What the hell at the OP wanting to drop Pfeiffer. He was awesome tonight and is showing more than what Hadley has done by far.

In: Bentick, Armfield, Edwards/Hartlett
Out: Cloke, (unlucky but with Kreuzer and Hampson he is just excess) Hadley, Russell

 @ you wanting Hadley out, Dick played a better game than Pfeiffer.

Laid 10 tackles, 16 pos & set up a couple of nice plays. Don't get me wrong, Pfeiffer did play well but not as good as Dick and we need someone who is a strong tackler in out side (especially whilst Bentick is out).

I would also keep Cloke in and play him as CHF/ruck. To alternate positions with Kreuzer. Hammer to be #1 ruckman & play down in a FP when resting. No one can match his leap and he has strong hands to take those contested marks.

I think it is 99% certain Russell will be dropped which is excellent for the team. Bentick should come in for his ball magnetism in the Ants and tackling ability.

O'hAilpin should not come back in. He just doesn't know what he is doing, a shocking football brain. He may be big and have heart, but that is just not enough. He can't tackle, hardly takes a contested mark (which is what he should be doing a lot of), never imposes himself on the game and he has terrible disposal. A key reason we conced over 100 points a game.

People calling for Heath to be dropped are crazy. He pretty much generals the defence and without him down there matters would be even worse. He has a mature body which is important in our young side. He just had a bad night last night but will improve against the pies.

Someone who should be dropped for just one week is Bryce Gibbs, so he can carve up with the ants and come back with confidence. This would also give someone like Edwards another crack, or even Armfield and could possibly unearth a gem.

P.S. Murphy has proven this year he is so much better than Dale Thomas.

People calling for Bryce Gibbs to be dropped are crazy. If we start dropping 19year old kids after they've had two good 20+ possesion games then we deserve to stay at the bottom for the next five years and loose one of our best kids to Adelaide.

Agreed.

Either Scotland or Houlihan would be dropped if Walker was fit.

I don't know why people rate Scotland when he never picks up his man and chases kicks to make his stats look he had a good game. Playing as a sweeper off half back like Scotland would have to be one of the "easiest" gigs in football.

The problem with our defence is players like Scotland, Stevens, Carrazzo and Houlihan are slow and don't apply any defensive pressure.

Gibbs and Murphy aren't quick either.

Shitty Mark McVeigh scored four goals last night.

It's like watching a training drill when the opposition take the ball out of the middle down the ground for a goal because these guys don't chae.

But Scotland is a general?

That's insulting to Peter Dean who ran through two Cats to win the ball and was a great rebounder off half back.

Had it with Carlton fans accepting second best and rating Scotland and Houlihan as player because they have such silky skills.

They're nothing but vanilla slices who crumble under the slightest bit of pressure and turn it over.

But it's Russell who will get the majority of our scorn and not our so called stars who are good for your dreamteams.

Pfeiffer should stay because he puts his head over the ball and it was just his second game.

watching medhurst today he is a big problem next week. who on him? bower? thornton?

setanta-rocca
waite - cloke
jamo?...

didnt think russell was THAT bad. would be happy to see a message sent to houlihan for his pisspoor performance.

IN- setanta, jackson

OUT- hampson, russell or houlihan

if both russ and houla then bring in one of the young small backs (i'd love to see this)

i dont think we can have 4 ruckman size in the team 2 is enough or dont bring setanta back

Why on the face of the earth would they want to drop Cloke?
He was absolutely dejected when he got injured the week before playing against his old club last year and this week he gets the chance. Plus he has been fantastic so far this season. His been working hard and the results are evident.

Russel is a certainty to be dropped and if he isn't we have issues.

Out: Russel Bannister
In: Bentick O'HAilpin Benjamin

Quickest and easiest way to lose credibility:

Advocating we play more than one first gamer outside of round one as a solution at the selection table:

It's almost too easy to run the "ignore list" on here through anyone who continually spruiks "Yeh bring in Browne, Armfield, Benjamin AND Aisake, drop Thornton cuz he nearly went to the Hawks, Russell cuz no-one else likes him, Houlihan because it's an easy target, and Cloke because he had 1/4 of a bad game. Give them all 100% game time, play them on the opposition's best players, and we'll win by 10 goals easily!"

