I want Mayne out but he realistically will play. McLarty should play instead.

Personally I believe some rot with selection again set in after the great win over in Adelaide and Anzac Day.

We were going into the Richmond game with momentum and building goodwill for the coach and then we elected to look to the past, to play it safe when we needed to be bold in a game we were the underdogs and had nothing to lose.

I didn't like the selection of Mayne and Blair for that game or subsequently, still don't and it certainly sucked out some confidence from the Collingwood faithful.

Obviously the boards aren't the inner sanctum of a football team but an injection of youth or goal kicking talent and the rewarding of solid VFL form of a Sier, McLarty or Fasolo just felt like a better reflection of the new and improved brand of football we were witnessing.

Fast forward 3 weeks and we've lost 2 games and had a narrow victory over the bottom side and we continue to make some strange selection decisions IMO.

Moore while a promising talent remains just that, he isn't an established star and yet was granted immediate inclusion returning from injury and not for the first time.

How about rewarding McLarty for continual good displays in his new role as a forward/ruck instead?

With Pendlebury in serious doubt for today's game and ultimately missing then surely it would have been a good opportunity to include a big bodied and pure midfielder in Sier in the squad. Instead we bring in Crocker with a side already containing Mayne.

His inclusion would have not only retained our size balance through the midfield it would have allowed de Goey more opportunity to remain forward if required.

In our win over Adelaide the side contained Thomas and Brown. Today we also had Adams and that just feels like one to many small midfield options for mine when you also include the likes of Sidebottom and Treloar.

Geelong won today because ultimately the brand they wanted to force on us out muscled our own but I still don't feel that 22 was the best mix of size and talent we had available and that disappoints me because that's something we can control.

Out:Moore (inj)
In:McLarty

Out: Phillips (con)
In: Pendlebury

Out:Crocker
In:Fasolo

Out:Brown
In:Sier

Out:Appleby
In:Maynard

If Phillips is right to play then Mayne makes way. Appleby unlucky.

Dunn is on notice...stop the silly errors, he is costing us a couple of goals per week recently from his stupidity.

With Moore gone and Reid fragile, great chance to unleash McClarty.

Although I fear that will mean that Crocker will get a reprieve instead of introducing Fasolo, as Crock, WHE and Strephenson are a great combo when we don’t have the ball.

Would potentially go small, and bring in Fas to replace Moore, and back him, WHE, DeGoey, Stephenson, Treloar, Sidey to rotate around Cox.

Hopefully Langdon and Maynard ain’t too far away!

Gee going to be a long week in this thread!

First crack at it, still plenty of balls in the air currently but here's how I hope it goes

In: Pendlebury Langdon Maynard Fasolo
Out: Crocker Appleby Moore (inj) Murray (rest)

B. Howe Dunn Langdon
HB. Maynard Scharenberg Crisp
C. Sidebottom Adams Phillips
HF. de Goey Hoskin-Elliott Thomas
F. Fasolo Cox Stephenson
R. Grundy Pendlebury Treloar
I. C.Brown Mayne Wells Varcoe

E. Daicos McLarty Sier Blair

Murray looked pretty cooked to me, needs a week off. Stephenson getting to that point too but will roll him out one more time

I'd love to see Sier or McLarty in but I think we need to shore our side up so Langdon/Maynard back if they get clearance

Greenwood I'd like to throw in the mix too, but we always seem conservative so another week (or two) at VFL first

I'm trying to be mindful of not making too many changes also as there were still some ok signs today (after quarter time)

Dunn must go. He’s rubbish.
Appleby won’t make it.
Brown got smashed. Too small.
Stevo is cooked: needs a rest.
Crocker won’t make it. VFL player.
Adams is probably the worst player on the list. VFL Mid.

Get rid of all those for a start.

Then
Mayne stays 1 more week at least.
Varcoe is lucky to stay in.
Cox needs replacing but we can’t afford to.

Without a 2nd tall Howe needs to go forward. We need someone aside from Cox who can take a mark higher than 6ft off the ground.

He’s actually been playing half forward/ruck with Lynch carrying the main ruck load if I’m not mistaken.

Correct, relief-ruck from CHF behind Lynch (and yesterday Howe).

Took not a single God damn mark yesterday though (indeed, simple ones just went through his fingers), so, there's that. But the trend is (creeping) upwards.

Personally, I'd just improvise and reach back into last year's kit bag and go the smaller setup around the Yank, especially at Docklands...

I don't think the smaller set up works. Against GWS and against Geelong we struggled to find targets inside 50 when Moore went down. We just need another big guy to help relieve the pressure and allow our smalls to crumb.

OUTS: Crocker, Brown, Moore, Appleby
INS: Pendlebury, Fasolo, Maynard, Langdon

Go with the smaller forward line around Cox.

B - Maynard Dunn Sharenberg
HB - Murray Howe Crisp
C - Wells Pendlebury Sidebottom
HF - Varcoe DeGoey WHE
F - Fasolo Cox Stephenson
R - Grundy Adams Treloar
INT - Langdon Thomas Phillips Mayne

Its funny how footy goes full circle. A week ago Bucks was praised in the media for turning it all around on the field, and we were now a real possibility of playing finals. Fast forward to the present, we play St Kilda, who many claim to be currently the worst side in the competition, at Etihad, a ground we have a very poor record at. We lose this game and all the doubts and pressure on Bucks returns. Will be a nervous build up to this game, especially because we are playing at Etihad.

I think the lack of Langdon and/or Maynard hurt us a lot yesterday. Lost a lot of that drive out of the backline and a good match up for Menagola (Varcoe was not an adequate replacement). Hopefully at least one of them is back.

I feel a bit sorry for Cal Brown. He was going ok, but then was rested, then was held as a carry-over. So he hasn't been able to play too many games lately as he hasn't even been playing VFL.

I think he probably should play a month at VFL and rebuild some confidence. I don't see a spot for him with Adams in the side. Just think they are both butchers of the ball.

I also think my patience with Crocker has been pushed to the limit.

I'm not a fan of Mayne, and think it was a fairly ordinary 25 disposal game, but he will hold his spot on the back of that performance and he has been serviceable.

I'd go:

In: Fasolo, McLarty, Pendlebury
Out: Crocker, Moore, Brown

We need Maynard back, so will wait the injury update before commenting further. Also not sure how Phillips will pull up. Sier would be close to selection too I reckon.

Yep, with Howe carrying the number 1 ruck role yesterday. Has been playing KPF/2nd ruck all season.

What's biased about pointing out that Mayne is useless ?

Perhaps making the point off a 25 possession, 10 marks, 9 tackles, 3 clearances game on a wing does little to suggest anything but bias.

He was a disgrace. Had my eye on that white m..##@@ all day and he must have crucified us on at least four blatant frees that should have been paid and a couple we were pinged on were infuriating. The holding the ball in our forward fifty not being paid after a number were paid to the cats led directly to a Geelong goal.

Yeah, very little reward for the about 40% more tackles we laid, some of them could easily have been pinged for holding the ball or incorrect disposal.

Fasolo, McLarty and Sier have all been putting a good block of solid work in the VFL. They should be the ones coming in soon.

As has Daicos who is clearly in the window given he was the extra carry-over yesterday. Probably would have preferred Blair miss a game but the way they went likely got us the 4 points at VFL level.
