The old vent the anger thread, lucky i missed the first half due to work.

I've defended Fletcher most of the time, but his decision making today has me baffled. But its not only him the whole team has done it today. We've gone back to the old ways of rushing handballs. Its a credit to the Saints play more than we being atrocious.

Kerr's always under the pump and cant break away, the Saints are all over us like shadows. Theres pretty much f*** all we can do.

I'll just consider todays performance a complete an utter writeoff.

Dont blame Hansen, Blame Woosha and our Midfield.
He's getting Piss poor delivery and has been playing not only up the ground but has also been playing in the Backline..... Hard to kick goals from their.

Out: Fletcher, Masten, Ebert, Davis, Stenglein, Priddis, McKinley, Nicoski.

IN: Butler, Staker, Wirrpanda, Kennedy, S.Selwood, McNamara, W.Schofield, Cockie, McGinnity.

Rnd 4
FB: B.Jones, Glass, Mackenzie
HB: Hurn, M.Brown, S.Selwood
C: M. Rosa, S.Butler, A.Embley
HF: J.McNamara, J.Kennedy, B.Staker
FF: M.LeCras, A.Hansen, Wirrpanda
RR: D.Cox, D.Kerr, Cockie
INT: Schofield, McGinnity, Lynch, Hunter

Anything else would be a disgrace.

Right cos bringing in all the players that werent performing well enough to play in todays effort will change this for the better

Seriously guys there is no chance any more than 3 or 4 changes will occur next week.

Lol.

To those suggesting 6, 7 and 8 changes....as disappointing as today has been, many of us were of the opinion that we had close to our best 22 in today and were comfortable with no changes from last week. Yep, Fletcher and Hansen's time may have come. But the kind of wholesale changes being suggested on the back of one terrible performance are unlikely to be happen.

Let's not forget, we have always been ordinary at Docklands, and it was only really in the 05 / 06 seasons that we improved our overall record at the venue. St Kilda will be in the top few you would imagine this year. The lack of effort was disappointing to see, but I certainly didn't expect to beat St Kilda today, and if we had would have seriously altered my expectations of what 09' may bring.

I'm as excited aout Swift as anyone, but already in the first 25 minutes of the game at East Freo, there are signs that he is not going to do any better than some of the guys currently in the side.

He looks classy, he looks exciting. He gathered in the middle and ran to 50 for a shot and it was great to watch, until he took a step too many and was easily smothered.

He positioned himself to intercept a clearing EF kick from defence...only to misjudge the distance and trip over his own feet when he tried to backtrack.

Minutes later he picked up on the wing and butchered a short pass so bad it ended up on the roof of the grandstand.

I think he'll be a champion, and love a lot of what he does, but if he had an Eagles jumper on and his birth certificate said he was over 26, there'd be people calling for his head on some of the stuff he's done today.

Some guys who really need questions asked as to whether they are worth persisting with, considering the time they've already spent in the side:

Fletcher
Hansen
Stenglein
Nicoski
Embley
Rosa

Plenty of bad performers today, but we have to ask whether it's worth giving these guys games when they do bugger all to stop the bleeding and we could be blooding Kennedy, Scott Selwood and other young players.

Perhaps the only reason they are still playing the dead wood is that we're gonna cop the inevitable flogging so may as well not sap all of the young guys' confidence.

Kudos to several backline players who, despite today's anihilation, were our best performers - MacKenzie, Brown and Glass.

Worked their butts off, proud of those blokes and I feel sorry for them with the Sherrin coming in there every 30-40 seconds. **** the midfield has to buy them some drinks for the amount of times they turned the ball over costing us goals.

Been said elsewhere, those calling for 6 + changes get real?..

Whilst 6 or 7 deserve to be dropped on today's performance the reality is only 2 or maybe 3 will.

For what it's worth:

Out : Take your pick.

In: A midfield.

Oh by the way Staker is dominating for East Freo at the moment.

Well you were *****n way off weren't ya. About 90 points off.

Way to miss the point. If you hadn't selectively quoted me, you'd note the bit in the exact same post where I said I did NOT expect to win.

My point was, many Eagles supporters were happy with 22 selected about 3 hours ago. All of a sudden there are some calling for up to 8 changes.

what's with the wholesale changes ? yes we go thumped but shuffling in half a team isn't going to solve the problem.

out: fletcher
in: swift, and some good coaching / tactics

hope swift is quick by nature and by name...we need some speed against the doggies!

The reality is that the match committee will have to make changes. The reality attached to that is it will be no more than five. Perhaps we should be looking at areas we drastically need to improve in - I know some of you will say all - but for the future we need:

* Some pace and grunt in the midfield
* A key position forward who can take a contested mark
* Someone to help Cox out in the ruck and I don't mean Seaby
* A player, who in the old days would have played on the wing, who can be a good link man but also has deft skills and speed.

A lot of players performed badly today but they weren't helped - again - by inactivity in the coaches box.

In: Butler, Swift
Out: Ebert, Fletcher

A like for like. Butler is experienced and much better than Fletcher and I think Ebert is struggling for fitness, so why not bring in Swift.

Maybe Kennedy for Hansen, not sure, if the coaching staff will drop him.

Concerned about Mitch Brown. Second game in a row he has come off with a sore knee.
Didn't look impeded after coming back on, so it is probably just a coincidence.

first of all i'll start with asking what we lacked the most today and who can help change that.

so first and foremost we lacked clean disposal out of the backline (and everywhere else):
Wirra

we also lacked any HF presence:
Kennedy

we had no real midfield run:
SPANGHERRRRRRRRRR (ok i know it wont happen, most likely staker will come in)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Possible outs: nearly everyone besides a select few according to this thread.

my outs:
Fletcher - sorry mate, i cant stick up for you today
Hansen - the ranga's immobility annoys me greatly. he tried, not our worst...but seriously JK ftw.

then a toss up between Embley/Masten/Ebert/Nico/Bmac

Embley's form worries me, i dont think him going back to the WAFL would hurt considering how shit his form currently is.

by the way...what the cuck was hansen doing in the backline at some parts of the game.

For all crap that gets dish out to Fletch.. I don't know what Embley is doing at the moment to warrant a spot.

Andrew Embley is not a shadow of the player he used to be. I don't think dropping him down to the WAFL will make any difference. It is more mental than anything and really up to him if he wants to not only make a contribution in 2009 but play on in 2010.

Embley really has been rubbish, which is even more disappointing considering he is a senior player.

With regards to Fletcher, if he was a selector I doubt even he would select himself in the team.
