See, now you're just talking utter garbage. Actually watch Wade keep FFS.

Only garbage is wade's keeping. He's just given us more evidence that he hasn't improved

Classic example of a flat footed wade not moving to the ball.

But. It. It... he's worked hard

You would have to think SMarsh comes in for Maddinson if fit, regardless of what he scores in the second dig. If Smarsh isn't fit, then Maddinson needs a big score in the second innings or Patterson surely comes in.

At some point you need to be backing your seleoctions or else everyone in the team is a nervous wreck knowing one bad game will see you dropped.

I agree that S. Marsh should come back in and can then swap position with Handscomb, but if he's not fit you stick with Maddo for now IMO. Yes Patterson should have been picked but if they see something we don't that can't have changed after one bad game in which he got a pretty good ball from Rabada.

Churning through Ferguson, Maddinson and THEN Patterson when Marsh comes back would be idiotic and achieve nothing.

It does when you are talking about career averages. Patterson is just hitting his straps now so if he keeps going the way he has that average will continue to rise. Ferguson, despite being 31 still has an average under 40.
Career averages never take into account someone starting his career before he should have. Ferguson's last 3 seasons he was averaging more than 50. But because he has under 40 over his career you ignore him despite recent proven form.

Age should never come into test cricket. If you have a 35 year old scoring runs, winning test match, how is that worse than having a 25 year old doing it? What proof is there that the 25 year old will then go on and continue this form? There is none. Test cricket is about picking the best players for the job at the time, not giving them games to hope they might become a superstar. There are no draft picks. There is no draft. You play with what you have, not what you want. The obsession with youth in cricket is bordering on creepy and pathetic.

Most likely, if SMarsh isn't fit, Maddinson will play. But I'm operating under the assumption he will be fit; I believe he is going to be playing the next round of Shield matches. So someone is going to be dropped after one game.

Simple first slip catch but he went the wrong way!

He's improved but hes always left those ones that he should be taking himself.

So are you saying Ferguson shouldn't have been playing until 3 years ago? It took him until 28 to be able to make what a decent batsman should be making in a season and Patterson is already doing that at 23.

Simple keeper catch... but he didn't go any way...

First slip shouldn't have to move to the keeper.

Wade just doesn't take enough balls on his inside hip

But Renshaw went to his right where as if he didn't he would take a simple catch, his arm was barely extended when he dropped it, it was straight to him but he misjudged it! How many catches do 1st slips drop because the keeper makes a play at one that they don't need to?

This day/night test concept is fantastic. Why wasn't it tried years ago?

Shield cricket tried it 20 years ago but it never took off, think the ball was always the issue

Agree to disagree.

Should have stuck with Ferguson rather than draft in Maddinson. At least Ferguson's last seasons have merited selection. Maddinson's have not. If anything Patterson should have been called up over Maddinson.
