Lyon doesn't do anything when there is any responsibility on him and he has to do anything more than support the quicks.

He's played nearly 60 tests and taken over 200 wickets and he's still the same bowler Nathan Hauritz was.

I can't see a spinner coming in that will do a better job though

The thing with Faulkner is that will the ball he really does not offer anything Behrendorff doesn't do better.

Well I suppose for team balance, you'd be considering what Faulkner can add with the bat as well, rather than playing a third #11 in an already-shaky batting line-up.

I'd feel much more comfortable with picking an all-rounder type if we had a wicketkeeper that could genuinely be trusted to bat at #6, though.

Dean/Bancroft
Renshaw
Smith
Hands comb
Patterson
Warner
Wade/white man
Okeefe
Starc
Bird
Sayers

Warner to bat middle order adds experience and can face the second new ball with his experience as opener. If a solid platform is set he can take the game away in an hour against tiring bowlers with an old ball ala Gilly

Needs more Hazlewood. And Khawaja.

Also a big no to moving Warner to the middle order at this stage. I have liked the idea in the past, but now is not the time.

Really???

I've still yet to see anybody who criticizes O'Keefe explain his stellar FC record.
Might be his attitude off field that put's people of him. The "don't u know who I am, I play for Australia" act in a nightclub after coming home injured from Sri Lanka. Probably should have been rehabing his injury instead?

Not sure if this is a joke?

Warner could still end up facing the 1st new ball if they bat like Hobart...

The real question is why Xavier Doherty, Michael Beer and Ashton Agar all got Test debuts before him.

O'Keefe took 4/88, and scored 66 and 27 with the bat, against the England XI a week before Doherty made his Test debut in November 2010, and also took 7 wickets in 38 overs in the Shield match prior to that.

O'Keefe's FC record as of the 1st Test that summer - 23.56 average, 45.18 strike rate, 3.13 economy rate. Absolutely bizarre that he didn't get the nod back then.

Sorry forgot Hazlewood and going forward not completely sold on Khawaja long term seems a bit lazy at times and with his undoubted talent age and experience should be turning more of these starts into big hundreds. The team needs him to do so

Well, cheers for bringing up all that shambles! #2010/11stilltraumatised

I get the feeling that Whiteman scoring a century and a fifty will save Nevill for a bit.

Previously Wade was the only actual option but now they might be willing to give Nevill another few tests as well as seeing if Whiteman has turned his batting slump around.

Yes I am old enough to have lived through our previous low spot in the 80s the sooner we get the young talent in and give them time to adjust the better. we are going nowhere until we identify young exciting enthusiastic talent and groom it. Also gives us more zip and enthusiasm in the field

Can't see more than 2 of the top 7 getting dropped. Voges gone prob burns & ferguson survives by the skin of his teeth.

Cant see anyone from NSW adding any more runs on that deck. Timely hundred from Lehman or head in a big run chase could see them considered.

Handscomb & toss up between dean / Renshaw. Cant see them changing the bowlers.

Timely hundred from whiteman today & Alex Carey was last out with 70 odd might be competing for next crack at keeper spot but still reckon they will stick with Neville as they want to take him to india but he needs another couple of scores this summer or they will be forced to move him on

Yeah, they're not dropping Khawaja because he "seems lazy" off back-to-back 2nd innings 50s (one of which was three runs from being a ton), and a Shield hundred to follow up.

Gee I hope not after the little he showed in Sri Lanka. What did he average - 8?
