Don't mind the squad. Like the idea of Nic Maddinson coming in. Hopefully Sayers gets the nod over Bird.

Edit: I'd say Furguson was lucky to get 1 test. I never liked him as a player. Didn't think he'd do well and guess what. out for 1 test

I think what the Ferguson axing shows is that they made a mistake, he was the wrong call. Right call has been made now with the younger guys givin a chance.

The problem is that Maddinson shouldn't even have been mentioned in the same breath as Patterson... Patterson is so far ahead of Maddinson right now it's not even funny.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped Lyon and picked 4 quicks as they should be more effective under lights, Smith can bowl spin if they need it.

Hohns said they have picked younger players for the long haul but if they keep failing I doubt they'll show much patience with them especially if they keep losing and crowds/tv ratings drop off.

Definitly think we can win with the side we have chosen. Hoping Sayers gets the nod.

Renshaw and Warner will be a great partnership for a very long time. If people don't really know Renshaw that well, he plays like Alistair Cook but with more shots. Sees off the swing of the new ball and then gets his run rate back up. Don't be surprised to see him at 20 runs of 80 balls or somethign like that after the 1st session. He makes it up when the bowlers are tiring.

Yeah been on Renshaw, got a good feel about him.

Regardless that they are the best available. And in form. And experienced. And scoring runs? OK then. Well that makes sense.

Surprised at some of the changes.

Renshaw at 20 is a bold move indeed. Has the third best first class batting average of the side though. Thought the selectors would stick with Burns because of Renshaw's age. Outside of sticking with Burns there wasn't any other serious option tbh. Being English born good to get him a test now before England try and take him for themselves. Could be a good selection. If it's not he is replaced by S.Marsh and he has 15 odd years to earn another chance.

Handscomb: Couldn't not pick this guy. Averaging 70+ in his last 10 innings. Forget his overall first class record. He's being doing it for 2-3 years now when he doesn't have the gloves. No one suggest him with the gloves though. Absolute joke of a keeper and his batting average drops significantly when he has the gloves.

Wade: Can't say I rate the guy. Would be an absolute miracle if his keeping has improved enough to be test standard. Picking the test keeper ATM is like the US picking between Trump and Clinton. Both crap options but nothing better ATM. I've seen Wade keep in limited overs stuff in the last year and tbh he's better but still way behind most other shield keepers in the country with the gloves.

Bird: Test standard paceman in the right conditions that never should've been dropped in the first place. Pretty obvious selection.

Sayers: Thought he wouldn't be picked because of his lack of pace. I was wrong and I'm happy about it. Will be a handful on his home deck under lights if selected.

Maddinson: Now I really don't understand. Doesn't have the temperament of a test batsman and doesn't have the runs to back up his selection. Reminds me of S.Marsh of a few years ago. Picked with **** all form and expected to be test standard just because the selectors like how he plays and/or think he has enough talent. This is nothing against the S.Marsh of the last two years or so either but at times before that he was a walking wicket at test level in between the odd good innings. Maddinson has a bit of the same feel about him where he scores a score around 50+ on occasion but is a walking wicket in between. Marsh turned it around to a certain extent, maybe Maddinson can but I'd rather let him do that at first class level and pick a batsman that is actually scoring more runs right now.

I don't think there would have been the same outrage, given Head was playing ODIs recently.

3 of our 6 batsmen were in a side that was beaten by an innings and bowled out twice for 400 runs by tremain, bolland & Holland, god help the other 3 because they will have to carry us to avoid another embarrassing loss.
