That was nothing, just a heavy bump.

I would give Cotchin another run at VFL level to gain some fitness and form. I would bring Cousins in as he will take a hard tag and relieve pressure on other players. Patto did some good things and clearly just needs to find his feet again, would NOT drop him. JON has played how many games? 8 or so.. also did good things and showed better decision making skills than normal in patches.

IN: Cousins
OUT: Polo
Agree with all of that, with Cousins even if he takes a week or 2 to run into full fitness he'll cop a primo tagger and provide us with some much needed class in the middle. Polo wasn't bad, but he was only serviceable.

No change

Simmonds for Pattison and Cuz for either Collins or Polo would surely be the only realistic ones. I like Polo though, although he is VERY slow, he does offer another option in defence. Collins needs to work on his skills a bit more but will get better with more games.

If Richo isn't fit, then Schultz comes in

Its good to know that we have:
  • Cotchin
  • Raines
  • Cousins
  • Thustfield
  • Edwards
  • Schultz
  • Simmonds
  • Brown
To all potentially come back into the side. All of the above were all considered best 22 players at the start of the year

Indeed, in a good win where everyone has a dip it's hard to find a player to drop. Polo was probably least effective and it's not worth playing Cousins in the VFL. 45 days for a minor strain and he's 31 on a 1 year contract. Play him or don't at all. Would give Richo a rest if he is 50/50 over his injury too. Only tall who has shown form in the VFL is Schulz so you would have to bring him in unless they say to Hughes, "Your in for a few weeks mate, now make the most of out". Many times over the last couple of years, including a quarter or so tonight, when Richo isn't playing we aren't forced to look for him even when he might be the wrong option - 2 or 3 on 1 and we choose better options.

Saw the Burgers game...and unless Cotchy comes up, there is nothing there in the Burgers that deserves to come up immediately. Certainly not Schulz. Give Vickery more time in a league he can currently cope with, he's getting used to get the ball, imposing himself and understand the game quicker than others.

No need to drop anyone...give em all another crack. They deserve it.
Though we didn't beat a team at their best.
And did notice Polo lost at times, but others brought him into it.

To all those in the 'Richo should play for the next thousand year' camp.
Notice how we won without Brown, Simmo and less influence from Richo.
See! The RFC will survive AFTER Richo.
Get used to it.

Polo needs to gain experience for a start. Like all players he'll improve out of site with another 20 games

whats with the drop polo talk?

I really wonder what games people watch sometimes..

For everyone who thinks Polo should be dropped, please do yourselves a favour and watch a replay, he was very solid and very polished in his work today and offered some good run out of defence for those who bag his run.

Simmo better not come in for Patto or Graham, both did more tonight than simmo has done all season.

Delib is right, the young players seem to have a weight lifted off their shoulders when all the old farts aren't around and play with more finesse and guts

Polo was fine. He did a couple of crappy kicks late in the game, but he killed his opponent. If Cotch comes in, only Collins may make way. But otherwise no change

Wallace was saying before the game Cuz will be coming in next week.

For either Coburg or Richmond... they aren't sure yet. Facts right please Equus.

I do agree on the pecking order with Collins going ahead of Polo.
But I believe Polo has experience. Doesn't need anymore games or confidence. No excuses.
I did watch on the wing at Telstra, Polo doing positive things, but I also watch players ahead of the play and behind the play, before it gets to an area and after it leaves and area, with the possibility it could come back.
I watch to see the set-ups before and after as well as the disposal.

Even Bling used ALL his afterburners today, offensively AND more importantly defensively. And when the ball wasn't around Bling WAS doing the correct things...in the correct spots. Polo on the other hand was waving his hands around telling people to man up, when in fact, he was the cause of players around him loose and believe me, when he didn't have the ball, he was lost.
A mate of mine picked that up independently also.

I have no grudge against Polo, but tonight he was just lost and lazy when we didn't have the ball. And that throws other players and zones out of whack.

Luckily North allowed us to get away with this tonight.

I thought that our forward line stepped up, when Richo was off the ground, from what i've heard is that Richo is a big chance to miss the clash with the swans, so i would say:

INS: Cousins or Schulz
OUT: Richo

I would like to see Cousins in the midfield just so we can see the future of the Richmond Football Clubs forward line, otherwise Schulz would come in to fill the void. Tyrone Vickery from all reports performed well for Coburg but would be a slim chance to replace richo.

Personally i dont think Schulz has done enough at VFL Level to come into a Young and Improving Richmond Team, and apparantly Cotchin could be in against Brisbane in Round 7.

But i think, other than Richo (who would be rested), everyone else deserves to play next week.

Great Performance By The Boys, and i think a lot of Die Hard Richmond supporters , would be loving Coughlan back in the side. His heart is definitely Yellow and Black

i really like the enthusiastic way collins plays and usual suspects bling and JON did enough to get a game next week. collins - apart from his lack of awareness when petrie tackled him - was good and has kicked 3 goals in past fortnight in a forward line that is still finding its feet. I'd rest Richo - out: richo. in: schulz. If cuz comes in, then think he'll play off HF, so prob drop JON (which would be tough, but every week good sides ie Geelong drop players with fair form)

Sarge for Richo, claimed fit or not he needs a rest.
Although some might not agree with this , McMahon and Bowden who I know have both had high possession games in recent weeks should be looked to be moved on, solely because they refuse to use the centre corridor and unless they are prepared to they might as well not get the ball. Was the significant difference in our game last night and the percentage of goals kicked using the centre corridor compared to those kicked not using it is remarkable and shouldn't be ignored.
Rance for mine is someone who may make way in the next couple of weeks and think it will be good for him, seems to be struggling the last couple but would leave him in for at least another week.
Collins is exciting, reads the ball off the pack as good as anyone in the side, uses the corridor, and deserves at least another couple of weeks, these kids need a few weeks to pick up on things before going back to improve on them.
JON is no different, needs 3-4 weeks, wasn't blown away by his game last night , but if your going to pick them and they have the right attitude leave them there for at least 3 weeks.
Polo continues to impress, leave the bloke where he is, is always good when the game is in the balance.
Morton is on thin ice and needs to be given a message.

Would like to see Thurstfield, Schulz, Cotch, Thompson, Cousins all in the side within the month.

It's a tough one. I thought the entire team stood up.

If Richo is proppy, bring in Hughes. Could then have Morton and Jack running further afield to cause problems.

Maybe Cuz for McMahon but only if he's ready.

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
We played better when Richo was off the ground.

IN: Cousins Raines
OUT: Richardson JON (extremely unlucky, I just don't think the SCG will suit him)

lets no get carried away polo, bowden, mcmahon, collins and JON are all dispensible.

So those boys will prob go out for raines, cotchin, cousins and brown

A lot of people on here, Jimmy, hoping he falls over, but Bowden has had 70 odd possessions in the last two weeks.
He's doin' just nicely thanks!!!
