Yes you would think a kid who knows a string of good games will get him an AFL berth would be putting up better ''pick me'' numbers

There are a million Pfeiffers, theres only one Jonno Griffin :p
One Jonno Griiiiiifin! Key change.

Yeah but he got a game because there was nobody else, Maric and Meesen were both injured and we needed another ruckman. I know Pfeiffer can play the game but we can't just give him a game for the sake of it with players coming back in. If he didn't go out and get his cheek broken then I bet he would have played a game by now.
Agree with all of that. I guess what Im saying is that SANFL form should not be the only criteria by which a player should be picked. If that were the case the Griffatron may still be running around in the ressies for the Dogs and we'd have people talking about delisting him at the end of the year.

I just think Pfieffer needs an opportunity regardless of his SANFL stats. I would have thought he was in line in front of Douglas, Vince, Hinge and Jericho before he broke his cheek.

You guys think that Stiffy will play in the forward line?

God knows we need a crumber... I wonder if he will be asked to do the job, as we are running it out of defence quite well without him...
Yes, yes and yes.

The more I think of it the more obvious it seems that there will be 2 straight swaps (players and roles) Stiffy - Vince and Reilly - Jericho. Stiffy can rotate with Douglass as the crumbing forward/bench warmer.

Amen to that

Now players are coming back, we can rest Burton (who mentioned he would be having a rest once we got some depth).

Stiffy & Reilly as 1st choice players should come straight in. Porps via Westies (put pressure on Douglas).

IMO, our structure is better with Bock at CHB, so Kenny in for Stevens.

INS: McGregor, Reilly, Johncock
OUT: Stevens, Burton (inj), Vince

F: Welsh, McGregor, Edwards
HF: Johncock, Perrie, Douglas
C: Reilly, Goodwin, Knights
HB: van Berlo, Bock, McLeod
B: Bassett, Rutten, Torney
R: Hudson, Shirley, Thompson
I: Griffin, Doughty, Mattner, Jericho
If Roo is fit to play (as going by training today), I would prefer to be cautious & give him another week off.

If Douglas is injured, I would consider bringing in Porplyzia.

If Welsh is injured, then Scott Stevens should stay in the side.

Looks like it is a certainty Burton will be rested & Vince needs to go back to the SANFL for a bit.

West Adelaide's Adam Hartlett will make his debut for Carlton this week. :)

Harts will probably play in defence given he's played well down back for the Bullants in the past two games. But you might see him up forward for a stint or longer if Fevola's corky flares up.
looking forward to seeing him play. known adam and his family for a long time

Good to see Stiffy and Radar back.
Hopefully Porps can do some crumbing up forward.

Thank goodness Burton is finally getting the rest he needs, and Douglas having hammy troubles is good for the selectors as it makes the decision easy.

Vince is also a plus to see on the sidelines. Hopefully he plays SANFL this week and gets some decent game time.

Yes I find something new to complain about every week, but seriously, this is a disgrace. As everyone is well aware I’m not much of a fan of Bernie Vince, but why has Luke Jericho, a man with no future at the AFC, been retained ahead of Vince? Why is Jericho still playing? We have 3 players returning from injury, and Jericho still holds his place in the team? I’m starting to get a little concerned that the butter boy could push for a permanent spot in our 22 even with everyone up and running.

Obviously the selectors think he has a future.

Bernie needs to find some form in the SANFL, Jericho will only benefit from playing AFL and he has been good in his last 2 games.

Whilst Jericho hasn't done anything that makes me like him as a footballer, Vince hasn't either and doesn't seem to have pace at this level, which at least Jericho may seem to have.

Bernie Vince has been out of form for some weeks now. It's also match ups - Vince is not very versatile, and with Porplyzia replacing Vince, Jericho is able to play as a half forward or a wingman to replace Burton. When we have Porplyzia fit, Vince is not in the best 22.

The Walls also provides more options at game time than Vince does - can play forward, back and midfield and is taller, faster and has more endurance than Bernie. I love Bernie and think he has a huge upside but his form has been down the past couple of weeks whereas, like Gets said, Jericho has not been disgraced in his last two outings.

How exactly has he been good? He’s run up and down the wing with no one even close to him. It’s not hard to look good with no opponent and no one applying pressure. The only thing Jericho has proven to me in his 2 games are that he’s still soft at the contest, is afraid to cop contact, and is still slack and tries to take one handed marks. He will be found out under pressure against quality, physical sides.

Perhaps - but if they want to use him as trade bait at the end of the year then they need to give him some games. You will notice weird things happen between Round 9 and 12 or so. Duds get games, a lot of players debut - it's the relatively "safe" time. Pfeiffer would have debuted this week if Porplyzia and Reilly weren't ready.

Very true, but while we're playing the weaker sides he will do the job. Give it one more week - the change will be:

IN: Ricciuto
OUT: Jericho

Then we can really get going.

I also think that Jericho's future hangs in the balance this year and for a guy that has a promising start as a youngster the club most probably wants to see what they could be giving up.

I have no issues with jericho getting an opportunity to prove himself and sometimes it takes more than one or two games to see what they have to offer.

While I said his last game was unacceptable IMO, I still believe he deserves more AFL game time to show what he has to offer as well as team match ups obviously is important.

what was wrong with his last game ???

they have him starting in the FP, so it will be interesting to see how long he last down there. if he could improve his accuracy then he maybe a chance to kick a few
