The posters who seem to have inside knowledge about the volume of chances he is certain to shell in india
Did l say that? I said in India he will probably drop 1 or 2 an innings. He will snaffle up the others.
You seem to have a problem with reading posts.
Doesn't quite look like the 7 per innings you wrote... Nice try tho
I'm amazed Holland has.taken any wickets at all with Wade behind the stumps. amazing effort given that,.if sources are to be believed, wade drops 7 chances per innings

What has Cam White necessarily done wrong to not get selected?

He is easily the most in-form batsman in the country right now
You're kidding me, yeah?

I see someone is unfamiliar with the idea of exaggeration for effect, and has a problem with taking things a good deal more literally than intended.

I haven't got a clue. unlike you apparently do, I don't have crystal clear visions into the future.
I am just going based on experience. He has toured the SC before and done terribly. Nevill has toured the SC and done fairly well, he may have dropped 1 or 2 but thats not bad considering. You need a good wicketkeeper for subcontinental condition.

Now Wade may have improved, and l hope he has and l will eat my words. We will see.

"exaggeration for effect" Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story aye :thumbsu::thumbsu:

He can't bat in the Australian top order now because he didn't take enough wickets when he was selected 8 years ago.

Um why is Wade back in the team? Nevill has at least shown grit with the bat and is the far superior gloveman.
He is the type of batsman who can turn a match in a session. He also has the ability to preserve his wicket.
He also gives some genuine energy behind the stumps and gets inside the heads of batsmen.
He's an inferior keeper but he is no mug with the gloves.
He'll help lift spirits. Apparently the team was like a ward of depressed inpatients.

I'd like to see a Waugh/Border type emerge as our no.5. Somebody who can halt a collapse.

I would've taken a chance with young Lehmann too. An in-form youngster would be better than a youngster like Maddison, who has little form to show.

Don't get the NSW bias call
4 of the 5 players called up aren't from NSW and Maddison was fighting Patterson
In any time for the last 30 years none of these guys would have got a go but we have no options left

Pretty harsh on Ferguson, had a couple of unlucky dismissals in Hobart in tough batting conditions and then gets the flick for someone like Maddinson.

Thought he should have at least been given one more test to show whether he was up to it or not, now he may never get another chance.

Not surprised they gave Mennie the flick though, he clearly wasn't up to test standard as a bowler, should consider himself lucky to have played one test.

Think Ferguson can count himself unlucky. Patterson should probably be ahead of Maddinson too but I'm happy for Maddinson to get a chance.

Other changes are warranted, looking forward to the Handscomb and Renshaw debuts.

Not convinced Wades keeping is good enough to play (was at the first session today, was very lazy). But Nevill had to be dropped and Wade was the only viable option.

Don't mind the squad. Like the idea of Nic Maddinson coming in. Hopefully Sayers gets the nod over Bird.

Edit: I'd say Furguson was lucky to get 1 test. I never liked him as a player. Didn't think he'd do well and guess what. out for 1 test

Maddinson is also close to the captain Steven Smith, who will fancy his chances of extracting the left-hander's best.

From cricinfo. Maybe Waugh is the wrong person to credit with the selection. When they are going so terrible Smith would have to have some say behind closed doors IMO.

Selectors have completely lost the plot with the Maddinson selection. It's not just that his selection lacks merit. But they dropped Ferguson for him after one Test. Ok, so Ferguson doesn't look to be in great form right now... which begs the question why they selected him the first place.

Ferguson was basically selected on the basis of a good Matador Cup, followed by a century in his first Shield match this season. Maddinson also had a decent Matador Cup and also scored a century in his first Shield match. If Mark Waugh has such a "gut feeling" for Maddinson, why didn't he get the nod for the second Test?

Presumably Ferguson's stronger Shield record was a deciding factor. And yet, one Test later... his career achievements (granted, somewhat modest) get him absolutely no leeway whatsoever.

They should have either given Ferguson two tests, or not selected him at all. The same goes with Mennie.
