As he should imo, our 50 over bowling unit against SA was absolutly deplorably. Even if Cummins is coming backing from injury, still better at 50 over games than Tremain et al.

The unfortunate thing with our 50 over bowlers in South Africa is that they were all same same. All around 135-140 km's/h and didn't do much with the ball. At least now we will have some strike power in the opening and death overs.

He shouldn't be getting a free ride with anything. He should be made to prove he can play game after game week after week

He was never that quick
Yes he was, l watched that game and he bowled 150.

Maybe, but what other bowlers are we gonna use, we have got no quality depth in our bowling department. I would back him to perform over the others.

The bloke cannot play games in a row. I love what he can "potentially" do but he needs to play many games in a row before he gets another crack in my opinion

Well I don't disagree with dropping him.

Just pointing out that imo the average excuse is bullshit because if he had flattracked against the Windies he'd have a better average but still be exactly the same player.

But its time to give the Taswegian lad a go

Nice try. Not going to fly however.

Maddo $1.05 to score under 10
Please.

First ball top edge for 6.

Second ball slice over cover for 6.

Third ball top edged sweep off Rabada, caught at square leg for 12.

Really looking forward to seeing Wadey in action at Adelaide.

Apparently from the experts that spend hours watching him in action he's now a quality keeper and we all know he's also a gun bat. So anything other than a close to flawless display behind the stumps (as is required at Test level) and a score of 50+ and I'll be very disappointed.

IIRC he (Cummins) was touching 150kmph in that shield final where Katich the NSW captain completely over bowled him. Was a ridiculous amount of overs for any 18 year old, let alone someone bowling that quick. I wasn't that surprised when he first had his back issues.

48 overs from Cummins. Crazy stuff. Plus another 17 in second innings.

Not quite this harsh, but I'm expecting a much improved keeping performance. I feel his batting is also over rated.

Scott Coyte pulled a bit of a heartstring from memory. Bowed 26 of his 28 overs in the first two-thirds of the innings. Wasn't injured either. Think he just bottled it.

Still surprising O'Keefe didn't bowl more.

Very fitting that when I logged on to the Sheffield Shield portal for cricinfo from that summer the last article is James Sutherland bemoaning 'result' pitches in the Sheffield shield. Our batting was already on a bit of knife edge at that point. This was the time when Michael Clarke was carrying the battin and Ponting was having a horrendous time of it. Since then we've flattened out pitches at shield level (and club level for that matter) and the medium to long term outcomes of that Sutherland decision have been laid out for all to see.

If you are picked to play Shield, you need to be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the role. I agree it was daft to bowl him that much, but what is a skipper meant to do in a Shield final?

It was equally daft to play him in his only test pumped with painkillers due to a foot issue, which IIRC, is what they did.

If 17 year olds aren't fit to play, don't play them.

This is lunacy....

Cummins needs to get back and play long form cricket, to prove to the selectors (and probably even himself) that his body can stand Test cricket. Constantly bringing him back for these Mickey Mouse hit-and-giggle series does nothing for him. He'll end up like Shaun Tait; a "short form specialist" who just plays the world T20 tour....

This will also be the ch9 commentary Nsw cheerleader position

What happened to Tait? He had makings of a very destructive bowler. Was his body incapable of the rigours of Test cricket or was the lure of bowler for hire in lucrative but pointless t20 comps too enticing?

Craddock interview on 927 was interesting. Basically the newbies need to show something this test. Reminds me of events that helped either shape cricket here, or give HOPE to Aus cricket

- warnes introduction (not flattering but something was there)
- kawajas debut test - 37 and 21. The best 58 runs made in a test.

Because he couldn't hit the side of a barn with a fistful of wheat. Seriously, do you actually watch any cricket?
