Changes for Round 6 v Adelaide

I may be in the minority, but i believe Branders future is as a half back. Possibly if he gets a bit bigger, a center half back.

Thats puts our future spine as potentially

Allen: FF
Waterman: CHF

Brander: CHB (possibly)
Barrass: Full Back

Could be worse. Whatever else is said though, Brander does not belong on a wing

Not bad...plus Williams looks to be developing nicely as a serviceable ruck option at a minimum. Need to start focusing our draft strategy on the midfield...

If Ah Chee gets the ball away from goal he looks totally unsure of what to do when he gets the ball. He goes in hard but I'm not sure he has the nous for midfield.
Fair enough, was just thinking of his bulk, decent kick and power-handball, but if he doesn't know what to do with it...'aint much chop?
He's certainly got a good leap on him, but hasn't quite worked that out either...
If he can put it all together, might be a bit of a package...but how long does it take?

We looked more balanced today than we have all season. Should try and go for like for like replacements for Shuey and Jones as best as possible.

Cameron for Jones seems obvious if he’s available. Ainsworth was an emergency this week - possibly not a bad time to give him a crack against a weak Adelaide side?

Exactly. We finally looked balanced and had players playing where they should.

During the game we covered Shuey with Gaff on ball. So we can do that and bring in a winger for Gaff......just not Brander. Maybe Jetta or Duggan to the wing. Redden even.

JJ gets replaced by Cameron or Petrucelle.

So out: Shuey and JJ both injured.

In: Jetta and Cameron or Ainsworth and Cameron.

Does JK get a game off or not? Or do we keep trying to play him into form?

Xon has been listed with a back injury for weeks.

Has he even been playing in the scrimmage games? Training fully?
I was under the impression he was playing the scratchies, yeah. I think I saw 24 running around in the footage from this weekend.

That’s Mitch O’Neill. He’s still in Tassie.

XON is playing the scratchies.

Decision making isn't his thing, that instance yesterday when second guessed himself a couple of times before running hinself into trouble and handballing over his head straight to the opposition was poor.
Surely the get out option is to take territory with a kick rather than a blind handpass.

He's a tease alright. Got most of the attributes required to play at the level, but can't consistently put it together. Took a great mark on the wing late in the game, but then looked totally flummoxed about what to do next. When he's within 50 of goal instinctively he knows where the ball needs to go; through the big sticks, to the top of the square or to a free player. Further out it seems he's not in sync with what the plan is.

Not a fan of Gaff playing a lot of footy in the guts, but he did well when Shuey went down and actually laid a number of solid tackles too. So for the Adelaide game, not against the suggestion earlier of Gaff to the middle, Duggan pushing up to Gaff's spot on the wing, and Jetta coming back for Duggan's backline role (as I feel Jetta was stiff to be dropped in the first place given the worse form of others).

IN: Cameron, Jetta
OUT: Shuey, Jones

If Redden is suspended then things get a bit trickier. But the Adelaide game is as good as any to give a young mid like Ainsworth a chance. or whoever played well in the scratch match.

Just not Brander (even though I think he has a bright future as a KPP).

Gaff is so much better when he hits the contest with some momentum; a quick receive and suddenly we're streaming forward and delivering lace-out to a lead. Leaving him out the back as a distributor ends up in a half-step-back hack kick that goes nowhere.

Agree 100%.

I think he had less than 20 touches yesterday but had so much more impact than when he's caught flat-footed at the back of a pack all game but racks up 30+ touches.

Any luck Harry Edwards is going to be our number one tall defender in a few years. Has all the tools.

In all seriousness this kid needs to play as many games as possible. Keep him in the team Simmo. Makes things happen

If we’re gonna bring in one of the young midfielders I’d almost prefer Brayshaw. Forecast is for rain and he was a wet weather specialist in the WAFL last year. He’s a mature body now and will have a red hot crack every time the ball is there to be won.

Just checked the forecast for Brisbane. It says partly cloudy for next Saturday.
