Venables is only just stepping up the pace now As I suspect he's been told to take it easy. Needs 3-4 weeks at full throttle to make sure he's not going to reinjure I would think?

Sounds like Vardy's in serious doubt.

Out: Vardy (ruck curse)
In: McInnes

B: Sheppard Barrass Butler
HB: Hurn McGovern Yeo
C: Gaff Mitchell Duggan
HF: Hill Darling Sheed
F: LeCras Kennedy McInnes
R: Giles Shuey Priddis
I: Wellingham Masten Redden Mutimer
E: Schofield Hutchings Karpany

Thought about bringing Schoey back and throwing Gov into a forward/ruck role again but he's just too valuable in the backline. And McInnes is in reasonable form. This is basically the exact situation we kept him around for.

Mutimer to get another run if he's fit.

No Royals game this week so we can take a few guys over to Adelaide in case Duggan, Mutimer or anyone else don't get up.
To be honest McGovern is best down back and can be used forward if need be. We have a good backline now lets leave it that way. McGovern, Yeo and Wellingham gave us plenty of drive all night

Why are we calling for Mutimer to be dropped? Haven't we all been saying that we should give kids 3 games. That candy he sold was awesome, pity he didn't kick it as opposed to handball to Gaff. He still had some tackles. He has a booming kick. Give him another 2 games and see what he can conjure up.

Venables if he got up to speed would be some nice icing on a otherwise fully fit side. As it stands he's not ready for AFL and won't be until late in the year. My guess is he's not on the radar to play in 2017.

It will come down to the onball battle
Gray, Boak, Wines and Ebert V Shuey, Gaff, Mitchell, Priddis & Sheed

Will need big games from Masten, Redden, etc

Anyways, onto selection, just replace whoever's injured. Don't drop a kid after one game, he needs to get used to things and won't learn it in the WAFL.

I supposed Hutchings/McInnes are likely as backup types. **** off with Jetta, he's done. Giving up his AFL career now.

Port will be the big test and tell us where we are (Hawks game was mentally blown). Win and we're on the right path. Lose and we're where most of us suspect - treading water.

Yeo to play on Gray, Not sure who on Wingard the guy is jet
Is Yeo playing out of defence? Gray spending bare minimum time through the middle and that wont change next week. From my point of view Yeo on Gray is a waste of Yeo's ball winning ability.

Yeo is playing off HB, his intercepts are what is making him stand out, not ball winning ability.

Perfect match up for Gray imo.

Yeah agreed when Grays plays forward I will shiver if Butler plays on him Gray will cut him to ribbons

I agree Yeo has the size, pace and strength to go on to Gray. Gray would destroy any other defender. Who goes onto Wingard?

If we win this we go 5-2 and can really set up the season

You'll want someone who doesn't care about the ball on Gray. You start giving him a few meters or hunting the ball and he'll get 30 and 3.

Question, having only seen you guys once this year V Richmond in what was a really poor performance, can anyone explain to an outsider exactly what seems to be causing your inconsistency? You guys really finished strong in 2016 and I thought you were set for a big 2017 on the back of a couple ready to go recruits, but now I'm not sure what to expect. Is it purely the loss of Natanui?

Because on displayed AFL form selecting him would = throwing the game.

I have heard he has a knee - when during the game this occurred would influence an assessment of his value and availability

Wingard, Gray or Impey. Butler is a good lockdown defender and would be a good match up for Gray.
Yeh nah.. he cant keep up with any of them

He's pushing up the ground a lot. He kicked the ball from defensive 50 just once last night and had the second most inside 50's.
