So including last season's Shield final, these are Handscomb's last 11 FC scores:

112, 61*, 4, 14, 137, 87, 24, 78, 10, 60, 110* - Av. 77.44

Between those numbers, the Australian batting struggles and Adam Voges' current situation, plus the fact the next Test is effectively a dead rubber, he's got to be picked for Adelaide, surely?

You know what I find funny? The common line seems to be that our batsmen suck because pitches in Australia are flat, so whenever it moves or they're exposed to higher quality bowling, they fall in a heap.

And yet, Steve Smith is the only active player with an average of over 50 in the Shield. We're choosing from players who struggle to get their averages over 40. On supposedly flat pitches.

Test match wickets are often very different to Shield wickets which are made to get a result over 4 days.

He's averaging 41 high score of 170. It's not his first game or 100
First first class match of the season is what meant about Renshaw. Kid doesn't even have 1000 FC runs yet, and is still only 20.

Give him two years of solid shield performances and he can be in the conversation. And he'll still be 22.

Handscomb is the obvious replacement for Voges. The only other question is what they do with Burns, give him one more game or replace him with another opener knowing it might just be for one game before Marsh comes back.

Bird is the one to come in for Mennie, Sayers disappointing today and Bird was already in the squad and should have been in the 11 after NZ.

Lets settle down a bit on Dean, 15 games over a couple seasons at 35 isnt that good.
I think his average would be back over 40 after this knock. Although I don't think he's ready, neither is Burns, probably not Remshaw and definitely not Bancroft. There is no obvious answer but Burns may get the nod as it will most likely only be for one more game.
