Changes for Showdown

Lobbe was very good last year, but it is probably fair to say that he was almost certainly headed for the scrap heap when he was plucked from obscurity 4 or 5 seasons back, simply because he was the last ruckman standing.

I saw his last game for westies the week before he was selected for the Power and he barely got a touch, and I remember thinking at the time that Timmy G pulled the right rein when he rissoled the rock lobster from the Maggies.

To his credit though he has performed admirably at AFL level, until this year, where he has been very disappointing, maybe he performs better when he is the lone ranger.

If he is fit I would still select him next week, the lobbe/Ryder tandem has to click eventually.

Im gonna be harsh I think... yes we won... but...

Out: Broadbent, Monfries, Schulz, O'Shea

In: Krak, Harvey/Shaw, Carlisle, Sammy C.

Reasons: Broady has been playing rabbit football the last few weeks, constant turnover then lets try and make up for me giving up a goal... enough is enough, have a spell. Monfries, sorry mate, but the under 18 would dominate you atm, the drug crap has to playing on his mind so give him a spell and try and work shit out. Schulz, has played shit all year, maybe injured, maybe not, but hey lets see what our future holds. O'Shea... Bobby is better sorry, and Clurey is the future... sorry.

Kark... why was he dropped? one of the best and consistent all season imo!, Harvey/Shaw... lets see what they have. Carlisle... Welcome back Bobby, Sammy C... if he is the replacement of Kornes... give him for than 2 games, seriously like what the F!

Were you drunk when you wrote this? Deleting posts can seem socially unacceptable in the bigfooty community, but genuinely recommend it in this instance.

There have been some absolute shockers throughout this wretched season (so far!), but the context of coming up with this in the immediate aftermath of a win just about rockets it to the top of the leaderboard.

Nathan Karker and Attipatu Carlisle

As for my changes (or lack thereof), I don't mind the idea of giving Amon a chance to immediately atone. Had a dirty night, but remember that absolute shocker he put up in the opening round of the SANFL this year. A couple of weeks later he had bounced back to genuinely earn his opportunity in the seniors. At the same time I wouldn't be too perturbed if Krakouer was promoted at his expense.

Think that Lobbe can have another week to see if we can generate some synergy between himself and Ryder. I think over the last couple of years he's demonstrated he can be a high level ruckman and whilst it's verging on gold pass syndrome, I can understand why the coaches would give him a few weeks grace when out of touch. Another week or two of inaction and it would be Shane Watson-esque though!

In the ramped up atmosphere of a showdown Krakouer's poise and foot skills are a big +
His game v the Redlegs was probably only OK but OShea didn't have form and yet played well when
called up. The issue re the Krak's fitness is solved if he is played more in the FF area where he is
a danger like Betts

I thought Krck was in our top three .

what are the chances that Ah Chee will be sent back to the SANFL based on the rationale used by Hinkley earlier in the year? The rationale was something along the lines of "he's done well but we thought that it is important for him to have a full game in the SANFL rather than sub again at AFL level"

i may have missed an earlier post but does anybody know why TJ didn't play in the SANFL?

Need a little heads up here, why was Colq dropped and is he a chance to return despite only getting 14 touches of the pill in the seconds?

In case your wondering why I am here, It is because of my fantasy team :p

I would say he won't come back in this week with almost complete certainty. He could replace Amon but I would rate that a very very low chance. As for why he was dropped, we don't know why aside from the coaches saying he had some things to work on. I would assume the defensive side of his game.

Yeah I know but I think you need to stop Betts from marking the ball as much as his ground level trickery. O'Shea spent some time on the Collingwood small forwards and they were pretty much a non-factor. Jonas has gone to Betts a few times and has done alright on him with his physicality. No guarantees about Jonas being back but O'Shea could do the same job. Hombsch, Trengove and Clurey go to Walker, Jenkins and Lynch.

And I like Impey being able to push up the ground a bit and give us some of the run we've lost with Polec and White being out.
I think oshea was a little lucky elliot is out of form at the moment he had 2 easier chances plus that hard one at the end of the game that he put down and oshea was trailing a bit behind whilst Eddie won't miss them opportunities I think imply has to have him and oshea do wot he's best at which is leaving his man and floating across to help out by either marking it or punching it.

Ah chee plays full game or there's something wrong besides wines and Grey he could be one of our best extractors and isn't slow if caught on the outside.

no way he's coming back in, krak would be more realistic but
“Sam’s had three games back, won a bit of outside ball, but it’s his ability to handle inside pressure that we want to see him develop and show consistently."

Don't think we can afford O'Shea on Betts. Elliott got a lot of the ball, 22 disposals, but roves wide and was also not in goalkicking form on Thursday. Betts stays a lot closer to goal and if he gets 10 touches could kick 3 goals and make another 2. Impey has done pretty well on him before. In the Crows AO showdown last year the media were raving over his 4 goals but the truth of the matter was that he got 1 cheap goal in the first minute when he went down like a sack of spuds when Jacko breathed on him, did nearly nothing for the rest of the game and then scored 2 junk time goals when we had to throw caution to the winds to try to get a win.

I would look at dropping Stewart, Amon and Lobbe.

Stewart had a real nothing game and really doesn't offer anything that makes us a better team by selecting him.

Amon needs to be dropped not because he isn't any good (I rate him) but because you can't let efforts like his go unpunished. Standards need to be set and met, he didn't meet them. A stern word and some encouragement to hit the contest harder and he will be better for it.

Lobbe I know hit the ground hard and was affected by it for the rest of the game. But that is not why I would drop him. I am really harsh on Lobbe, I guess I have to admit that I don't rate him as a good ruckman. He is serviceable at best, so when he isn't at his best, like he has been for chunks of the season I think it might be time to send a message and drop him.

I would like to see Ah Chee given a full game and I would like to see Krak come back in. Other than Krak back in I'm not entirely sure who else to bring in. This a bit of a problem. Maybe Sammy Q, maybe have a look at Harvey, I really don't know. What I do know is I think the guys I mentioned need to come out of the side.

I was super impressed with Clurey and I would be hesitant to drop him for the remainder of the year even if Bobby is good to go. I think he will be a far better player than Bobby is/was.

Considering how much we have missed Polec and Karlos is far and away the closest player we have to providing what Pole Cat offers I am in favour of going to extreme lengths to get game time into Karlos. People are overreacting to one poor bit of play that he just needs a tap on the shoulder about.
Can see Ah Chee as sub again unfortunately. We need one of him or Ollie to be a solid medium forward option to have them both start. Ollie of course could be a medium forward but Gus, Robbie and LeBron have those roles covered. Starting both Ollie and Ah Chee just didn't seem to work well against Sydney.

Sheezus.

Yes, lets remove the bluest of blue chip inside midfielders from a struggling midfield and plonk him in the forward line just for the fun of it.

Lobbe needs to be a running MARKING machine NOT a tackling machine.
Its like saying Schulzy has great defensive pressure on our HB line so all good
Watch Natanui play or Mumford!! Uses his body to create space for mids in close. Lobbes second efforts were outstanding last year and helped the likes of Boak, wines and Gray. This year nadda. I agree should not be his major focus but must compete. I think he has lost confidence when ryder arrived. Needs a spell

That's the point, we can't.
What do we do with Ollie when he's not being Ollie? Then what do we do with Ah Chee when Ollie is being Ollie? Ah Chee coming on as sub and helping out at 3/4 time is about right.

just want to see young in, you have to win the contested ball against the crows, if you win that then you go a long way to beating them, most probably drop Stewart for Young, Amon sub