Another one who advocates dropping Bannister? Why would we do that?

He's successfully shut down his three opponents so far this season, and none of them have had any impact on the game at all..

It's simple, drop the passengers and liabilities.

Passengers & Liabilities:

Russell - Hasn't got a footy brain, doesn't read the game and has no defencive skills, lacks special attributes to make up for this such as hardness at the ball etc. Should be playing in the reserves for Hawthorn.

Pfeiffer - Can he get a kick? Looks to be a bit slow? Hope he proves me wrong.

Houlihan - Too slow, gets exploited for pace, hasn't beaten an opponent to the ball for 6 years, has great skills but against good teams with pace he wont get a chance to use them because he wont get a kick. Can't tackle, it's simple, players who can't tackle and keep up with opponents are liabilities and cost goals. Our opponents are exploiting his lack of pace, endurance and tackling skills brilliantly.

The Backline - needs to work on spoiling, too often defenders get a fist to the ball and it only went a few meters and sat up for opposition crumbers. be good to see more big fists going towards the boundary. Simply needs time to develop and time for the kids to grow out.

Bannister - Borderline, Dropped a crucial mark that cost a goal V Essendon but seems to always put in and generally has good skills and defencive smarts, just lacks class and good disposal skills, holding his spot just.

Out of form:

Kade Simpson - Why can't he kick anymore? Mr Turnover.

Bryce Gibbs - had the fumbles for the first time in his career V Essendon early on.

Ins and Outs:

Ins - Jackson, Wiggins, Anderson

Outs - Houlihan, Russell, Pfeifer

U are a human peanut hybrid.

Houlihan did an excellent blanketing job on the human excitment machine Davey. For godaske if some of our other players could of contained their direct opponets we would of won the game.

Note : Houlihan 21 touches and Davey 15 and 1 goal in an open and attacking game.... Houlihan for me.

Why do people rate scotland? mmmm.... must of been the 400 possessions he got last year... u peanut!!!!

Houlihan beat Davey so u have lost your mind (which may in fact be a good thing)

Note: Houlihan didn't play on Davey the whole game.

He's playing in defence and he's laid 3 tackles for the season, 3 ____ing tackles!

That's pathetic, play somene who'll at least put body on body and make the opposition earn a kick or hurt from getting it.

I couldn't agree more.

I actually think Wiggins should be given a go in Russell's place. I guess that makes me the anti-christ.

It is wrong to blame Bannister for dropping that mark. The ball was kicked on top of his head by Russell, making it extremely easy for the Essendon player to punch the ball away.

What I would like to see:
OUT: Russell, Scotland, Bannister
IN: Bentick, Wiggins, Browne

Most likely:
OUT: Russell
IN: Bentick

Sick of guys like Scotland who know they will get a game next week regardless of how they perform. Is obviously a much better player than what he showed on Saturday night, but seems to be just going through the motions. We need to make a stand and pick players who would bleed for the guernsey but unfortunately our depth is non existent:(

Carrazzo is another who has gone backwards this year, seems to think with Judd and now Stevens is back, it will just happen for him. Hopefully he will turn it around this week.

Russell, say no more. Have run out of patience. Gone in my opinion.

Bannister, yes can do a reasonable tagging job but we are going nowhere fast with him in the side. If we are after bigger bodies, I would prefer the hardness of Wiggins.

I am very frustrated as we all are, hopefully a win is not to far away:(

btw, since were 0-3 already and will not make the finals, i say we finish last again and get the two priority picks. Then we offer them to brisbane for jonathan brown.

Way, way, WAY too early for that sort of thinking buddy.

Btw those who don't recognise Hadley's contribution on the weekend are bloody wood ducks! He was under an injury cloud all week and thus not expected to play. Couple of times during the game you could see he was a bit proppy on it but gritted his teeth and played his best game so far - tackling and contests were spot on.

Hanging out for a time when this is a typical much repeated post on here.
