I agree. Need to get that structure back and play back of rounds 2-5

Exactly, and Maynard too. Strengthen the defensive structure and let the rest flow on.:D

Completely agree he seems like the glue that held us all together, seemed to play so much better with him in. Looked so dam good preseason, started great and ofcorse Collingwood tradition, stuck down with injury it's a bloody nightmare, hopefully back by round 14 can get a string of games before final!

Yes his injury has had a real impact on the structure of our side. Same with Langdon and Maynard.
These were the players we all wanted dropped last year, they have started to show how important they are to the side, especially now that they are injured

Really pleased to see Langdon back. He improves the way we play defence.

Hopefully Langdon can show some intensity like Scharenberg. ;)

Huge danger game. Saints desperate

Agree, but it should probably be said that every game is a danger game. You're either playing a good side or you're playing one of the bottom sides who are desperate for a win.

The saints are probably better than 1-6-1 or whatever they are at the moment. But please on please Collingwood, don't lose this game. Could really make it difficult to make finals.

Pretty happy with the ins to be honest! St.kilda seem to have a couple out as well so that helps. We lose this we can kiss finals goodbye. It really is a game we should win.

P.s. I saw Maynard is 1-2 weeks away. Wtf is happening there? When he did the injury he actually played out the game v Richmond then the whole week Walsh said he was a chance to get up and he ended up missing Brisbane, 2 weeks later still nothing and probably wont for another 2?

Hopefully he just plays his role. A few intercept marks, a bit better disposal out of defence, some good spoils and pressure acts. He doesn't have to be a star.

A star he is not and never will be.

I agree with the rest of your post.

Now now CFC, we’ve missed him. Come on, you can admit it.:)

I did miss his hospital passes V P you're right. :p

Hes got the sydnesmoses injury. They can be 1 week or 6 weeks. Its week to week.

I love the inclusions...

But i feel we've missed an opportunity for a mismatch up forward with not selecting McLarty, seems we've played into their hands with their lack of height in the back 6.

With Carlisle out, their defensive group is Brown, Geary, Savage, Coffield, Webster, Rice.

Outside of Brown who will go to Cox, their next tallest player in defence is Coffield at 191cm giving McLarty a 6-7cm advantage and nearly a 10kg weight difference. This was literally the perfect game for him to debut and get some confidence at AFL level.

Yet we jabbed him up and sent him back out on the field. o_O

Have we still got the apprentice Doctor on board or has our suspended Doc come back?

It’s a catch 22. If we go with him and he doesn’t have an influence in the air then we’re slow at ground level. Personally I feel more confident in our smalls than our talls so I think they pulled the right reign.

I can understand that, but at Etihad with the roof closed and perfect conditions to clunk marks, i would have happily gambled on McLarty having an aerial influence.

I think it just shows our lack depth in the backline.

I think if we win, people will say it was a master stroke going small forward. If we lose, Bucks will get slammed.

Personally, I've always thought of Fasolo as a full-forward. He may be undersized, but he plays that way. With De Goey and Hoskin-Elliott as well, I don't think we'll be out-marked up forward. If we go with an extra tall, there is always the risk that the Saints will use the extra run to exploit us.

I like the mix. Mason Cox will still be a handful, although I think Brown is a good match-up for him because both are slow, but Brown has strength. With our full midfield in, I'd like to see Sidebottom and Treloar rotate forward too.

True, although if we have both Reid and Moore available, then one of them plays defence. That compounds the absence of Langdon and Maynard as well. We've been hit pretty hard, although it's more the norm now. Mihocek is also an option, as is McLarty if we think we are undersized. The Saints are missing some talls as well, so I don't think height will be an issue for us this week.
