Just realised that Mennie, along with the other 1st test bowlers has been rested.
Why the **** would you rest a bloke who has played 1 test and only bowled 1 innings??

Because he's playing in the 3rd test. Seems like it.

Lyon has taken 200+ wickets. I'm not writing him off yet. Still need to find that opener but Handscomb looks as good as in.Only person to score a ton and continue on. Renshaw looks good, maybe could be a pick. Someone who can stay in with Warner at the other side.

Looks like problems in the spin department. Lyon looks likes he's lost his spark ATM. O'Keefe is not the answer and Agar is injured.

Zampa got wickets but got spanked. Even if he gets wickets Holland isn't the answer either.

Yeah looked like he needed the run just quietly. Should be playing Shield right now.

Maybe. I don't know when the 3rd test is starting. So I really can't comment on whether he should have played or not.

Whilst he may have only bowled in 1 innings, the test finished on Tuesday with Shield starting Thursday, it's a surprise any were allowed to play with just 1 day off! No way they would let a fast bowler do it
Therein lies the problem unfortunately. Bloke bowled a total of 28 overs...

Handscomb has to play, Ferg will get the nod if he scores well here too. If not well could be another young fella like Renshaw, Patterson or Lehmann

Doesn't Handscomb have a great sense of timing! Against a bowling line up who've all played test cricket too.

On the spin department, I don't particularly care if they give up runs as long as they take wickets. Zampa hasn't done enough over a long enough period of time to be picked, but his runs per over has nothing to do with why I wouldn't pick him. Impossible to go to Adelaide without a spinner, but it's tough to see Lyon getting a reprieve based on his first innings figures against Victoria. Someone is going to get plucked from relative obscurity just like Lyon did when he was first picked - it could yet be Zampa.

I think people are being awfully presumptuous in assuming that Mennie will be picked. One and done would be harsh, but I don't think many people thought he should've been picked in the first place. He certainly didn't dominate in the first innings, but I'm enjoying watching the Tasmanian score updates with Bird continuing to prove a point with the bat.

In any case, what a shame tv networks don't care about Sheffield Shield. There is more interest in this round of Shield games than any round in years (and years).

Left field, but could we see Agar picked as a #7 bat and thus pushing Nevill down to 8 to alleviate pressure to perform with the bat?

So with Fergo out for 4. It depends on Patterson or Head to score.
