Bring in people that can apply pressure, give Wiggins ago, he can lay a tackle and Bentick.

Out: Russell and Pfieffer
In: Bentick and Wiggo

Out: Russell, Scotland, Houlihan
In: Bentick, Browne, Hartlett
Quickest and easiest way to lose credibility:

Advocating we play more than one first gamer outside of round one as a solution at the selection table:

It's almost too easy to run the "ignore list" on here through anyone who continually spruiks "Yeh bring in Browne, Armfield, Benjamin AND Aisake, drop Thornton cuz he nearly went to the Hawks, Russell cuz no-one else likes him, Houlihan because it's an easy target, and Cloke because he had 1/4 of a bad game. Give them all 100% game time, play them on the opposition's best players, and we'll win by 10 goals easily!"
Because he is slow, soft and doesn't apply any defensive pressure.

You can only carry so many of this type of player in the team.

Two tackles, 0 contested possessions and 67% efficiency is pathetic for a player of Ryan's experience.

Hadley had at least 7 tackles and he isn't any faster than Houlihan.

Then why is he being played in the backline?

Been constantly played out of position for years, mostly out of necessity. Now, there's at least some depth there so Houlihan can play up forward. Poor positioning, rather than anything to do with Houlihan, although I do admit those same characteristics you point out are very much more than valid.

Even Judd looked at sea whenever he was forced down back with McVeigh, and hence played out of position.

Is on the chopping block, admittedly, but I'd prefer him to Carrazzo or Scotland at the moment.

Another ridiculous, constantly parroted (pardon the pun) statement in these types of threads:

"Play Setanta because he has the size to go with Rocca."

Theoretically, so does Casey Donovan. Not only would she provide some salary cap relief as I doubt she'd ask for much to work, I reckon she'd do just as good a job as Setanta.

Why would you pick blokes based on one particular aspect alone?

Let's pick Matt Shirvington because he's quick and has a donkey dick. Let's pick Andrew Gaze because we may need someone to drill a lay up. Let's pick Stephen Hawking because he's ____ing smart, and hey, the wheelchair might come in handy to run someone over in the packs.

Is Setanta the best overall option to play on Rocca, or is he just the biggest option? Thornton's made a career out of playing above his weight. Why not him instead? How many full backs that are at a decent level at the moment, were given the opportunities they were given when they first started based on "Yeah, we figured we'd give him a game...he sure looked tall!"

Setanta for all he brings to the side, is not the answer based on his size alone.
