Changes for Showdown

We just won a game with our run early and readiness to spread into space and there are suggestions we bring back the players who are unfit or not prepared to run I.e. Krak moore or a turnover king Mitchell

There won't be any unforced changes. The calls for Mitchell are obviously laced with sarcasm.

No change. No one had a massive or notable game in the sanfl to deserve selection

Unless carlile somehow gets up clurey to come out for him
if lobbe is injured will be interesting redden would come in to maintain structure

Bobby already ruled out by Ken. I'm for getting a game into Austin but that's not happening yet.

.....Austin is another Hombsch, get him in.
Potentially yes; certainly looks like a bright future.

Young looked like he got a fair bit of it & went in hard, but his disposal was less than ordinary. Krak looked a class above, but wasn't to interested in running hard.

What are people's thoughts on Lobbe?

For me he's been pushing his luck for weeks and even when on the field offered absolutely nothing on Thursday night. He should follow Jonas out.

Others are saying that we need him to double team Jacobs, which I get, but I just don't see how he's gonna have any effect at all in current for. Jacobs will eat him alive.

I'd much prefer to give him a rest and some confidence at SANFL level and give Harvey a run to backup Ryder as the full time ruckman.

Trengove taking some centre bounces would also be nice.

Can't agree with that. A fit Carlile is a gun defender.
I totally disagree. Carlile is a very good AFL level fullback
I know its not popular to hate on Carlile and he won't be dropped but he needs to be consistent to play full back. He hasn't ever played a full, consistent season and Hombsch and Trengove have proven they can do just as well on guys like Franklin and Cloke. We'll need to find a way to fit Austin (and Clurey) in at some point or we'll lose them. Austin can seriously play.

I think they mean leave him in to cuddle Jacobs while Ryder goes 3rd man up and wins the tap. It worked well against Collingwood on Thursday, and Geelong cut us up the same way earlier in the season with Blicavs as 3rd man in.

Bobby ruled out, Impey on Eddie, means we should play Clurrey, Jack, Jacko, Oshizzy and Broadie in the back line means Ken can move Jasper to the wing.Ah Chee has to get a bloody full game so Amon is either the sub or the only change assuming Lobbe has no injury issues from the tunnelling type incident in the first quarter.

So Jonas omitted and didnt play at the Parade today confirms my believe he is carrying that groin injury from last year. He will be debuting for the Magpies next week.

Yep lobbe has been bordering on horrible this season. Around the ground he offers us nothing . He gets big numbers in the hit outs but very few seem to be clear to our mids advantage. The one thing he offers our team is a good battering ram when the ball hits the deck at the centre bounce but even thn he is more about stopping the opponents getting it clean rather then getting it clean to one of our guys.

Lobbe just does enough to only just be needed to our side but not enough to actually be really valuable.

I'm of the opinion that a Ryder to ruck move and being in a key forward could be a good move

I wouldn't keep him in just for the sole purpose of double teaming Jacobs. He would be utterly useless outside of that. Should have been dropped a month into the season.

I'd give Carlile the rest of his career off personally. Whether its injury, lack of effort, lack of mobiliy, hes never been reliable enough to play such an important position.

Austin is another Hombsch, get him in.
Looked like he dislocated his shoulder in the 3rd qtr but came back with it strapped up.

Well it comes down to whether he's out of form or struggling with the new structure. For mine, I know this is unpopular opinion on here and most likely wrong given I didn't really rate him last year and I expected some sort of drop off with Ryder. But I actually think he was ok once Ryder was out of the team. He was blatantly cheated against vs Geelong and the coaches had NFI what to do about it from the first bounce. Planning around that was poor and coincidentally the Geelong ruck players had a career day. His other 3 or so games were at or only just below 2014 standard. The problem comes is he's just an inanimate carbon rod when Ryder is in the team. So for that reason I don't think he's in shocking form or anything moreso just a one man band ruckman. So when it comes to giving him a spell I strongly disagree. It has nothing to do with Jacobs for mine, you play the best setup for a combination of right now and the future. Lobbe and Ryder have to learn to play together. For mine, this is more important than blooding a kid or re-programming Lobbe In the seconds(which in under 6 weeks is unrealistic) . Ryder also has to learn to play forward unless we are seriously going to consider trading one of these at years end. Which is basically my main theory. If we've committed to this combo for next year, they have to play with each other as much as possible

Other reasons I don't want Lobbe dropped:
- Harvey didn't play today
- Harvey hasn't really broke out yet with a 4 quarter consistent game and it's only round 15.
- if he was replaced with Butch and Trengove has to ruck with no Yonus or Carlile we'd be left with 2 talls in defence

I honestly think it's in our best short and long term plans to play Ryder and Lobbe consistently together.

And he is good for guiding the younger players to get into position. He was barking orders a lot on thurs night.

And Lobbe's onfield voice is exceptional. IMO we need him out there.

i rate clurrey, looks like a Port defender from the 80's

If Lobbe doesn't play who will be the designated finger pointer? You know what happens if Lobbe is left out ... Ryder strains his groin 5 minutes into the game and Jacobs has 140 hit outs and 25 possessions around the ground.

I thought Harvey might be a sneaky chance until I heard Ken say Lobbe should be right with a 10 day break. He has no intention of dropping Lobbe. Harvey not playing today pretty much seals that deal.

I reckon O'Shea is a silly chance to line up on Betts.
