I thought he's back for Pakistan.

If so then nothing wrong with a stop gap opener for 1 test that can be used in the future. Nothing wrong with giving Bancroft or whoever is young and can open a go. Get a taste of test cricket and can be used in the future when Marsh is done or gets injured again.

Warner
Bancroft
Khawaja
Smith
Ferguson
Pattinson
Nevill (Matty Wade has as many 50s in his last 4 First Class innings as Nevill. But Nevills was at test level +he's the better keeper, so I'll give him the nod for at least another test or 2)
Starc
Hazelwood
Lyon
Sayers/Bird (Bird should have been in last game so is probably ahead in the selectors eyes, but Sayers has really been bowling well and probably should be ahead based on performance so 50/50. )

Despite how badly Burns is going I see no point dropping him when he will be replaced by Marsh as soon as he is healthy anyway.
Got caught down legside again. Once is unlucky twice in a row is technique. Marsh could be a while away he rebroke the same finger as before. That dictates extra caution in coming back

I think new blood is good for viewers as well. There's a sense of apathy when the same old plodders are embarrassing our country

Victorians in this forum are amazing. Rather than having the interests of Australian cricket at heart they seem to be more interested in getting as many of their average suburban cricketers that represent Victoria into the Australian team.

How anyone could suggest Cameron White is beyond me - I mean he literally has two shots, he either tees off or he tries to block the ball. White hasn't a modicum of batsmanship in his persona other than that he holds a bat occasionally.

Why would you suggest Wade for selection when at best he is a backstop, and probably the worst wicket-keeper to ever play a Test for Australia. I mean Neville's glove work is the best of any keeper in the country and he is the best batsman of anyone currently keeping at State level in the country. His batting technique is possibly only surpassed by Khawaja in the current Australian line-up and in addition to which he is performing as he showed in his last Test match.

Then there are talents like Siddle, a bloke bowling wide of the crease sub 130km/h with absolutely no ability to take the ball away from a right-handed batsman. Handscomb a young player that has done nothing tof deserve a Test spot; who on my limited viewing just doesn't seem to be talented. I would have thought if you are going to get national selection and you don't have performance to justify the selection then as a minimum you must have some talent.

No doubt, we will be hearing the names of Holland and Maxwell for the Australian team so mediocrity can be fully entrenched.

I honestly wouldn't care if every player was from NSW and I'm a Vic as long as the team is successful.

We sound like the windies saying it's all about picking players from [insert name of island I'm from]

my side for Adelaide:

Warner
Bancroft
Khawaja
Smith
Patterson or Handscomb
Maxwell
Wade
Starc
Hazelwood
Behrendorf or Sayer or Cummins
Zampa or Swepson

Time to bring in a Leggie. These two spin the ball and are wicket takers. Swepson bowled very well against India A in winter.
Maxwell at 6 is batting well and his off spin can hold an end and let leggies attack. Helps fielding and energy
Need another genuine quick wicket taker. Hazelwood can be 3rd bowler with line & length
Wade's keeping has improved a lot and is a genuine batsmen
Patterson & Handscomb are talent batsmen
Bancroft is as technically as good as anyone and suited to opening
Picking Zampa or Swepson because they are legspinners is no different to only picking quicks who bowl at 140+. Plus they don't even have 90 FC wickets combine. Swepson isn't playing in the shield this week, and Zampa has a grand total of two wickets for the season so far.

Oh, and Bancroft now has five innings this season at an average of 13.

I remeber a guy named Warne being picked on similar figures.FC record was poor. Was picked on potential instead and worked out okay

I think the main issue though is not enough of the right sort of cricket. They really need to break the season up into firstly long form, followed by the shorter forms. And further diluting the long form with this day/night stuff is nuts. There's plenty of night cricket to satisfy in the shorter forms.

But everything prior to Christmas should be Shield cricket, with at least 2 matches prior to first Test selection (and 2 Tour matches for the visiting Test side). Then you can have a Test season finishing with the New Years Test in Sydney. Then you can play the pyjama stuff after that.

If they don't start prioritising Test cricket, then quite simply it will die. If it isn't dead already.

Can't agree that day night test dilute the form. I can't think of a good argument of how it does that?

No, tradition doesn't count as an argument.

Does night AFL dilute the game?

With spinners you have to go on hunches as if you went by shield figures you would probably barely ever pick a spinner
