B: Brown, Talia, Reilly
HB: Smith, Otten, Jaensch
C: Mackay, Thompson, Sloane
HF: Lynch, Walker, Douglas
F: Betts, Jenkins, Wright
R: Jacobs, Kerridge, B Crouch
I: Podsiadly, Laird, Lyons, Grigg (sub)

In: B Crouch, Lynch, Grigg
Out: Dangerfield (Inj), Rutten (inj), Martin

Realistic changes are limited:

M Crouch put his hand up for a game
Sounds like Hendo and Grigg carrying new injuries.
B Crouch still underdone.
Charlie C - still not quite right?
Lynch could come in, but that is on one SANFL game only (sounds like he played well though)
Hartigan went OK in the 2's?

Players to omit?
Maybe DMack depending on concussion test
Danger? Please assess him PROPERLY this week - if he's fit he is a must IN, if not he is a must OUT

So despite disappointing form, I imagine minimal changes.

Really want Lynch back in but where does he play if Tex, Pods, and JJ all play. Wing?

Lynch is a star, he plays wherever

Our forward structure is terrible at the moment. Tex is playing out of position up the ground because pods can't move, and has to stay inside 50. Pods would be dropped if he plays for any other team, but sando abuses selection because he is a mate

Therefore lynch will come in and play his usual role, which will leave tex, JJ and pods deep getting each others way

Wake up sando

Issue is, who else would you have brought in before now for Pods??

My only thought would have been to move Otten fwd. Quite liked him in that role last year.

But he has been one of our better contested marks............ which is saying something.

Noble said something to the effect on 5aa this morning that both the club and Dangerfield are adamant that he (Dangerfield) has no long term injury and what he suffered was a knock or a corky to the quad area on Saturday night, so he is a certainty to be fully fit and to play. Apparently Danger so eager to play that it would be pointless to try and prevent him.

Pods is undroppable. Jj is probably safe due to his 4. So it's either lynch to miss or we're playing the tallest fwd line in the history of the afl.

Pods is undroppable? He is a complete liability in the forward half, he cannot chase someone to save himself. He is playing as a key forward and only averaging just over a goal a game, which is terrible. Not to mention he is getting in texs way which results in tex getting touches on the half back flank. Pods then gets moved to the back line as a loose man because he rarely sees it up forward, and thats where he beefs up his stats to get his ten touches..

Lynch is coming out of contract, and vic clubs will be circling. If we lost him after the gunston fiasco, i would literally rip up my membership

So it would be a great move to play pods over lynch:drunk::cry:

If any other forward such as Mckernan, LJ or porplyzia put up some of the performances pods has this year, they would be dropped, no doubt.

It is complete bias at selection, Otten should of played up there, they should have gone small at some stage, or porpoise. Even give Mckernan a crack at it, he played well in the pre season, comes up against three top 3 teams and they are surprised he doesn't play well?!

But no, they persist with a list clogger and don't develop the cattle

If lynch doesn't play it will be the final straw

Hendo should play if he is over his injury, we need some more zip out of our back line, it is badly slow
B Crouch would have been trained into the ground hopefully this weekend, should play
Lynch is the fittest and has the best work rate going around in the league, normal rules don't apply
Hartigan should play for rutten; but sando has given truck a gold pass

Have to disagree with you BobaFett. Sure his first 3 games were very average but I rate him in our top 10 at the moment. Before this round he was 5th in the AFL for contested marks! Not a chance to be dropped.

He takes those marks in defence when he is playing loose man, hardly a loose man player, he kicks hospital passes

If its a choice between him and lynch, i would be ashamed of the club if lynch didn't get picked

Lynch is superior in every statistical category, and is in our top ten players. Pods inability to move means he is anchored in the forward line, leaving tex to get the ball on the back flank

Geelong, port adelaide, GWS, Melbourne, Carlton, Gold coast, Fremantle and Essendon. These are the teams where he has performed poorly as a member of the forward line. Any other forward line player would have been dropped for those performances. I have highlighted gold coast because you might argue with me on that one, but most of his 19 touches came as the loose man in defence, which is a complete waste of time.

There is absolutely nothing to gain from playing him if lynch doesn't get a game, only everything to lose

I feel horrible and I know it's wrong of me, but I want Port to give us a good touch up on the weekend. I am a little tipsy so forgive me but here's my thought process: If we lose by a large margin on the weekend which is a big game for the club, our first home Showdown at Adelaide Oval, then I believe that would set the wheels in motion for change at the club. It would unrest those with complacent feelings about the club, give those who have been unhappy with the admin since Tippettgate (myself included) some more ammunition and I think if this ex-players rumour is true, then they would finally start making some real noise. I am seriously sick of this, I refuse to buy a membership even with my love for Adelaide Oval and I will not buy one or a ticket to a game until I see some change. I will accept freebies though :)

Off the cuff move: Dangerfield to Halfback? He needs to learn to kick again and how to evade someone without bullocking through them (as a form of self-preservation).

By saying learn to kick again you're implying he could ever kick in the first place. Which of course, he never could. He's a decent shot at goal, but he has never been a good field kick.

Putting him on a halfback flank would amplify his biggest weakness - his shotgun kicking - and rob us of his greatest strength, which is his inside midfield work.

In any event, he should be dropped, because he was a massive liability against the Dons.

Hardly...

Exhibit A is the premiership forward line from last year:
F: Hale - Roughead - Puopolo
HF: Bruest - Franklin - Rioli
With Gunston on the bench.

Exhibit B, the 2012 AFL premiership forward line:
F: McVeigh - Goodes - Roberts-Thompson
HF: Bird - Reid - O'Keefe
With Myke Pyke on the bench.

Exhibit C: The current Sydney forward line.

Personally I have no problems with us bringing in Lynch and not dropping one of the big 3 guys. Lynch doesn't play tall, he just happens to be 190cm, he plays as a hard working high half forward and would probably sub into Martins role and provide us a hell of a lot more. I also feel that our key talls are starting to gel a little more, we just need to see a few more goals from our midfielder/flanker types, of which Lynch could be one.

Atkins this week, its time. Cant see Hendo playing this week sadly but it would be nice, Lynch to come in which Crouch Sr. Thats 3 changes which is large which a fourth being quite conceivable. Crouch Jr or Hendo could be the fourth. Rutten has no need to play, dont get the Pods hate but cant really say its a surprise. Every side hasplayers playing in it that wont play in a flag. He takes a big tall defender of which Port has 3, use him as a dangerous decoy who CAN take a mark and kick a goal.

Or replace him with Grand Angus............

Changing my mind with selection by the hour so its pointless to say. We think we know who are ins will be, but who will come out ?

agree 100%, pods is a liability and playing 3 kpf's simply hasn't worked. but he's sando's best buddy and I don't think sando has it in him to drop him. if jj hadn't kicked 4, I'd have no doubt we would have seen him in the 2's and we'd be back to seeing otten do a bit of rucking around the ground. pods' name is probably one of the first written on the team sheet. obviously we'll have to wait and see, but if you think pods is going to get dropped then you have a damn sight more faith in the coaching group than I do.

Most games Lynch would spend more time on the wing than in the forward 50 so I dont think its much of a concern playing the 4 talls

How do you think Wingard will go if Kerridge plays on him?
