy, Stepho in particular.

I don’t think resting is an option. There’s no one really to come in. Plus we have the bye the week after.

Posters suggesting Sier or Langdon be dropped either for Freo or finals need a concussion test.

Taking the piss surely?

BTW watch the Langdon interview on the CFC site. Seems like a great bloke and very humble.

I’d keep Murphy in and drop Ox for Howe. People have short memories, sure it was good when Ox put his head over the ball in the last quarter but up to half time I reckon every single one of his kicks/handballs went directly to an opposition player in a dangerous position.

Thought Murphy looked great. Would definitely retain at least for Freo.

So you follow Collingwood, you say?

Yeah but obviously you’re a better fan than me, that’s what gives you the right to go on with your self-righteous garbage.

Good sniping though, at least this time your comment probably won’t get deleted like the last time you tried to get personal hey.

In Howe
Out Oxley

The only other change I'd consider is if somehow magically Moore/Elliot/Reid/Goldsack were fit and we wanted to squeeze a game in. But they likely won't be.

Is Pendles carrying something? Perhaps a rest? Hopefully he is all good.

Shouldnt rest anyone. Need the players who are going to play finals to get familiar with optus stadium as i think well end up playing there in first week of finals.

Did you notice we won yesterday?

It was a great game, who were your best? (Hint: Fasolo didn't play)

I think Murphy stays in for experience, but comes out for finals.

He was really impressive in the first half, but was completely anonymous after half time. It could be that his tank just needs building, because he certainly has some skills. Lovely kick.
